my great grandpa was fighting with the Vietnamese, not against them, but while he as there, he was captured and killed, another soldier brought back his dogtags and now i wear them around my neck and never take them off.

My dad had to escape from the war while my mom waited for her dad to come out of jail. My dad had to watch people die from sickness or drowning. My mom had little food while her mom had to raise 10 children.
There should be two Vietnams. Plus China and Russia would be friends/buddies of North Vietnam. South Vietnam is friends with Korea(south), America, Taiwan(ROC) and other ally nations.

Canada did play a part in the Vietnam War. Once the U.S. joined in on the war, Canadian men signed up to be U.S. troops. Tons of men were sent to Vietnam. Canada tried to stay netural, however America got pulled in. Even though it may seem like Canada didn't do much, there are some Canadians that saved lives over there. I'm Vietnamese myself, though I live in America due to my parents escaping the country because of the war.
@moofeverx3 my parents are from the Southern side... by the time my dad was 13 he was in America. it must have been horrible in Vietnam that made them leave there family....including my grandpa, i think he still alive i want to meet him someday.
@FireSparrowX My mother was 15 when she came to America and my father was 17. My mother left without her family. Her mother was already dead of cancer. My parents barely made it to America alive. Most people on their ship were dead or crazy. My dad was from Saigon and my mom was from the country. Years later, my dad heard his father and mother were dead. It's such a horrible past. Childhoods stripped away from teenagers and children. When my mother told me her story she was sobbing by the end.

Lol the countries involved should have been Vietnam, China (1000 years rule, and countless border skirmishes), France (100 years rule), Japan (came after the French) and finally America.

Vietnam soon made their own customs and language after. But many people still debate about this, though this is true. A lot of other Asian countries did break from China to form their own cultures etc.

Ok, can you tell me how can Vietnam came from China? I know northern enemies occupied Vietnam for some short terms, but we repelled them at last. After every victories, we had our own kings and declared independence. Temporary colonization under the northern doesn’t mean Vietnam came from a northern country. I say northern as northern country doesn’t mean modern China.

VN is the Most-Influenced-Cultured country by China (compared to Japan, Korea) but NOT come from China. China included many small ethnic groups : Han, Hui, Tai...VN also an ethnic group but we had our own writing system already ('y can google "chữ nòng nọc/ chữ Khoa Đẩu" to know_it's one of the lastest researches abt VN) before colonized by Chinese in 207BC. The thing that I absolutely hate most about the aftermath of the Vietnam War is how some Americans still hate the survivors of the war just because their family didn't make it out alive. Some people hate me and my mom just because we're Vietnamese (her father was a general for South Vietnam, RIP). Just a saying to those people: Quit hating on them! Lots of people died in that war. Stop being so selfish because some families lost more than just a family member!

We are influenced by China most and longest ( compared to Japan, Korea,etc.) but VN not come from China. Vietnam soon made their own customs and language after. But many people still debate about this, though this is true. A lot of other Asian countries did break from China to form their own cultures etc.

@LadeeNabi It's not me, it's those who wish to eradicate war. "Make love, not war." is a message most would want to say unless they absolutely love war and destruction. I'm a pacifist and the "War" here was not by me. I wasn't taking any side whatsoever, thus being neutral.

Ok, can you tell me how can Vietnam came from China? I know northern enemies occupied Vietnam for some short terms, but we repelled them at last. After every victories, we had our own kings and declared independence. Temporary colonization under the northern doesn’t mean Vietnam came from a northern country. I say northern as northern country doesn’t mean modern China.

China included many small ethnic groups : Han, Hui, Tai...VN also an ethnic group but we had our own writing system already ('y can google "chữ nòng nọc/ chữ Khoa Đẩu" to know_it's one of the lastest researches abt VN) before colonized by Chinese in 207BC. The thing that I absolutely hate most about the aftermath of the Vietnam War is how some Americans still hate the survivors of the war just because their family didn't make it out alive. Some people hate me and my mom just because we're Vietnamese (her father was a general for South Vietnam, RIP). Just a saying to those people: Quit hating on them! Lots of people died in that war. Stop being so selfish because some families lost more than just a family member!

We are influenced by China most and longest ( compared to Japan, Korea,etc.) but VN not come from China. For example, according to recent researches, Vietnamese had own writing system before we were colonized by China in 207BC ( u can google for " chữ nòng nọc"). And also, our Aodai is inspired by French fashion, not Chinese Cheongsam.

Vietnam orginated from Southern China, haven't heard of anything about us being close to Malaysian, mostly heard of us being closer to Chinese, Thai, and Indonesian.

I don't remember much about the Han or anything, because if you haven't noticed, i've learned only that China was one of the ancient civilizations and other stuff i have already said. that's basic 9th grade history you learn in america. I'm Vietnamese but live and born in America, so i can't read or write in Vietnamese, since it's my parents found no need to teach me.
