Can't believe Amaroo Park Raceway is dead. I watched sports sedans and group C there back in the day, and attended three of the open days when they let kids ride their bikes around the track.
All that's left now is the lake - sometimes I really hate progress..
As a 17 year old, i don't remember watching races at amaroo park or lakeside, and i barely remember wakefield park as it is. Oran park has sadly gone the same way, and it wouldn't surprise me if Wannaroo (or barbagallo) becomes real estate in the near future. Because people can't adjust to living near a track, they bulldoze them for the land, and i'm reduced to watching simulations and videos of the great days of Australian racing. Street circuits suck, bring back the permanent tracks!
Great memories of Amaroo.Got the chance to race there back in the mid 90's in a Datsun 1600 and Mazda RX3 it truly was a fantastic circuit built with the thrill for the driver in mind.Live in QLD now and luckily Lakeside has re-opened, it almost went the same way as Amaroo.
Thanks for the laps, great track.. i just had to remember it again (only been here once in gtl, NOT in real life) Leaguerace starting in about an hour ;) Shame it's been buldozed... Wish we all could show up in racecars and plow theyre streets as a protest.
It is saddening to see this and all our other historic tracks being destroyed due to urban sprawl and not replaced.
I dare say the lack of facilities like this in this countries biggest city might be playing it's part in the teen/hoon issues the media and Gumbyment love to sensationalise...
I agree it is such a shame especially for the character tracks like amaroo.
Well I did have Peter Gabriel on there but I got the cease and desist from youtube so I had to pick one of their royalty free tracks which they do not give the info after you have done it so I cannot remember.
I know someone who is doing a new version of this track with better models and textures for rFactor and GTR-EVO to be done the first half of this year.
BTW, related, Wyong Council has given unanimous support for a club track to be built up their way and are seeking feedback from prospective users and clubs.
It has not got a layout, yet I've been assured it's not going to be a flat boring track :D
I have a PlayStation 2. I've only ever purchased V8 Supercars and Colin Mc Rae Rally, so I was very surprised to find this game which obviously includes Amaroo Park.
Do you know if this game is available for Playstation 2 ? Or any similar games to V8 supercars or Colin Mc Rae Rally.
Any suggestions or help of any kind will be very much appreciated.
Thanks for that. We ran a Suzuki GSX1000 in that for a few years. I still have a Willoughby Club sweatshirt somewhere. I loved how the flag marshals would offer you a joint after you got up from having a crash!

Thanks.
Fraps to capture from an rFactor replay.
After Effects to edit and output using XVID codec.
