Clearly Grosso tried to round him, but there simply was not enough time. When Kneel's elbow makes contact with Grosso's knee, and the ball is lost, Grosso made no further effort to go for it. Why do you guys bother when it's obvious you don't watch the sport, let alone the game in question. Kneel did not touch ball, he elbowed Grosso in a tackle where he KNEW he wasn't going to get the ball but hoped that by acting as a speed bump he would slow or impede on Grosso's forward movement. He succeeded in doing that but in removing a legitimate try on net, he costed his team the penalty. It matters little as Italy were going to score very soon.

Well most one-eyed fans who come around during the World Cup think that running at 100mph and holding the ball in the middle of the pitch, in part by default (Italy giving up possession due to being down 1 man unfairly) is good soccer. 1 - Materazzi made a bad tackle as did Neill,but the difference is that Matrix hit Zambrotta and not Bresciano. Bresciano actually collides with Zambrotta first (innocently) and then embelishes the fall. Even the neutral commentators noted this as fact.
