I'd have to agree with Ed on this one: I am a Native American and Ford falls apart on dirt roads, Dodge over heats easy in the hot summer sun in Arizona and I'll have to admit that GM trucks lasts longer than any car maker! My 2008 GMC Sierra likes to circle Ford; enhancing that's where the problem is and likes to throw dirt in a Dodges face! Love those GM cars and trucks especially!!!!
The "Golden Age" of the automobile is over! Cars nowadays are no more than computers on 4 wheels and become more so every year. We will see a return to beautiful design and quality appeal; it will just take time. Just sit back, relax, and realize that what we are seeing on the road now will ensure better cars to come in our tomorrows.
Gm is a strong company which has the newest designs and one of the best milage. Where Toyota tries to trick stupid people in thinking their cars are the best and saying their cars are affortable. Well, that is true but they rip all of you people of because it is made by cheap material. Gm has really good materials and in addition, the milage is amazing of 20 where mostof toyota's cars are about 22. So Go Gm and stop waisting your money on Cheap scap metal toyota's.
Save AMERICA BUY AMERICAN PRODUCTS!... dont feed china our economy...America Saved an AMERICAN company... There is no deduction on your check "GM LOAN" so why r u complaining!? GO GM!
And i own 3 mustangs... but id be damned if there are only foreign car dealerships... everything else is foregn now a days...
Ed Whitacre released a commercial lying to his "investors", the citizens of the USA. I wonder if he just thought that we would be too stupid to figure it out? When these new policies don't work, and we finally adopt a few that do, this is one of the guys that needs to be dealt with via public hanging.
I would like to trade im my Corvette and I will take my money and go buy a Porsche 911 or a Lamborghini Murchilado, GM sucks balls. Their only two good brands were Saab and Pontiac.
Government Motors is the world leader at one thing.... BEGGING for money! Since this horrible car company already failed miserably last year they are being kept alive (for whatever reason lol) with Welfare money now. When they say 'may the best car win' its a suicide note.
Many economists would argue that it was important to keep GM and Chrysler alive (and Ford too -- which received government support in other ways) in order to preserve jobs in this country and our manufacturing capability. Especially while we were in a free falling economic collapse. The result of letting these two giant corporations fail could have been economically disastrous. I'm encouraged looking at the future product programs GM has in the pipeline. It's not over yet.
@mrpitv "he result of letting these two giant corporations fail could have been economically disastrous" Then maybe those two corporations shouldn't have gotten so Giant and over bloated in the first place! I always said let them fall. IT might have a huge impact but you know what. Someone will replace them with probably better quality. I want to see a new American car company. Not the same old GM and Chrysler bullshit begging for money when it was their fault in the first place.
@mrpitv yes, and more credible economists have argued the reverse. Please identify the scientific analysis which separates "Too" big to fail and big enough to fail. GM is a shit company and not enough people wanted its products (hint: think lobby size). that is business. Now this lying POS CEO is claiming the paid back the loan. 1. "they" paid back $6.7 billion of the total 52 bil; 2. it was paid by a separate tarp fund, i.e., "they" didn't pay back shit, taxpayers did. Fuck GM
SAAB is a basket case and it only sold 94,000+ cars last year. It can be argued that it was too much of a niche vehicle to make it in today's environment even if GM hadn't done its bland magic. But I know there are other niche vehicles, like Bentley, that have done well. Then again, even Porsche is struggling. A real combination of the economy with the former GM management's inclination to stamp out the uniqueness of everything they touch. Let's hope Whitacre gives his enginners support.
Well, a lot of auto companies have had trouble all over the world. Every car company has received some form of government support in order to survive. If we'd had national health care our car companies wouldn't have gone broke trying to pay benefits. But they appear to be back on track and let's see how well they do.
