holy crap how darkfall has changed. i dont even think i have 30 hours into my new character and it already has 50 mastery, 90 sharpshooter, archmage, reagent conservation, and almost 100 quickness. course though i basically restarted with nothing i knew what mobs to grind off of so i gess thats why it went so quick.... my first character got his first melee mastery maybe 7 months into the game. trying to fend vets off with that and 50 fireball was such a bitch.

i stopped playing DF a year ago, but for accelerated development, theres a hidden mechanic in the game for fresh characters to raise your stats better than grinding 1 weapon to 100 mastery. that secret mechanic was to raise every weapon you have to a basic 50 skill. doing so increases your str and vit faster than grinding your one weapon to 100 to buy the mastery and then raising your mastery. in short, this is just a new char tip. old chars wont see much of a gain as new chars would.

its even easier to grind now that it was then. i had to start a new character and i got 25 gs 25 archery 60 lesser and 20ish greater magic in a short period. one evening but i was going all out hardcore and im a vet with prior experience

When you switch to your staff, your spell you want to use is automatically activated. Atm i'm switching to my staff then clicking on the spell I want to use to activate it, how do you do it automatically from the unsheathing of your staff? - excuse the noobness

Before you start killing all those trolls, it's a good idea to pick up the 2nd strength achievement quest. It asks you to kill 300 trolls.

Also. I see that you picking up the timed quests north of Whiteclaw and you're killing the trolls to the west of Leenglow. Good spot for trolls, but I recommend picking up the timed troll quest from across the water, north west of Silverspear.

Also, wait with using your cloth from the trolls until you got 30 wisdom and got the Maintenance skill.

you dont NEED to grind this much to compete in clan vs clan pvp. This just shows an efficient way to grind. It make take less time doing it this way, but if you would rather not sit through a 36 hours bore fest, just play with your clan and let the skills go up on their own.

@melancholypants Heh, you can grind on fps games too you know, for ranking, most kills, highest kill/death rates and for the less sane of us, most deaths, either way you can pretty much grind on any game.

@Im4everevil (1 year later reply) your true about having a grind in any and every game. but when you need to grind up certain spells and abilities to make them more effective in battles, it barely reaches that level in fps games where all your grinding up is your statistic of kill, death, or whatever ratio. certain fps games have deeper grinds such as playing better as a "repair man" or "medic" but that still barely touches the level of grinding in darkfall.

He has pretty much covered all the basics in the 4 videos. If you're killing trolls in 2 hits think about using R0 weapons on them for training purposes and training a different element + upgrading your other spells.

Actually I'll have to disagree with you there. I'm a super casual player but still enjoy darkfall alot. I'm far from being the best player and I dont care about being the best. Sure, I suppose if you want to be the "Best" you would have to put alot of time into the game, but I'm sure even some of the "Greats" of DF have a life. Awesome work on all your Vids VR, I have alot of respect for you and what you do for DF.

36 hours in a month is your idea of casual? Lets say 31 days in a month, so your looking at about an hour and 10 minutes a day of play. casual is atleast 2 hours a day.

36 hours into the game, and if ur a casual player thats probably a month of play time, and his toon is still no where near pvp worthy... they need to double skill gain again if they want to retain any new players imo.

After having watched your series, it's easy to see how VERY much work AV has done on the game since release. I'm really impressed. If I was better at PvP...heh...I think I would be compelled to get the game right away. Probably for me, Fallen Earth is a better fit. But I have to say....DFO looks MUCH better now than it used to, from previous videos. Wow. So happy that the game is out there as a viable option for PvPers. Cheers!

i'm curious why you recommend velocity for bolts and ESphere, but jumping for Rend? so far i chose velocity for all my spells, altho i'm wishing now i had chosen jumping for all of them.

i never did level up ESphere past 11 or so, but now that i got 30+ in all elemental schools (had to burn up all my saved EU-1 reagents quickly before transferring to NA-1) i'm sure it must be pointless now

Great vid again Valroth, these guides are very entertaining, I love the style and your editing it makes it very easy to follow, the on-screen tips AS the situations arise are excellent! Your timing for when to put tips in and when they would be most valuable to know are spot on.

I'd recommend at this point in your guides to go and buy 10-20 blackbolts from a crafter as one of the tips for P5.
