Quite a lot faster than really should be taken in sections, and intonation in the strings was inconsistent. With some attention to detail, it could go from being just a good performance to a truly excellent one. Well done job with all taken into consideration. Great job!
Principal horn did a great job on the horn solo. This horn solo is more difficult to play than you might think. You must have very good tone quality which must be maintained while transitioning across a fairly wide range (high-low) of notes.
This is actually quite a bit faster than Shostakovich himself wrote it. I used to like the faster side of things, as that's how I first heard it (with Bernstein conducting) but as I've heard more and more versions, and played it several times, Shostakovich's original tempi really do give the piece a whole new dimension and feeling. I like truer interpretations.
dude, wher'd u get this video from? i kept asking byu tv for one i played last yr with phil and they avoid my calls? this is your trombone friend from byu.
omg they cut the snar drummer off right before it gets to his head, i wanted to see if that was the guy i know heh, he was our student teacher in 8th grade
are you joking? that was fantastic for a university phil. amazing! hear the upper winds? the picc and e-flat clarintet. those runs are very easy to screw up and they all sounded like pros. thanks for posting
we're playing this in a youth orchestra that i'm in. Its a neat piece.
Nice job, sounds great, can't wait until we get it up to tempo.

Pretty sure that snare drummer hasn't been any one's student teacher.

im only in a junior high concert band, but i still havent seen any female trumpetists for some reason

there are female trumpet players. I am a male high school trumpet player, and we have had 7 or so between last school year and this.

sounded very good! just some interpretation stuff+intonation that kept it from being totally professional
feels like it's a little bit robotic

That was very, very good for a university orchestra. Sounded professional in the beginning.
