I tried to help save a friend's dreadlocks who had been using wax, but they were too far gone and had to be combed out. Gross doesn't begin to describe the way they smelled and looked.

I've had my current set of dreads for about 7 months. My first set I had to take out because of school. However, my second set is doing a lot better because I used no wax. There's no "good wax" even if you don't over do it it's hard to get out. If you want something to keep your dread from getting frizzy, use aloe. Wax is bad, I speak from experience.

LMAO that was hilarious man, yeah mine are 2 months old now, I didn't use any wax, didn't even need to use rubberbands, I just blunted the ends with a crochet hook and they have not really came apart much at all aside from a few loose hairs occasionally. I have just been washing it 1-2 times a week with baking soda, and putting diluted tea tree oil in it.
