Race is and will remain an issue as long as people refuse to discuss it. We ALL have our own biases and prejudices, even the most open minded amongst us. When we start openly and honestly dealing with those internalized views then maybe we can move past the issue of race. Having a black family in the white house is either going to open the discussion or make it even more taboo.
I believe that this race issue is real for those who are still connected to its roots. I am a latino, blue eyes, and white, and yet in our Puertorican Island, there is none of this black and white stuff. White blue eye women and black men marry, have children, and love each other. I was raised in the Bronx among the black brothers living in the projects in and even dates afroamerican ladies, it wasn't easy. I realized that it was the older generation (mama,dad,grama and grampa) who had issues.

I grew up in California in the 50's. But I visited my grandparents in Virginia. I remember asking my grandmother why there were signs at gas station bathrooms, drinking fountains and lunch counters (there used to be lunch counters in drugstores) that said, "White only". I couldn't remember seeing such signs in California. She got very upset when we got on the bus and I walked to the back. I remember thinking I'm glad those signs weren't for me.

Their journalistic policies have undermined his credibility pretty badly. I remember him from a while back before Fox became so biased and dishonest. He always had a right-leaning perspective, but I thought him otherwise a fairly decent journalist.

Race is and will remain an issue as long as people refuse to discuss it. We ALL have our own biases and prejudices, even the most open minded amongst us. When we start openly and honestly dealing with those internalized views then maybe we can move past the issue of race. Having a black family in the white house is either going to open the discussion or make it even more taboo.

I believe that this race issue is real for those who are still connected to its roots. I am a latino, blue eyes, and white, and yet in our Puertorican Island, there is none of this black and white stuff. White blue eye women and black men marry, have children, and love each other. I was raised in the Bronx among the black brothers living in the projects in and even dates afroamerican ladies, it wasn't easy. I realized that it was the older generation (mama,dad,grama and grampa) who had issues.

Data:I'm proud to hear you say this. It's refreshing. I only wish more shared your view. At times I feel like a leper where I live b/c I moved frequently growing up so I became tolerant of others. I've taught my children to accept others. I'm proud my 21yo has friends that are white, black, Asian, etc.. gay, and other faith-beliefs. I don't know when I went from young mother to middle-aged mom but I'm grateful I could pass these ideals to my children. Props for you! You deserve it.

The comment causing controversy in vid is so misunderstood. Those shallow anchors remind me too much of the backwards-thinking, homo-phobic, religi-phobics in my state. Perhaps it's b/c I did live in multiple states where I learned tolerance/acceptance of others. I wish more people my age (40's coming up fast) would have my experiences so they could move out of this backward-thinking mindset - they're not thinking actually, reacting yes - thinking no.

I respect Chris Wallace's honesty but I think one false conclusion he met in this interview that Fox News is not a partisan channel, and that it is not ideologically aligned because individuals like him disagree with colleagues. The majority of Fox News commentators are aligned to right-wing and are virtually static on their position and precepts about most issues, and don't challenge each other nearly enough to genuinely demonstrate pragmatic journalism.

I grew up in California in the 50's. But I visited my grandparents in Virginia. I remember asking my grandmother why there were signs at gas station bathrooms, drinking fountains and lunch counters (there used to be lunch counters in drugstores) that said, "White only". I couldn't remember seeing such signs in California. She got very upset when we got on the bus and I walked to the back. I remember thinking I'm glad those signs weren't for me.

I believe the reason he uses his grandmother as an example, than his mother, because his mother has died due to cancer, as my mother has. I have to give his parents credit for help raising him. Regardless of her sayings at times. They are some profound people. Even though she has feelings like that, she over came them through the love of a mixed raced child. We are too low minded as to not look deeper into this wonderful man to see our own short comings and possible greatness. Thank God for him.

When you work for a company there is a grievance procedure to follow. You do not air this grievance on the air. Chris Wallace was wrong with his approach. You do not attack friends and co-workers. Anyone who does this is not your friend. Wallace showed very poor judgement. He should be fired for not following a chain of command with his grievance.

What gets missed is Obama is stupid. If they were black people dressed like thugs then sure, someone may have a different reaction. But a normally dressed black guy 90% of people don't bat an eyelash.

Sorry this is super late, but I don't youtube much at all as you can tell. Guys I understand I'm an obvious minority in the middle of MN. I see the looks, the door locks etc. I've wanted and have used that crutch to justify lost opportunities and hurt feelings. I've been told to go back to my own country though I'm a naturally born American to a member of the U.S. Navy. In the end though I've come to learn that a proffesional victim is like a tolerated village idiot.

Listen I have seen white people, old and young, clutch purses, cross the street and see/hear them lock thier doors when they see me even when I am in my full Army uniform. Just because YOU don't realize it and YOU may not do it doesn't mean it doesn't happen everyday. I am not saying it is right, but because of different experiences and conditionings people react differently. If people want to have honest debate they can't discount that issue.

All I can say is that trust me...there are whites facing handicaps our whole lives also. It's not just a black thing. Granted the black race as a whole has had to struggle in the general sense but the time to take the torch has been ready for a while.

Wright shouldn't've said some things the way he said them. But we can't hold a GROWN man responsible for the words of another GROWN man, whom he met when he was 27 years old. We're not talking about a child, here, people.
