  • This is why I love Cannon unlike other cheap brands Canon really makes sturdy items from video cameras to digital cameras. My Grandmother gave me her old Cannon SD800IS and it looks new and works perfectly. It will last for many years to come!!!!!!!!!

  • I just fixed mine. Meaghan(friend) and I were taking .

pictures and then we noticed it was jammed.

I just beat the lens with my palm and it should go in.

If its still a lens error..

    Restart the camera.

  • Ok smack the side where the USB is like claping your hands then it will be ok trust me worked for me.. smack it into the other hand till the lens slaps back in place and it worked again.

  • forced mine back in with my hand, but im still having the problem -_-

  • my stupid canon powershot a480 is being stupid and the lense wont go back into the damn camera!

    CAN SOMEONE PLAESE HALP?!?!?!

  • i see you never repaired the camera so you should have shown it being smashed. Did you ever open it to take a look and diagnose the problem?

  • How do i fix it if my lens won't go out?

  • how do u fix it if the lens is stuck in?

  • for real camera repairs in londons west end try

    twitter dot com / sendeancameras

    sendeancameras dot co dot uk

  • My camera is fujifilm, finepix, f650. and the lens is jammed and i cant get it back in, it just says 'Zoom Error' Do You Know How I Could Fix It? :/

  • I have a fujifilm f650 camera, and the lens is jammed, and i cant get it back in. Do you know hoe i can fix it?? :/

  • This is why i like fixed lens and manual zoom lens cameras. All brands, people have had the infamous lens error. My 10 year old fuji shoots great pictures "fixed lens" and has never been to the shop for a repair.

  • Take out the battery, put it back in, and it will work! It worked for me! I have a Canon Powershot S400 too.

  • You can clean out the sand, but if the gears are smashed then you are SOL

    Look at my video

  • Funny ;)

  • I hammer fisted the lens in (not too hard!) and i got it working =]

  • hey Guys guess what, it's very easy to fix it, everybody told me this error is just something stuck in the gears of the lens, u have to open the camera, unfix the screws, get off the gears, clean em, I myself found sand in my own camera, Olympus FE4010 and it's now perfectly working

  • that iz what happened 2 mine

  • sorry pal i cant help you i have the same camera but i dont know about this error :(

  • i need help!!

i had for my camera for 2 months and after that i turn it on the lens thingy opens then close up by it self

  • can anyone help me? i bought an used canon S3 a few month ago the camera was working fine until a month ago i wanted to take pictures but accidentally i pushed the wrong button and my camera went crazy and the lense got stock and it doesn't go back in, on the screen i get a message "LENSE ERROR RESTART CAMERA"

  • same problem .. i tried to force mine back in, it didnt help ._.

  • Does anyone know how to make the lens go back in? I have a Kodak and it has the same problem jus turns on but lens dont go in

  • same here.. but my lens are stuck in i have the blue kodak.. cause i force it to go in and know its stuck

  • I have a Powershot SD600 that i dropped, the lens got jammed, and it makes that noise. I went to the store to get it fixed, they said it was impossible. Just the other day i unjammed it :D

  • My daughter's camera just did the same thing, how did you unjam the lens?

  • I used a hairpin (lol). I put it inbetween the sliding part of the lens (where it slides in and out) My problem was the whole frame got a little knocked off kilter, and the hairpin re-aligned the lens. I was actually trying to disect it when I got it working :P Now if only I could find the battery pack :(

  • remove the screw in everything

  • @goldenjabba how?

  • @bbi97 I was intending to take it apart, so I started by jamming a screw driver into the slot beside where the lens slides in and out, and it re-aligned it somehow, because it closed, and has worked perfectly fine since. The only thing is that the casing is still a little off kilter, but nothing to big.

  • @goldenjabba how did u do it??

  • @goldenjabba How did you unjam it? Mine dropped And I can't fix it! I have Power shot Sd1200! Does your lens work?

  • @racheljesloves I have the same problem with the same camera, except i fell on mine and the sides of the lens have cracks in them. It wont go back in it beeps then i hear a noice of the camera trying to pull it back it. Did you find out how to unjam it? i went into the motherboard to see if i could maybe pull the lense out but their is no way without breaking the camera fully.

  • @BelloTheCat I called the cannon company and they sent me a refurbished one and all I had to do was send my old one back and pay a small amount of money!! It's called the Loyalty Program or something like that... Then I dropped the new one but when the lens gets stuck and won't go in all you have to do is push the lens in on the side of a table then it functions perfectly again :D

  • i have that camera, but i can't find the cord to plug it into the computer.

  • mine prob is that the screen like blury and all messed up but when i push menu evr thing works

  • There is a recall from canon for that. I just got mine back. they even paid for the shipping both ways!

  • Call cannon tech support about the "service advisory" and they will even e-mail you a prepaid UPS shipping label. Call 1-800-828-4040

  • try pushing on it while it's trying to pull the lens back in. then your'e working with what it's trying to do and less likely to cause any more damage. Also might I suggest using JUST a bit of rubbing alcohol (with batteries removed!) around the edges of the lens.

  • i have the exact same camera o.O

  • that happened to my kodakeasyshare camera

i hit the lens with the spine of a book and it was fine.

but now its broken again and it feels like if i hit it its gonna brake

  • No problem at all! You would take contact to DigiProb. They `ll repair it.

  • Ah. I've had the same problems with my S10 Powershot. They've even filed a class action lawsuit against Canon. So many people are angry about it. I have had two Canons both getting the imfamous E18 error.

  • i didnt mean they werent well made, cos i know theyre made extremely well but that lens problem can happen at any time, and is a problem on most of canons compacts, albeit not that common/often but it can happen...

  • did you get this fixed? ive read that if you put the lens on a flat surface and push gently the lens gets put back on the zoom ring? google 'canon e18', theres loads of stories on how people fixed this, just a shame canon dont make there compact cameras as good as their SLR's !!

  • My god, I can't speak for the other Canon products, but the Canon Powershot ELPHs are indestructable. This is the THIRD time something like this occured to that poor thing. The first time, it was dropped into a bathtub full of water. The second time, the same soda accident happened. Both times, the thing came out without much of a hiccup.

Alas, I haven't had much time to figure out how to fix it yet.

  • Still do not have mine fixed. I feel sorry for my daughter she loves this camera and wouldn't let anyone touch it. Her buddy went for it before she can get it and it his the floor. He said she did it that she did get it before him and it hit the floor.
