Oh and as an additional point to my one below, the british passed thess to the French Resistance fighters. Many of them female, assisting downed allied fighter pilots. Many female resistance fighters saw active combat with the sten. Reminiscent of this video actually.

Holding by the magazine happened only in the movies. When I was in the British Army, it was not allowed. We could only hold the ventilated hand-guard around the hot barrel. And there was a lot more recoil than that. She must have been using mild reloads & a lighter recoil spring. Sustained firing will move the muzzle UP and to the RIGHT.
Its a SMG Sterling 9 mm,and when u fire it dont hold the magazine!!its a old weapon but reliable, had one in Gulf war part one,it was manufactured in 1956!! But did ok there with it,range up to 20meters
