The ole DC-8-50's are my fave! Look and sound the best! The unique fan bypass ducting/nacelles of those JT3D's is just cool! After that the full length, plain "tube" type is boring and quieter! Still better than CFM56's.

@MightyTristar500 Absolutely! And there has never been another passenger jet like it since it. No single-aisle, long-winged and long-range jet exists that can do what the Short Eight did. The Eight in general remains, all these decades later, very much an aircraft it its own league.
@Coaljet Yup, all those small operators that used to enjoy DC-8s will probably have to try and make do with 757s in the future. It's about the only thing close to a short 8.
