This wasn't Ferrell's funniest work on SNL, but it was the first peek at his brilliance I can remember seeing. A very stripped-back example of his rational everyman vs. irrational ball of fury shtick.

I think this made me snort milk out of my nose. When I was a child, I used to spend some time at these folk's house. Their kids were just that bad and defiant. You think the Taylors were nervous. Try witnessing this at age 10.

People immediately dubbed Ferrell the most annoying cast member ever after this one. But they didn't realize one of SNL's greatest stars was in the making. I love this one, as well as the baseball one from a few years later ("I WILL DOWNSIZE YOUR FACE WITH A SHOVEL!!!").

@doctorx67 Well I'm pretty sure he was not well liked after his first season. It took a few years for him to grow on people. But SNL fans always blast new stars as inferior to the old ones- always have, always will. People ripped Sandler, Farley, etc. then derided Ferrell, Tracy Morgan and others as way unfunnier. It happens.
