She is a sublime pianist! plays with a lot of heart and has a very sensitive touch, while at the same time looking like she could manage any crescendo without effort!b Brava,
not sure the exact name of the piece, but I'm pretty sure it's from Schubert's songcycle "Die Schoene Muellerin" (sorry I cannot type umlauts) It's really quite lovely in the original. I like Fritz Wunderlich's recording myself.
I saw Tatiana play on Friday 29 August in a concert in Melbourne as the 2nd place getter of ther recent Sydney International Piano Competition. The pieces included the Pletnev transcription of The Nutcracker Suite, Schubert's Wanderer Fantasy and Stravinsky 3 movements from Petrushka, some of the most difficult in the piano repetoire. Her playing is truly phenomenal and for me it was the concert of the year! Also her obvious sheer enjoyment in playing makes her a delight to watch.
You should try to see Konstantin Shamray and Ran Dank, too...that was such a close final- I love Ran Dank's tone, especially when he play's the prelude no.8 bk.1 in E flat min.-Bach. If you heard it on the radio, you'll know why I'm raving!
Let's just ignore the little bitch-fight going on below, and actually focus on the content of this video.
I think this is a very tender, subtle performance, which exhibits her wonderful touch... very suave! Watching this, one can experience the love and passion she feels for what she's doing, which permeates the performance with nostalgia, lyricism and rapture- the gist is, I found it a very emotially satisfying performance!
"hand style movement"?? do you know how absolutely retarded that sounds?? don't give too much credit to child prodigies in offering technical insight. you end up sounding completely moronic, saying shit like "hand style movement"
I am meaning the way she is moving her hand up above the keys. Look at the left hand in the beginning of the video. Your cursing is unecessary. You need God in your life.
Mmmm... many pianists do use this sort of hand movement, and for many, yes, it does help, in that you live the elegance of the piece which consequently enhances the style in which one plays- however, I wouldn't state that this is derived from any particular source. The use of hand movement is very personal, as is movement of the body when at the piano. I think that 'pyroprince78' was (as with many unnecessarily aggressive people) merely wanting a response, to confirm his/her existence.
Bravo!

She is copying the hand style movement of Aimi Kobayashi. Aimi started this and it works!
