  • I never knew judo was this gangsta until I started learning grappling from Chris Herzog. Geez. I would love to add this to my BJJ game. WOW!

  • karate+judo+kickboxing=complete fighter

  • @ajishso Yes. I've been doing karate for a year now, I'm continuing with karate but I've just had my first session of judo today and it was seriously hard core. 40 mins of ground grappling like this, they went easy on me seeing as it was my first session but they could have killed me if they wanted to on so many occasions with choke holds :P It's scary to realise just how futile my martial art is as soon as it gets to the ground.

  • @ajishso muay thai + judo...

  • @worldsmostfunrocker exactly dude...muay thai is a dangerous martialarts...specialy its elbow fighting...

  • @ajishso yese! complete fighter and compound by three MMA fighter; Parisyan, GSP/Machida and Mark Hunt, :-)

  • @andoyomark80 Don't forget female MMA star Ronda Rousey. Olympic level Judo. And she's amazing. Armbars for days.

  • Near me there is both BJJ and judo which one should i go for

  • @gonefishingstudios do both if you can. But you will notice an insane difference at Judo with good ground technique. And at BJJ if the club starts with standing then you will notice a huge differnce against others with no Judo background. But it has to be said, they both compliment each other.

  • Awesome footage.

  • Pretty awesome footage.

  • ohmg, judo is amazing and tough , and this video shows it!

  • lool i am from uk

  • LOL 1:07

  • You need to understand,BJJ and more importantly Jiu Jitsu comes from Judo,to believe a country like Brazil discovered this is insane.Only thing they came up with is the thong and giant asses

  • WHAT A BORING MUSIC FOR AN EXTREME VIDEO

  • Judo seems like a very hard art to master and that’s part of the reason it’s so entertaining to watch but I also really like Kung Fu and all the martial arts movies that are filled with it. I just watched the new movie “Films of Fury” and was so excited when it finally came out on demand because it had some of the best martial arts clips I had ever seen and had a lot of great information on the history of the films! bitly .com/uBGPir

  • @monchthekid you know judo is the man:)

  • @monchthekid

    Sees throw in Judo match:

"Wow that was pretty cool. Great technique."

    Sees throw in BJJ match:

"HOLY $HIT DID YOU SEE WHAT THAT GUY DID? MOTHER#%^K THAT WAS BEAUTIFUL!"

  • May you tell me between brazilian jiu jitsu and kosen judo?

  • @tiripepebanbo123 jiu-jitsu matches are long and you can keep going if you are on the ground, in judo you have to b very fast to do you grapples or submissions(when your throw doesn't fully connect) otherwise the ref will order to stand back up. in judo throws are the prime, and newaza's are the root.

  • 2:40 she is Ayumi Tanimoto

  • man these refs are slow to react, people tapping out everywhere and ref in terrible angles not doing anything

  • Do you practice Judo normally? I've always thought that Judo is primarily about throwing your opponent down and that it would be the difference between BJJ and Judo. Or am I right and this is just some special kind of Judo?

  • @K7Z947 Olympic style Judo is about throws. Pre WW2 Kodokan Judo is the parent style to BJJ, and most of BJJ's ground techniques come from Kodokan Judo. Jigoro Kano created Judo after studying many styles of Japanese Jujutsu. One of Kano's students was Mitsuyo Maeda, who traveled to Brazil and tought Judo to the Gracies. Maeda called it Kano Jiu Jitsu, as westerners didn't know the difference between Judo and Jujutsu. He also spelled it Jiu Jitsu, which was the early romanization at the time.

  • @K7Z947 judo are alot more explosive in their ground work, mostly about finishing (because it is timed in competition)

While BJJ is mainly about movement, position and control, they take their time and make everything perfect (no time limit on how long you can stay on the ground before you get stand up).

But they both came from the same origin, japanese samurai

  • Why is ne-waza so under-emphasized in today's Judo competitions? It's so annoying!

  • @ThatKidWiththeDice

Because of Olympics.. Olympics want to make it more dynamic and entertain the audience.

  • i like me newaza

  • Very cool. CHECK OUT MY JUDO VIDEO on a U of M JUDO demo!

