The shenanigans from both camps reminds me a lot of Leonard-Hagler. A fight that should also have happened five years before it did. By the time Pacquiao and Mayweather finally get it on both will be well past their primes. Of course that will start another debate. Whomever loses the excuse will be, "Well if ***** was in his prime he would have won."

After the Margarito fight nobody fights him toe to toe.

Mosley, who certainly hits harder than Pacquio, tagged him with a clean shot and while Floyd was hurt, he recovered and fought well. At 147 Pacquio does not have great one punch power. He has never stopped anyone other than Hatton (who belonged at 140) in the last several years with one shot. All of his KOs have come by beating guys up. He might beat Floyd up (although I don't think so), but he won't KO him.

Based on the trouble that Marquez, a classic counter-puncher, gave Pacquio and considering Floyd is an outstanding counter-puncher I think he will give Manny trouble. BUT, Marquez had excellent anticipation of what Manny would do before he did it. Will Floyd have that? Maybe. Maybe not. The only way to KNOW is if they fight. Also, Floyd would have to sit in the pocket and throw combinations to throw hard enough to put Manny down, and Floyd is unlikely to do that. He'd get hit if he did that. But Pacquio landed more often and you could argue dictated the pace of the fight. A lot of close rounds in a very close fight. Floyd is a touch fast and bigger than Marquez, but he ain't smarter. No way. As for who wins between Pacquio and Floyd - it's conjecture, which has no value.

Kenny Norton was no where near as accomplished as Ali, but he was always going to give Ali trouble. No guy can beat all comers. Marciano simply got out before he lost (but he came very close to losing to Walcott and Lestarza). You fight enough, you'll lose eventually.

Because counter-punchers give Manny so much trouble, and Mayweather is the best counter-puncher in the sport, I think Mayweather gives Manny a hard time. @JaguarPawww This fight is tough to predict for a lot of reasons. Judah was probably a harder puncher than Manny, and maybe a touch faster too. He looks it. But the cost for that speed and power was endurance. Judah was a six round fighter. If he paced himself, he slowed considerably. Manny is fast all fight long, but I don't think as fast as Judah in his first three rounds. Floyd doesn't feint much, Marquez feints a lot. Big difference there. You are right, fights like this are...

On the other hand, Manny's incessant offense might trouble Floyd, who likes to control the pace. In my view it all comes down to Floyd's jab. Can Floyd stop Manny's attack with his jab and control the pace of the fight with it. If he can, I think he wins. If he can't, he's in for a long night.

Being a pitcher myself, I can assure you, sterioids make a much bigger difference when throwing a baseball as opposed to hitting one. I've never used roids, never wanted or needed to, my pitches dance all over the place, but some of my friends have. It makes an unbelievable difference - Clemens, John Rocker etc.

@SirKowalski666 You are mistaken, it was illegal but baseball wasn't making any serious efforts to enforce their own rules (not to mention Federal Law). What steroids do is allow for much more rapid strength acquisition. That ability is equally usefull in hitting a baseball as it is in throwing one. In boxing, the addition of muscle means the addition of weight, so steroids are useful if moving up - hence the suspicion on Manny. EPO is the real danger in boxing though.

@AndresRomeroBlog Marquez did not beart Pacquio by a lot. In fact, he didn't beat him at all. On my scorecard (which alas does not count) I had Marquez winning 115-113. But Pacquio landed more often and you could argue dictated the pace of the fight. A lot of close rounds in a very close fight. Floyd is a touch fast and bigger than Marquez, but he ain't smarter. No way. As for who wins between Pacquio and Floyd - it's conjecture, which has no value.

So Ali should have been crushed by Foreman, right? It doesn't work that way in boxing. Until the two guys get in the ring, it's all speculation, which has no value. Fighters are evaluated on what they did in the ring, not on what it looks like they might do.

@AndresRomeroBlog There is no one guy who beats everyone. We tend to think of "the best" is the guy who would always come out on top, but that guy doesn't exist in boxing. Styles make fights. Kenny Norton was no where near as accomplished as Ali, but he was always going to give Ali trouble. No guy can beat all comers. Marciano simply got out before he lost (but he came very close to losing to Walcott and Lestarza). You fight enough, you'll lose eventually.

He had the style to do it. I think Tyson would have always given Ali a hard time, given his defensive ability and hand speed and power. Some styles clash against other styles poorly, no matter how much "better" one fighter is.

Because counter-punchers give Manny so much trouble, and Mayweather is the best counter-puncher in the sport, I think Mayweather gives Manny a hard time. I don't think going in punching all sorts of combinations will win the fight, then again, predicting a fight is one of the hardest things to do

@JaguarPawww This fight is tough to predict for a lot of reasons. Judah was probably a harder puncher than Manny, and maybe a touch faster too. He looks it. But the cost for that speed and power was endurance. Judah was a six round fighter. If he paced himself, he slowed considerably. Manny is fast all fight long, but I don't think as fast as Judah in his first three rounds. Floyd doesn't feint much, Marquez feints a lot. Big difference there. You are right, fights like this are...

On the other hand, Manny's incessant offense might trouble Floyd, who likes to control the pace. In my view it all comes down to Floyd's jab. Can Floyd stop Manny's attack with his jab and control the pace of the fight with it. If he can, I think he wins. If he can't, he's in for a long night.

Being a pitcher myself, I can assure you, sterioids make a much bigger difference when throwing a baseball as opposed to hitting one. I've never used roids, never wanted or needed to, my pitches dance all over the place, but some of my friends have. It makes an unbelievable difference - Clemens, John Rocker etc.

@SirKowalski666 You are mistaken, it was illegal but baseball wasn't making any serious efforts to enforce their own rules (not to mention Federal Law). What steroids do is allow for much more rapid strength acquisition. That ability is equally usefull in hitting a baseball as it is in throwing one. In boxing, the addition of muscle means the addition of weight, so steroids are useful if moving up - hence the suspicion on Manny. EPO is the real danger in boxing though.
