@BlackEvoProductions Let's hope this is because you just upgraded or bought 9. They are definitely honoring free (or reduced price) upgrades for certain people that just made the investment.

If you downloaded it illegally, guessing your copy comes with that free legal risk too. If you are lucky you will produce an album with it and Avid will end up owning it ! :) In all seriousness, if you are a professional, and using stolen software, I wouldn't be advertising that fact.

@AAPART Sorry you feel this way... with 100x software developers burning at the rate of millions of dollars of investemnt each month to improve their software, we don't feel the same way. Keep in mind Sound Pure is NOT just "another dealer." We are users of the gear ourselves, and don't take upgrades lightly. If this was some needless upgrade, we wouldn't even bother to present it with out audience. We are sorry you feel this way about Avid but from our standpoint there's lots of value added

I have been using protools for years stops after protools 8.... they are the biggest scumbags on the planet and wouldn't recomend their shit to anyone. They sucker you in with these videos and their shit never works as promoted.... They sold me a digi 003 with 8 software... that had so many glitches it took me endless hours /days/ weeks to make their garbage work.... so frustrated with their rude tech support...they shouldn't be allowed to hustle people that way. They BETA test on the clients.

Another thought on your response, this one to the "Now turning it towards us?" statement. You're clearly pushing their products in these videos, not just selling them if asked as you essentially imply here. YOU have chosen to represent them - push them. As for Avid being the industry standard, have you looked at their stock? They slid just under 20% today to $6.37 - in one day! They were at $63.05 in early 2005. People literally hate them. How long do you think their "standard" can last?

Well, no offense intended either but its literally amazing that you would make a comment like, "it's absolutely absurd how worked up people get with their Avid hate". In one condescending statement, you've totally dismissed out-of-hand the really bad experiences Avid users have had that led to the real and massive negitive reaction you're seeing. Are you suggesting those things didn't happen, that all these people are "absurd", and all of this is some kind of mass hysteria? Are you serious??

@Starlite4321 Really man... this is starting to sound like unfounded political propoganda.... we DO sell other products, and lots of them. Avid is NOT the only brand that we carry... it just happens to be the world standard. You want to use something else, we will help you determine the best alternative, no problem! In our studio, we happen to run two HD rigs along side loads of other serious gear... we do that becuase that's what the artitsts,. producers, adn visiting engineers require.

Look, the bottom line is, Digidesign/Avid has been raping their customers for years - many many years. Those customers have been getting more and more angry over time and they're getting to the "mob of villagers at the gate carrying torches" stage now. Clearly, dealers like you have been profiting from this as well. But what a reputable retailer should being doing now is helping customers find viable alternatives, not continuing to push their garbage.

@Starlite4321 There are lots of alternatives, and we absolutely sell those too... no offense intended, but it's absolutely absurd how worked up people get with their Avid hate. Now turning it towards us? Don't shoot the messenger... Avid employs 100+ software developers, which costs a fortune. To the extent there are better software alternatives for the same cost, people will indeed migrate. Until then it remains the professional and industry standard, not that you can't use other things...

The sorting out needs to be done by Avid execs that have, apparently, lost their collective minds... even more importantly, they need to re-hire DTS instead of throwing fuel on the fires that are already burning against them.

@danander11 Well, if we can be of any assistance in terms of understanding all of the options and cross-grade possibilities, we can certainly help.  In the end, we are just the messenger. As far as what they are bringing to the table with regards to both software and hardware these are truly huge leaps forward in terms of the capabilities that they had just a week ago. I think it's a good thing for audio, and we just try to stay out of the politics which (can and do) get nasty

@NotoriousMLC It depends how you calculate it... keep in mind that while tracking at 24-bit on the way in, and now mixing in a 64-bit environment utilizing 32 bit floating point processing, the change in headroom makes the mixing engine un-clippable. We aren't sure how they arrived at 1000dB of headroom, but for all practical purposes, it basically sounds like there are huge sonic improvements (including the headroom increase), in addition to the amazing cache/ram utilization improvement.
