Toumani often does not play a "song." He simply improvises on the spot in order to show his audience the improvisational aspect of playing the kora. He plays in the moment and allows the sound and strings to guide his next move. In the process, he creates beautiful music that exists in the moment of its creation and that may be lost forever.
