  • No matter if she thought she was too young for the part; Barbra, that was one of your great performances and I loved the movie. It would have never sold in 1969 if you wouldn't have made it and Gene Kelly knew it. I love it and it is one of my favorite movies. Saw Carol Channing in INDY and she was good but the film needed you. Hope I am watching the DVD at the moment I pass. Love ya Barb.

  • @MrChiefNY That's Babs' chuckle.

  • @pianodavy OO ok, just cuz it sounded kinda deep to be her voice, but your prob right

  • I remember my Grandpa and I used to always watch Hello Dolly when I was really little.

I still remember his voice singing to me, "Well, hello Dolly. Hello Dolly. It's so nice to have you back where you belong." :,)

  • louis armstrong is the mannnnnnnnnnn

  • i think i was born in the WRONG YEAR........

  • @poisonbaby81 me too

  • Favourite scene from my favourite movie. <3

    These two are so wonderful.

  • Love your list.

  • magaria bozish

  • This is excellent.*****

  • I agree with WrldSaran, Louis owned this scene and Barbra was more than happy to pay him the respect in the scene he deserved. Just look at the way she looks at him...she is in awe.

  • Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!

  • It was a great movie!

  • Shows the death of the musical.

  • leonard tan's posting on youtube does a mean Louis Armstrong, check him out!

  • Hello Dolly...Happy Birthday Donna!

  • My mom used to tell me this was her favorite part of the whole movie and of course as I child I never got why. Thankfully as an adult I can see how wonderful this scene was and how incomparable the two were together. I might also add that Barbara's voice just pierces through my heart. It's so beautiful! Unforgettable scene!

  • J'adore son air joyeux,sa fait tellement du bien de voir de la joie sur le visage d'un homme comme lui.

  • All the classical musicals. Movies like these never gets old..

  • @IbnKush Hey hey HEY man!!!!i gotta say...i aint exactly a proponent of all this muthafukkin bullshit 'P.C' (so called: 'Political Correctness') crap...but yo post juss hit a nerve...firstly because Bubby Strident IS a 'white' gewl...and yeah...she IS (not "was") a Jew...but i,for the LIFE of me,can't seem to work out what ANY of that has to do with ANYthing??!!!!Babs IS a legend/IS a possessor of a God given GIFT (her voice~box ) etc etc!!So wass the 'problem' man??She's tha BOOM...end OF!!!!

  • for some reason barbra killed the flow of the song ...

  • How Cute!!!!

  • awesome video! belloooo :))

  • Fantastic!!!

    Thanks!!!

  • Hey, THAT was entertainment! Look at the musicians today, meaning so stupid and half-hearted entertainment. Good to see Luis and Barbara again....:)

  • @Atolis2008 Imagine what Bach, Vivaldi, Mozart, etc would have thought about all this music. I am sure that people thought their music was better, and 50 years from now, people will look back at bands today like Muse, Jason Mraz, Susan Boyle, Linkin Park, Radiohead, Green Day, Blink 182, Lady Gaga, etc. and wonder why we don't have them around anymore. Don't fall into the same repetition, I can't that only liking this music and nothing else will make your next years any more enjoyable.

  • (Cherri's part) "Wellll Hello ...Willy~This is Lisa ...Cherri~Its so nice to see you back on the big screen.

Oh you're still strange ...Willy-You haven't changed ...Willy~You've arranged for mechanical puppets to sing your Ooown theme song.

I heard the people ...complainin~And the critics ...sayin-That you dont resemble that guy from way back when ...SOOO?

Who cares what they say Willy~Let the Critics talk!~It is sooo nice to see you back again" *blows a kiss* ^_^

  • Exciting harmony!

  • I played Barnabe Tucker (1991) in my high school's rendition of this great musical. Oh the memories!

  • HELLO DOLLY ROCK'S

  • oh DARLING!!!

  • класс!

  • I Love this Movie, Scene.

    Definitely feel good Music.

    Tks, Louie and Ms. Barbara.

    Tks for posting.

    Love,

    Teri

  • I think this is the start of hardcore! HAHA

  • BEAUTIFUL...

  • This is one of the greatest cameos in film history, I'd say. Two legends of music performing one of the greatest, most popular songs ever written. And as another poster indicated, Barbra takes a back seat to Louis for his brief portion of the scene. Such respect for a legend.

  • I think that the combination of Louis and Ella is batter, they both let feel like you're in their head and reading their minds, woun't you agree?

  • I do agree. As great as Louis and Barbra are together, no one can top the combination of Louis and Ella, perhaps the two greatest jazz singers (and instrumentalist, in Louis' case) ever.

  • No argue about this mate :D

  • Quote

    i love it

  • Wow, thank you!