  • Wow, that is impressive! I used to practice BJJ but had to resign due to new borns. I miss it dearly.

  • Why I'm watching this video 100 times before training ?

  • is there a guard in judo? im from austria and there are no bjj-clubs only judo.. i want to go judo, but i go because of the groundgame, throws are good but ground is more fun and i love to roll.. i hope they teach some things of this video?!

  • @lumpdu There is indeed a guard used in Judo, it's just not really called that. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe there is a proper name for it. That said, during groundwork I normally make use of open, closed and butterfly guards depending on the situation/opponent.

  • @Sentry459 I've read a judo newaza book written by a French 3rd dan in the 60's (Andre Valin, learned newaza under Tsunitane Oda), in which the BJJ guard is called...a guard.

  • @lumpdu yes sir there is its called do-osae i believe.

  • whats the song and band?

  • @HumveeRazon i'm not sure but i think i heard this song on the album "gasoline" by Theory of a deadman.

  • 1:08 is he dead?

  • @mikemyers25 no hes not dead but could someone please explain to me what happened there? at first glance i thot it was a body triangle but then his legs werent touching. i have no idea what put him to sleep

  • @TheImmortalDeth look at blues left hand, it is pulling whites lapel against throat under chin.

  • @Fitty2blox wow a clothing choke out. when i spar we take our shirts off so noone uses their clothes as a weapon

  • @TheImmortalDeth its legal lol

  • @mikemyers25 nah he just got knocked unconscious lmao

  • @mikemyers25 likely unconscious

  • BJJ and Judo. It's real simple. All the techniques are the same. Bjj is pre WWII kosen Judo. Kano wanted to get judo into the olympics so the rules were set to emphazied the take waza takedowns. So Judokas spend more time testing the takedowns in real sparring conditions. Bjj peeps are taught all the same takedowns but they spend all their time testing out the ground game.

I do both bjj and judo, it's all the same but they practice time is spent differently.

  • @Terneyah: Pearl Jam, I guess, but I'm not sure..

  • song please...?

  • @Terneyah Creed - torn I think

  • @tiripepebanbo123

I already figured that out. But thank you. :)

  • @Terneyah You're welcome brother.

  • the last one its beautiful

  • the problem is what the bjj mcdojos promote..brainwashin theres a difference/ you got people that would swear up and down there different would never use both words in the same sentence there response is exactly what the flyers say like a commercial when they respond back to you especially when they say judo has no ground and theres where the rivalry begins my dojo divides the time half newaza half throws if your school aint teaching both find another , but i notice slowly some are acceptin it

  • @sonnych69 BJJ goes 4 the sngle or dbl leg takedown 99.9% of the time! No nage waza! Not to say that they don't train in nage, but u seldom see it in action from a BJJer. If ur in a fighting situation in which u have to avoid the ground at all costs then what u gonna do if ur nage sucks? On the flip side, these Judo matches show superb nage waza but the submissions come way too easily. In this regard BJJ seems to have better defense vs the submissions.

  • @osensei2987 a arm bar is a arm bar a choke is a choke you learn how defend against it in class if not your teacher is not doin a good job with that said a judo choke is the same as a bjj choke a arm bar is the same as arm bar in bjj yes leg locks are not permitted but was taught in early judo cause i seen video of early kosen and their were a few . personaly i belive judo submissions are tighter and straight to the point no fancy mambo less energy spent watch a judoka do newaza its like a boa

  • @sonnych69 IDK what ur point is. My 1st point is that BJJ does not put enough emphasis on nagewaza. Instead they rely on dbl leg and single leg takedowns for the majority of the time. In real life, u can't just shoot for a dbl or sngl leg takedown for every situation. Being able to throw an attacker while remaining on ur feet could mean the difference btw u escaping or getting caught up in a mass attack situation. BJJ/GJJ discounts mass attacks as hopeless scenarios it seems.

  • @sonnych69 My 2nd point is that, while the judoka in this video display excellent nagewaza, it seems that they are submitted way too easily. I think BJJer would have taken much longer to submit if at all in the same situation that u see in many of these clips.

