i bought a 414ce-LTD-R-fall-edition. all gloss indian rosewood back and sides, sitka spruce top,venetian cutaway, expression system pickup, and hardshell case. brand new still in the box from the factory. for 1616.63 the most beautiful guitar i have ever seen.

Taylors are all look and no sound, my friend bought the 414ce ltd and it blows, no bass, no projection from the guitar, the expression system is the crappiest pickup system on a guitar i have ever heard.

The older they get the better they get!Both in sound and looks!The nut and bridgpiece go a lovely parchment colour and the front gets darker and seems to have a different shade for every kind of light!Watch out for central heating as hot dry air can (obviusly!)be bad for the wood!May it give you many years of joy mate!Peace ye`all...!

I played one of these today, but it was a bit too much money, though i absolutley loved it. I bought a similar, but without the electric additions, taylor that is a bit used.

Im happy with it nevertheless

I can totally relate to this!August 11th 2000 was the day i got my 314ce brand new and i think i spent more time looking at it than playing it those first couple of days!Was going to get the 312ce but managed to get the extra cash at the last minute!The first little dent or scratch is pretty heavy though,I felt almost physically sick but over time they become part of the charecter of the guitar!PS. Loosen it up by leaning it(safely) against a speaker!Peace!

i have this same guitar. guitar itself is awesome but fishman was a lot better than this expression system is terrible/sucks and gets a lot of feedback on 3rd and 4th strings. i would like to know if you guys have any feedback or other problems w/ this guitar also. i recommend buying the older taylors w/ fishman pick ups.thanks

A couple of things. If the guitar were damaged in transit the shipper may be liable for damages. Secondly, Ovangkol is not rare but is a rosewood tone like substitute that is less expensive than rosewood and being offered on increasing numbers of guitars. Otherwise, the 414ce is a great guitar.

It didn't happen from physical abuse.  It was most likely through the warm weather and the fact that the guitar wasn't humidified during shipping. However, it was VERY minor. It doesn't break the finish and some people can't even tell the difference.

It is fairly low action for the standard. It's easy to play that way, but i have considered lowering it just a bit because I like to be very versatile.
