so I printed out your plans for this plane! This is my first time doing a MikeysRC plane, i am very excited! But I intend to modify it with more lift, for slow, steady speeds for good GoPro footage, what would be necessary to do so? Thanks! (If this plane works out good, I'll definitely do another!)
@RCUAVGUY The plane will need no mods for what you want to do with the go pro. If you want to fly really slow though you should build my FPV V3 plane.
What does it happen if the weight of the plane are 800 grams? What engine would need it? I made a plane with marquetry wood but I haven´t tried to fly it yet. Do you think it´ll fly with enough power?
@MikeysRC I am going to be buying the motor and prop in the link is the prop a pusher also how long will it take to get to Florida gust give me an estimate thanks
@DavesRCairplanes Sorry but I'm actually not selling parts right now. Search my forum for links and infor for a motor to get from hobbypartz dot com.
@DavesRCairplanes I get it from the dollar tree stores. Don't worry if it's not big enough with one sheet.....just flue two pieces together then reienforce that glue joint with BBQ skewers. So just basically cut the wing in half.
I HATE FPV videos because I can't see how the plane is flying. I could care less to see what the plane sees. It's just a bunch of images going everywhere, no fun.
@CarlosMerighe Interesting you obviously have a strong opinion about FPV. I agree the videos are way less exciting that actually doing it for real. Sorry my video has upset you.
@MikeysRC , no, not YOUR VIDEO, all FPV videos. I tried it and stopped using the camera after realizing that it's quite boring to watch an image without seeing the actual plane in action. :)
@AssassinsGprods Most cheap e-bay systems will have such poor performance unmodified it's almost not worth it. Let me start with what your budget is. Tell me what you can afford then I'll tell you where to go.
i think you can have a bigger load by adding 'vertical wings' on the ends of the wings to increase lift. (I'm not shore how they call them, but they r yoused offen with commercial airplanes.
Hey Mikey, my Helicopter (Honey Bee CP3) Crashed for its 3rd time. And its engine it fine. Its blades are fine back the whole back it destoryed. Im keen to make a glide plane out of its engine and blades. If I make it right will it work and will it cost less than $250? Thanks mate
Have you flown this plane with your goggles far away from your launch site? As in being 100% dedicated to using your goggles to fly the plane entirely miles away from you and make it back? Do know where you are just by navigating roads and landmarks (rivers, ponds) to know where you are in the sky?
@KP61RC It would be the same for advanced people. In FPV you NEED a good quality signal so expect to spend about 250-300 for all the required stuff. Go to futurehobbies dot com for FPV equip.
Ummm............??? There is a link to the free plans right on the side of this video for the plans. That link is hosted on my site. It's there I just checked again. =)
FPV flying is illegal without a special permit in most countries. You better check that before you even think about FPV flying. If something happens you will have no insurance. Since you can't look around you you can't see a real plane coming, you also can lose the connection, lose sight and crash the plane miles away, with every bad result possible. Just think about all that before you spend a lot of money on something that's illegal to begin with. It does give nice video footage though.
Here in the Netherlands it's illegal. Even on-board video is not allowed. I didn't know that before. I didn't see any harm in it either. But I though that it might be useful information for others, so they can check what the law says in their own country. Just for the benefit of the RC-hobbyists. Here in Europe those wide open spaces are very rare, I guess thats why it's more regulated. Personally I like the FPV-technology :-))
@MikeysRC Hope that governments won't put RC models out of law as "possible terrorist weapons". UAWs, Flying bombs, ground RC bombs ... I'm afraid that it's only question of time.
good but
the position of the camera must be in the bottom so you can get better view

@avsz2010 Duno....maybe 25MPH would be dooable. Gusty wind is more of a challenge.

Nope....it's just flat foam board with leading and trailing edge cut at an angle.
MikeysRC 2 years ago
where can i get one of those cameras that sends signals to the goggles so you can see what the plane sees at 1:00
sk8doodoo 2 years ago
It's a 900mhz system from futurehobbies dot com
Also a 420 line video uncased camera and a home made patch antenna made from plans from rc-cam dot com.
MikeysRC 2 years ago
O....but the video footage over Late Tahoe is NOT an fpv camera. It was a small Sony Webbie.

Crease the foam board before I glue it on the fuselage piece. Then use the BBQ skewers to hold the wings as a slight up angle.

In the US you need to have a spotter who keeps the plane in visual contact. I have no idea what the laws are for other country's.
