Police officers inspect vehicles to make sure they are in compliance with safety regulations and to ensure they don't have any contraband. It's for your safety. Asking you or in this case telling you to not film is understandable. If you film and post everything they are doing then the people attempting to break the law will see how they operate and learn what things they can get away with.

@Born2Flesh The filming of government officials while on duty is protected by the First Amendment. If a cop tells you to stop filming, then he's violating your 1st amendment rights. No ifs, ands or buts. It's illegal. You better get your facts straight. Before you start running your mouth, I used to be a cop. Our Chief told us "it's illegal to stop someone from filming you". That is a nationwide law.

Never understood why cops don't like being filmed while working.
As an EMT, I was always proud when ppl would film us and show the world what we do.
I have friends that are Law Enforcement, and its weird to never hear them say anything against things like this.

I am watching these tapes and I also must consider the Law for ourselves,as we are holding these folks accountable for thier violating the 1st amendment. This part I understand completely, however ,at what point does the 1st amendment begin and end, when the occasion should grow to be a public disturbance.. such as Preaching the Gospel at a public event ,loud enough to bother all other activities at that event.? i enjoy listening to some of this douchebag's viewpoints but when you do this type of work day in and out you lose sight of when you are as blindly one sided as "they" are. most people do not like a camera in their face, it's a natural response. young cop didn't seem too bad after he realized he couldn't use intimidation. had the camera person been a weak soul his tactic would have worked, the cop likely learned more from this encounter which is good for both sides.

Just FYI, it is illegal to record video or audio of a police officer in IL without first asking them. I believe it is the only state with this law and they know it. It's always a bad ideal to try and be assholish with them about it.