Arhem, you win Ed? Dont fucked up with ppl. The last thing I remember that GM wins the Bankrupt competition and I do not recall that they win on "best cars".
interesting. I saw some of the concepts for the new Cadillacs, a coupe and a couple of sedans. They look great. I think GM is going to surprise people. They have great engineers, great designers, good manufacturing capability but they've lacked the executive commitment to quality and had lost their boldness of vision. Let's hope they've learned from this near death experience and forge ahead with great products that people really want. Not just cars that people buy because of loyalty.
I've been waiting four years for GM to honor their warranty. They are all crooks!
Hey Ed I've challenged you in just about every ad you have posted here to MEET ME ON TV where I can prove how dishonest you are.
Don't pretend you haven't been getting my offers. MEET ME ON TV.
If anyone thinks GM is honest e-mail them and ask WHY they are afraid of my evidence proving their warranty is not lived up to, and their advertising is a fraud.
hey bud. if you didnt hear or read about gm when they filed for bankrupsy, they asked the government if they could drop ALL warranties on ALL gm vehicles out there, because it would'nt PROFIT them. how is that for screwing their loyal customers?
You don't get all your money back!! The guarantee doesn't include dealer's fees or automobile taxes!! You'll could lose $3000+ dollars if you return your Chevy!! The 60 day guarantee is a ripoff!!!
Maybe GM couldn't really guarantee 60 days before from breaking down and now they can.
They are making such progress....
5 Year 100,000 mile POWER TRAIN Warranty. Whoa, who doesnt offer that?
He says "Car vs Car we win. It's as simple as that". Really, then why havent they been winning?
He basically didn't say anything. They might as well just show a big GM logo on the screen and play some cool music so people could stop what they doing to look at the commercial.
I posted a video response here at youtube called "GM Best Car Win Con Game" but all these Pro GM video posters refuse to post it. Are they afraid of the truth?
You are a liar and con artist. Meet me on TV and I'll prove it!
Even a GM vehicle can go 60 days without breaking down. New GM my ass. Same dollar store vehicles, same douche bags running it. If a person is dumb enough to even be seen in one, they're dumb enough to keep it.
yep. roughly the same number of regretful people who put Obama in office. putting a million people behind a dumb idea is still a dumb idea regardless of the shiny marketing. Don't forget, mcdonald's has served over a billion and the food will kill you.
SERIOUSLY! This GM try it for 60 days and bring it back for a full refund------ why would ANYONE pay more than demo price for a new GM while this is going on? You know damn well that if you bring it back they are going to lock you in the sales office until you agree to buy it back at used car prices or pull a weapon on the manager--- why not cut to the chase? Car executives do get 'innovative' when they have the backing of free taxpayer money, don't they?
Great rebutta, pgrego1l! Are you saying BM, I mean GM, won't refund 'all' of your money as they claim? Or, are you saying the dealer won't be marking down returned units to reflect their used status? Either GM is lying, dealers will be selling used cars as new, or my reasoning is spot on. Surely this ad campaign isn't as hyped up and phony as a 240mpg Volt?
Then tell me why I need to be educated. You tell me I'm wrong, then support my statement. Buy the car new, bring it back and they will try to get you to keep it at the used car price! Why wouldn't they? They'll have to sell it used to someone or eat it, won't they? Either they are lying and there is a penalty for bringing it back, or you'd be an idiot for not paying used car price. I wouldn't buy one on principle alone, but I would damn sure take advantage of them if I did.
Or, do you object to my statement that GM deserves to go the way of Edsel for claiming to 'put our money where our mouth is' when they have 80 plus BILLION taxpayer dollars that every competent analyst says they will NEVER be able to pay back? They FAILED! So, in the New America, we reward incompetenct and corruption with borrowed money taken from those that succeed, present and future.
While the jury is still out about GM and Chrysler's ability to pay back their loans, GM has a better shot, and trying to rescue part of the backbone of American manufacturing isn't a bad thing. I'm all for giving them a shot and hoping for the best. Government's around the world have stepped in to rescue their own industries. No reason the US should have sat on the sidelines.
