i saw the new gnr or as i called them axl and friends in nov. in worcester MA. i have to say not as good ill give you, but when you are at a live show the new band sounds amazing and has a great feel. Bumblefoot better than slash? i dont know it can be debated but personally the second slash played with the black eyed peas i will forevor view him as a sellout.

I think that the version of 1992 in Tokyo is the one that almost get the recording version. Despite that I've love too much the old guns dont get me wrong, cause I like this new ones. Afterall Bumblefoot and the drums player are very very good.

People want to talk about old gnr all day long but people forget: Put any other guy up there in GNR singing and you would really have nothing. As fans, we're lucky the band is still going and that Axl still wants (or needs?) to perform. This show was incredible. Bumblefoot and DJ Ashba were spot on and get my vote- Really crowd pleasers as well.

@Estranged68 Sorry but Slash wrote those licks, there's no way Bumblefoot can play them better. Just like Slash couldn't play Bumblefoot's leads any better because they're not his. Not hating on new GNR though, I definitely enjoyed the show. I love both Axl and Slash's new stuff.

@RockinRollTrain Slash's technique is and was so weak that he often struggled to play his own stuff correct. Slash has many botched live performances under his belt. It's therefore perfectly plausible for people to rate the performances of a true virtuoso like BBF technically better. Out of key is out of key, and Slash had a lot of that going on. Want to talk "feeling" (which is a subjective internal concept) or "authenticity", than be my guest, but don't tell us BBF can't play better...

While Slash is a legend in his own right, you have to question a few things here: One, he has had more than a few botched live performances, and has struggled getting on key with his own material. Makes you wonder that with GNR becoming the biggest band in the world at one time, if somehow their heroin and booze problems somehow rose to stardom as well-wouldn't have been that hard with what is said to be one of the greatest front men ever to become famous if you can nail out a few licks.

Check out what he's done with the Godfather solo on his latest DVD. The same goes for GNR too, they have sounded pretty bad on several occasions too, but they've really gotten in the groove lately and AXL sounds great. I don't see how you can even disagree with me, I like both bands... wtf man

You are not qualified to make any qualitative assertion about a musician's "feeling" based on a solo. If anything, in order to become a virtuoso (like BBF) or to be considered a virtuoso, indicates that one was dedicated to improving their technique or musicianship.