  • @osensei2987 If I could add in my two cents, it would seem that the reason for your second point is the argument of your 1rst; that is: judoka hands down have better takedown abilities than most any other martial artists around, but because of this they tend to put less emphasis on finishing an opponent once they've hit the ground. This is the exact inverse of BJJ, which doesn't care so much for nagewaza, but spend 80% of the time training newaza. It's almost a paradox if u think about it...

  • @sonnych69 That is very true look at KoKushikai Judo camp high level instructors they even have professor David Adiv he is featured in 2 of Royler Gracie books BJJ submissions grappling and Gracie JIU JITSU submissions essentials he teaches Ground at the camp and he is a 3rd black in BJJ also trains in Judo

most Judo schools are changing their mind set on the ground game making Judo that much more useful

  • Judo and BJJ come from the same tree. Just some work more on different areas

  • great, but now many of this tecnique are forbidden

  • I'm a BJJ guy, but I love Judo for reasons made clear in this vid. As far as I am concerned if you claim to be a BJJ person, but for some crazy reason you talk crap about Judo....you don't represent Jiu Jitsu. JUDO THROWS ARE SWEET!!!

  • @stidhemw I agree totally. I am a 33 year Okinawa-Te stylist, but "weekly" study Kodakan Judo and BJJ, with my workout partner. I hate when MMA guys put other styles down. I also studied Aiki-Jujutsu for a number of years. You can never learn enough. Funikoshi did not invent the punch, Kano the throw, and Gracie the arm bar. They just made them famous!!! It's all about timing.

  • @shureikanshihan Honestly, gracies did not make the armbar famous... What he made famous what defeating big people with chokes. Early UFC(1-4) there was a judoka who armbar a guy and the gracies were doing chokes back then (if i can recall)

  • @OVERCAPITALIZE Yes you are talking about Hoyce, I was meaning Helio the father years earlier, he was great at arm bars. But when they name a technique after you "Kimura" ( A Judoka ) because of how good you do it that's when your a master. I guess I'm showing my age.

  • the name of the son is Torn-Creed

  • /watch?v=zmGmuDoQxzQ&feature=relmfu <---- please watch this judo-video of me from Scandinavia championship -100 kg, i am 87kg only!! subscribe and Comment please! :D

  • 1:40

  • I feel left out in my Judo school i left for two years and everyone can kick my butt now. lol

  • Please put the old music back!! Its been a long time since ive watched this video but i think it was a blackeyed peas song. I used to crank it up!!

    Please change!!

    Great Video!

  • Creed doesn't go with Judo! Damn it! Stop putting Creed with Judo vids!!!!!

  • @skrimpshidy i agree. that music fucking sucked. should have put some hard rock in it.

  • this song go hard

  • @skrimpshidy I found one that had Disturbed, it fit real well. Sorry I don't have the link, but I'm sure you'll be able to find it easily.

  • 1:40 was epic

  • What country does GBR stand for? Forgive my ignorance.

  • @twobitmage Great Britain? I think

  • They got to put Newaza in Olympic competition, more time and more points for submission. The art will evolve that way also.

  • great video

  • super

  • 75 people have tapped out...

  • @AaViRo Newaza is Judo, so you should learn from the first day. And it´s funny and safe.

  • @AaViRo you start learning submission grappling once you are senior, juniors don't do submission grappling but they do do hold downs and all that. They also can still watch the older guys training and are allowed to participate sometimes but in comp they are not allowed to submit opponents so it isn't a major part of their training.

  • What is the technique called at 2:26???

  • @AaViRo depends on the dojo... first and most important thing are break falls, I had those along with a basic throw, a sweep and a chokehold in the first training sessions... go and check it out

  • @AaViRo you usually start learning it after you learn break falls, a few good throws, and pins.

  • @AaViRo You learn Newasa right from the start :)

  • these guys look really good/ think alot of use bjj guys over look judo coz bjj is in fasion

  • lol the guy at 1:05 looks dead

  • Instead of trying to divide bjj and judo, accept there similarities. Stop complaining! Be smart and train in both!

  • @angrysincebirth Or you can do kosen judo

  • @angrysincebirth BJJ and Judo.

