Our 09 Jetta gets 35 mpg with the 5 cylinder. Amazing power as well.

I really dont understand why VW put big 2,5 liter 5 cylinder engine in this car. Its heavy, consumes a lot of fuel, and the worst thing is, it has low HP. Why didnt they simply put in 2.0 FSI engine from Golf and Passat , which also has 150hp, but its way smaller and has better fuel consumption.

I totally agree, I live in colorado and if you don't have a turbo you're out of luck because you've got to have some kind of boost pushing off the line! Also if you live at a high altitude.

I dont think VW would send their most modern engines to US market. Any cocky americans would buy it anyway because its not atleast a V6.

Yeah and no. The 2005 and a half models are the same as the 2008, but the regular 2005s aren't.

2005 jetta has 150 hp. the 2007+ jetta has ~170 hp. they both have the same amount of torque
