No, it is definitely not supposed to do that... check again and see if that is really the case... I am assuming you mean if you kill a 'mottled boar' then you wont get any exp from killing another? You should open up a GM ticket if that is true, or just try starting a new character...
you used every frikin cd you had! when i had my mage i whent there too, cept i had a lock come with me. have mage gather as many as possible, then frost nove, and let seed of corruption do the rest :) of course you can throw in the arc explosions too :D

If you like how mages kill things fast, but dont like mana you should make a rogue...
You wont be able to do huge pulls and such, but the rogue is basically the Melee mage.

if you have the money, but you can only use 1 per battle you enter (When you enter->and in turn leave combat).
They normally cost a lot, so if you get the Professions Herbalism and Alchemy you can make your own.