  • @oneguyincalifornia Tsunetane Oda was the "Kosen" judoka Kano entrusted with developing high-level newaza. 2011 is the 100th anniversary of Oda receiving his shodan from Kano himself.

  • @BloodofPatriots - very interesting. I'll look it up.

  • @oneguyincalifornia i keep telling people the same damn thing but everyone is so damn ignorant, u are very intelligent and open minded, like a true martial artist

  • @navyteccs - Yes, I train in both. It all comes down to Randori / sparring. This is where you apply the techniques in real life situations. Everyone is taught the same stuff, but due to Olympic rules, Judokas spend a lot of time on throwing / tachi-waza techniques. Maeda who came to Brazil way before the 1960's Olympic rules taught the Japanese all the same stuff. However, the Brazillians spend the majority of their randori on ground work. There are no extra techniques - Randori

  • @angrysincebirth

I dont get it... Why not just spend more time on the ground in your judo club? Sure you might not get top notch ground game, but it does save alot of money. At least you'll get an edge when you do switch clubs..

  • @OVERCAPITALIZE

I do both BJJ and JUDO. If you don't train in both you are missing out!

  • @angrysincebirth

Excellent thought!!!!!! It's amazing how both practitioners from both styles seem to continue with the arguments as to who is better and so forth. I've been doing jiujitsu for eleven years and absolutely love it. However I love Judo and really like the very fast and aggressive ground work the Olympic level guys employ. Both styles rule!!!!!!!!!!

  • @angrysincebirth i do judo, bjj, japanese jj and ninjitsu and i can tell you for a fact tht if you go into a judo tournament and also do bjj then if you manage to get the fight to the floor you will win, bjj dominates the ground and judo dominates standing.... both are very gd together

  • I'm sorry, I have to respond to the comment that Kano is a theif. Kano Sensei promoted Judo as a type or a way of practicing Jujitsu. He stated repeatedly that he didn't mean to replace Jujitsu. In fact, in the early days, Judo was refered to as Kano Jujitsu. Sambo and BJJ are inspired from the Judo Kano promoted. Kano is the most influential person in grappling martial arts and to call him a theif is very disrespectful.

  • @pilotryo very well said

  • @pilotryo First of all, he made the art to preach moral values. It is extremely disrespectful, but there will always be people out there who would have voted Bush for a 3rd term.

  • @pilotryo I am BJJ all the way, and everything you just said is true. We are the child of Judo. Ossu

  • @pilotryo Correct. It is really disrespectful. Two students of his went to start other arts from when they learned from Kano. Mitsuyo Maeda taught the Gracies who created BJJ. Vasili Oschepkov, Kano's first European black belt in Judo created Sambo. Kano is the start of it all. Many styles of Jujutsu back then but he made it simple. His idea of randori is one of the best things that could happen to martial arts. These kids dont know anything. They are idiots

  • @ArmyMPsoldier Kano saw many competitors being killed in Jiu Jutsu competitions of his day. It is said that many competitors said their final goodbyes to their families before leaving off to an event. Kano sought to create a more humane practice of Jiu Jutsu. Judo was born from this effort.

  • @pilotryo I second you and bow to you sir, Judo came waaay before any of these plata go mata bullshit techniuqes.

    tora tora tora

  • @judopathoftruth LMAO @ "tora tora tora"

  • @pilotryo hey what's the difference between Newaza and Nagewaza? sorry I'm a noob at Judo

  • what tune is been played

  • 1:38 was pretty slick.

  • @sLevnZelevn I was about to say that. What a great recovery.

  • @PankrationWarrior as i said , he is foolish brazilian xD

  • The major difference in Bjj and judo is the emphasis on No-gi BJJ plus BJJ becomes more technical when it comes to transitioning on the ground and its not always about staying on top

  • Is it Shinya Aoki at 1:25?

  • good vid thanks for the post

  • is that hector lombard at 2:15 ?

  • Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is just Judo Ne-Waza with minute changes to certain techniques. The Gracies are really a bunch of thieves and punks who want respect but show none in return.

  • @eyez666 yup dude , you shot in da bulls eye .

  • @eyez666 If thats true than Judo is just Jujitsu and Kano is a thief...

