Is the cause of humanity not in the past to have striven for power control and modeling the universe in our image. For some to do that they feel only death and destruction is their tools on the canvas of reality. I do not believe in such things nor the idea of their practical use. But what defines us makes us more whole more true than evil or chaos.

I love the Emperor for what he did but I can't see my self siding with the Imperium. The Emperor is practically dead and the Throne is apparently failing and the Mechanicum can not fix it. @dothot50 He was badly wounded in his battle with Horus (one of his Primarches) during the Horus Heresy. Then he was encased in the Golden Throne, which contains life-sustaining machines. This and his strong will and psychic powers keeps him alive to help his empire, even though his body is quite rotten after 10,000 years of encasement.
And regarding the: won't the Emperor hate what has become of Humanity? Think about it... I doubt he has any hatred for Mankind and probably understands that transforming him into a religious icon was the only way his fellow men knew how to survive. His children were dead/traitors or missing... so the people needed hope and strength. Where would they get it from if not from him... Why else would he endure what he endures for 10k years if not for his love and understanding of His fellow men.

@Migueria I dont know? All I know is that Tyranids are almost never affected by The eye of terror, nor are the necrons. I always saw those two as the worst. Chaos are themselves divided by ideology, such as the Iron Warriors.

oh he would certainly hate how things have gone, for one evreyone worships him and he always said that he wasnt a god and wanted humans to focus on science instead of religion but after he died that didnt come to pass.