  • Louis swings, the rest of them are just way too Hollywood and square. Seems like it should be a scene from a Mel Brooks parody.

  • Personally, I think that Louis Armstrong was given the respect he deserved in this scene, Barbara, although a huge star at the time, took the backround in this portion of the scene. The entire number was rather lengthy and Louis Armstrong had a relatively small part, but, as indicated above, the portion in which he was a part of, he WAS the STAR of the scene. You also have to admit, they perform an exceptional duet. I may be "prejudiced" in the fact that I am a fan of both of them. Tremendous!

  • LOL WE WHERE WATCH'N THIS VIDEO IN DRAMA CLASS AND AT THE END EVRYONE WAS LIKE HOLY SHIT ITS HAPPY TREE FRIENDS IN THE RELATED VIDEOS!

  • @WrldSaran yess..you are right!! both are fabulous!!, i never heard Louis Armstrong music before,now i regret hehe,but i became a huge fan of him,and Mrs.Barbara Streisand also all a pro,both wonderfull!!

  • Best Scene of Hello Dolly

  • is she like edited in the video cause shes killing it and she doesnt belong there

  • they both are legends

  • Do not know why someone say that this role doesn't suit barbra,.... I think she was perfect...

  • There are female singers that come and go, but few know how to act top notch. Barbera is one.

  • I LOVE BARBARA. This African American male from the inner city. She cross cultures. She's always been one of my favorites

  • This African American Male is the one and only Louis Armstrong!

  • she is nothing next tot the genius of Louis Armstrong...what a difference between talent.......he was pure jazz and one of Americans greatest ever.

  • Agree with you about Louis Armstrong ...He's great !!! BUT ... disagree about Barbra - She's great as much as he is..

  • gospelkeys07...My opinion why 'some' people decided they 'hated' her. They believed gossip: that she was 'supposed' to be 'difficult to work with', or 'wanted things her way'.. an 'uppity' woman. Well, duh...she WAS the producer/director - and one of the first to take on huge projects. She IS a perfectionist and if the project failed the fingers would be pointed at her so would work to get every last detail right. A man would be viewed as 'careful'. SHE was called '%itch'. See how that works?

  • i agree! I love Barbra! (and i'm not gay haha) :)) Real men love strong women! Hey, i should make that a bumper sticker...ya think?

  • no thats stupid sorry

  • Makes you wish life was a big musical, doesn't it?

  • not really cuz there is alwayz 1 lady and like 100 guyz in musicals and it can get pretty competitive.=)

  • man they dont make movies like that anymore...probably because it takes talent to sing and dance and act ...good old musicals...and the scores for these songs ...incredible

  • The highlight of a an otherwise mediocre film of a musical.....I remember as a kid my mother making us stay up to watch it, and especially that scene.......

  • I can still remember my late father bring me to the see the movie in Deli Theater at Medan Indonesia I was a 6th grader elementary school, at that time I didn't really understand the kind of Louis' great voice.. later on I just became a great fan of him.. thanks for sharing.. wonderful..!, bring great memories.. although I am not lucky enough to see him perform live.. different era..

  • i didnt know that in 60s there were beautiful dresses XD

  • Yours has got to be the most ignorant comment I have read on YOU TUBE......why wouldn't there be beautiful dresses in the 60s.......do some research you'll probably be surprised to find beautiful fashions in EVERY decade.......DUH!

  • its my opinion dude

  • Thank you!

  • SHE WAS HOT!

  • why they both make the song great TOGETHER

  • I love Louis Armstrong - HATE Streisand

  • I looove this movie! Just watched it again yesterday... It never gets old. Gotta love Louis Armstrong and Barbra Streisand together! They sound wonderful...

  • one of my favorites also my family hides the dvd.

  • lol

  • i totally agree. i just wish that their part was longer.

  • Geil-einfach geil

  • Louis Armstrong is over the legends

  • Wow... what a wonderful combination! What a wonderful world it is indeed that graced us all with such talent!

  • I never knew until recently, that "Bonjour Lobey" was a dead-on Parody of this song.

  • oh,this always drives me to tears and the world sounds such a perfect place.thanx louis and barbara....

  • I love satch, but dance routine to be kind, I could live with out.

  • the clip from this movie is so good because it IS Louis and Barbra. The star of the Broadway show (and the name closely associated with Hello Dolly) was Carol Channing. There was a lot of controversy at the time over the movie's choice of the 20-year younger Streisand to play the older character of Dolly over that of Channing. However Streisand had the personality, looks and voice to carry it off, while Carol wasn't 'movie' material I suppose. The dance numbers were integral to the B'way show.

  • absolute classic!
