I think you could make the process faster by putting it in an ice bath, and *maybe* scratching the edge of the glass will give sugar particles more area to stick to. Figured it might be similar to the stuff we make in chemistry. lol.

make an critical solution of salt at room temprature  Dissolve as many salt possible. in a jar of water ( 360 grams of NaCL is 1000 grams of water). Then heat up 10 degrees, and put in a jar, then a horse hair with a salt flake( dip in water, then it sticks), Hang it in the jar, then put it away for 2 weeks in an dark enviroment, no peeking or the salt falls down

Instead of sewing thread, I found white cotton string, (like kite string,) worked very well.

Just wet the string, roll it in granulated sugar, then allow it to dry, until it's stiff. That way, you won't need any weights.

Also, let the crystals grow, until they're at least 1/2 inch wide. Otherwise, you've just got crunchy string.

Also, as "DesuDesuRampage" mentioned below, adding some vanilla flavoring is great, as is mint, spearmint, or anise (licorice) flavoring.

heating the solution increases saturation point so when he cools the solution it become supersaturated but the saugar wint settle out so you add your own sedlings and then crystals start to form until the solution becomes saturated instead of supersaturated
