Each of these estimates has a typical accuracy of +-5% but by combining the results of the independent radiometric datings you acheive a much greater accuracy.

The study of viruses is dependent on studying MICRO evolution, which is real. Micro evolution is what allowed us to go from having one breed of dog to many breeds, and from one race of middle-brown humans to the different races around the world. Darwin's initial theory of Natural selection, that environmental conditions can affect what genetic material survives, was correct. However, there is still no solid proof that organisms become more complicated / advanced when given enough time.

Because the Hebrew word for "day" (yom) need not refer to a literal 24 hour period. It is used often elsewhere in the Hebrew Scriptures to mean an indefinite period of time. Does that answer your question?

We see billions of dead things buried in rock layers laid down by water all over the earth (Noah's flood) and we so no transitional life forms. No fossilized creatures with a developing wing or half scaled or half feathered creatures. We just see fully created created that are dead.

It is possible that a God made this universe without restrictions, and that mankind interprets the creation wrongly. The earth could be young. However, speculation or claims regarding this possibility have no place in observable measurement, therefore have no basis in science. All areas of science show an old earth. Science looks at nature for answers, not sacred texts, and finds an old earth and universe. Changing interpretation to match with religion is not science, and is dishonest.

The dating methods are not inaccurate at all. Multiple dating metods and decay sequences are used to provide estimates for the age of a rock layer. Each of these estimates has a typical accuracy of +-5% but by combining the results of the independent radiometric datings you acheive a much greater accuracy.

The study of viruses is dependent on studying MICRO evolution, which is real. Micro evolution is what allowed us to go from having one breed of dog to many breeds, and from one race of middle-brown humans to the different races around the world. Because the Hebrew word for "day" (yom) need not refer to a literal 24 hour period. It is used often elsewhere in the Hebrew Scriptures to mean an indefinite period of time. Does that answer your question?

No, that does not follow. There is no reason to assume that every use of the word yom must be the exact same length of time in the creation account. Moreover, there is a very clear poetic structure to this creation account. Day 1 corresponds to day 4, day 2 to 5 and day 3 to 6. This suggests something other than a wooden literal understanding of the passage in my opinion.

The point is that there is not real defined time period designated. The bottom line is that there is no contradiction between belief in God and Science. I myself am a believer in God, and I also believe in Evolution. There are many people who do believe in both as well. Only literalists are against it.

How can science be true if it is always changing. 100 years from now im sure science will be totally different from today and ppl will laugh and say our views on the universe were totally retarded. Theory is different than science and perhaps everything we know about the universe now isnt very much at all....

So, instead of refining our ideas and theories when we discover new evidence, are you suggesting that we simply stick with one idea or theory regardless if there is new evidence to the contrary? How is this in any way closer to the truth? Science is very much the search for truth; science can only deal with the evidence that it has, and from there reach the best conclusion based upon that available evidence. I honestly cannot fathom how you can think this way. :|

Hello again drip, again speaking as one who has thoughtfully observed the evidence and considered the possibilities. I must say that the fossil record testifies to the fact that the Genesis account is correct. We see billions of dead things buried in rock layers laid down by water all over the earth (Noah's flood) and we so no transitional life forms. No fossilized creatures with a developing wing or half scaled or half feathered creatures. We just see fully created created that are dead.

We are thirsty for knowledge and continue to use the brains he gave us to further understand the universe. I think he would want us to use the advancing brains that we have and not just sit back and be lazy.
