A lot of old timer engines sounds great once they get tuned some ... a classic is the Ford Escort BDA engine, or the Ford Pinto V6 engines, they make a beautiful sound, like Simon Finley's Ford Escort Mk II :

Toyota's 4AGE engine has a paprticularly sweet almost singing note to it once it hits about 6500 - 7000rpm. And the Toyota V8 engine, the 1UZ, also sounds great with a bit of natural aspirated tuning ... like this :

What kind of revs do these engines produce on average? They sound so high, but I can't really imagine them hitting +7k. Most aren't Honda swaps, right?

Yes, you are right, some of them have Honda Engines, as far as i remember K20.

@haarsje No need for Honda swaps. Professionally build 2.0 16v will reach 9k revs + (see old F2 rally cars or Formula 3 engines) and C20XE is a really good base for a race engine: I imagine quite a few of those cars run that engine.

@MPZRACEVIDEO actually I realized why I asked this. There is only dynamic footage, one after another. Some static footage (cars, drivers, servicing, the spectators) inserted every 3 minutes, would have given the eyes and ears a little break before watching the crazy-Opel action further.

PS:

Had 3 Kadetts, almost undestructable cars :D Except one, wrecked because of icy-road.

Great, but why all of the safety? Gurston Down Hillclimb has just a grass bank and then a wooden fence, 1 armco, hay bales and a massive field and nobody has ever died there, despite it being the 3rd fastest hillclimb in the UK with an average speed of 85ish mph. Also, I don't think anybody has died at Shesley Walsh Hillclimb, and that has been in use since 1905 and is the oldest surviving motorsport venue in the world.

@Racecarwrecks maybe you failed to notice that behind the chicane are trees, not a field. If the chicane would not be there it would be a very fast right hand corner. That would be fine with a field behind but not with a forest directly on the outside of the track. You sound like you find safety a bad thing, and I don´t quite get what is so bad about protecting peoples lifes.

@Hillclimbfan1990 I don't think that safety is a bad thing. I just think it is a bit OTT as these are OPELS! SINGLE SEATER cars go 150mph at Gurston and could easily fly into the bank but don't. It seems to me that the Swiss don't trust their drivers, and look at Sebastien Buemi outperforming his car and Simona de Silvestro giving Danica Patrick a run for her money.

@Racecarwrecks In this clip you can only see the opels (it's a special on the opels). But there are many very powerfull cars starting. This race also had 3 group B lancia delta S4, some very poweful other cars, and about 20 single seaters and sportscars at the start.

@Hillclimbfan1990 I could guess this wasn't just Opels. You don't need this much safety though. You need enough, but too much is a waste of money and could destroy a venue before it is even used.