  • @Wartooth369 Kano developed his own style of Jujitsu. He named it Judo. There's a history to it that Jujitsu schools were banned for a time because the Japanese public thought that the art of Jujitsu was promoting violence. Kano called his art Judo to avoid being banned. That's one of the stories.

  • @Wartooth369 judo is pretty different from japaneses jiu jiutsu (jjj also includes fighting with swords and stuff) but yes it is based on jjj techniques... judo and bjj has are way more similar than judo and jjj

  • @ThomasMin1988 Not to nitpick, but the Japanese call it Jujutsu, not "Jiu Jitsu." That's why Judo is called Judo, not "Jiu Do."

  • Does anybody know that judo was invented in 1910 and is based in Jiu Jitsu, they took away all the dangerous moves. Here you can see top level competitors mostly olimpics that´s why the tecnique is so perfect, really amazing.

  • @steve5284 No, Judo(way of yielding) is based on Jujutsu(art of yielding). That's why it's called "Judo" and not "Jiudo." Putting I's in the word is a western mispronounciation, like the way 'Gojira' became 'Godzilla.' Jigoro Kano only took what he considered the best techniques from various Jujutsu styles and combined them in a way so they could be practiced at full speed without harming the practitioners, so that the skills could be better developed in live drills. BJJ is Gracie-style Judo.

  • 1:39 is really good ;)

  • both judo and bjj are very good ne-waza sports! However bjj is a more modern and street/selfdefence based in ne-waza.

  • 73 people were the losers at these events ;p

  • Judoka give up their back so easily makes for easy chokes.

  • @SuperSneakySteve judo fighters are hardly unaware of chokes you must be bjj you guys think you invented ne waza well you didn't and i can tell you a black belt judoka is very competent at ground fighting as royce gracie found out when Yoshida knocked him out

  • @SuperSneakySteve Man it is true that some Judoka do give up their back but even then there are many so strong that even then is almost impossible to get a technique from their backs.

  • This rule's!!!!!! Soooo much better than BJJ. Love the freekin cart wheel throw counter. Wish I could train this in my home town :) Have to train BJJ :(.....but think of it as Judo NeWaza. My Aikido Sensei came from Judo :) Rock on!!!

  • The coolest was what made the man from 1:40

  • @666historia no not is dead :-j

  • @BoGdYJuDoKa is it legal to choke opponents until they dont respond?

  • 1.06 dead?

  • @mejia93 Lol i thought he was abt to do leg lock... cos high grade judoka do learn leg locks XD

  • 0:40 was about to apply leg lock but realize he was in a judo competition lol..

  • @oOGreatLordOo he was not applying a leg lock, he was controlling his foot to turn over him and get the inmovilization, if u see the judge started to score the inmovilization, the opponent tap coz he cant scape for inmovilization, not for strangulation

  • What was that weird triangle choke while grabbing the leg??

  • judo = take downs + throws + ground fighting

  • that's some of the fastest submissions i have seen, how come all this time i never knew this was in judo and bjj is so popular ?

  • @streitco well... this is a compilation. you can't expect all judo (or all jj/bjj/sambo/whatever) matches to be like this ofc.

  • looks just like bjj minus the wrestling takedowns. now i want to learn judo

  • I like the last fight, Yamashita doing an Uchi-Mata and ends up doing an armlock (Waki Gatame). Awesome!

  • 1:05

    RRRRH-

    "you killed him"

    ...

    HURRRRAHHHHH!

  • @ilikethisvideoo Haha your comment just made my day lol.

  • Comment removed

  • HAHAHA @naaib11 ur a moron if u think this is BJJ, yeah they look similar but its Judo, we can do groundwork in Judo too

the main give away is the kit, theres no stickers all over it and most fights are blue and white kits to make it easier for the judges to see whos doing what, and theres clearly a lot more throws being tried which are trying to land the oppoenent on thier back.

though I do like BJJ too, I do both, but still we dont need ppl like u mixing them up and confusing ppl.

  • Хорошая подборка

  • this is real judo! not Olympics shit, I quit Judo cus of the crappy Olympics rules :(
