I did not volunteer as a firefighter, I was sent by my fire department and the american red cross to help..I did not fight any fires, however I did report one lol!
@firefighter0144 - Oh, I am so sorry, Danny. All these years I thought you'd volunteered. But you were willing to go and you wanted to help. You are one of the heroes. :)
I agree Karen (so odd calling you that, this is Danny) This video upsets me sometimes, but it also lets me know that God covers ME! It serves as a reminder to me that REVENGE ISN'T MINE TO TAKE! I sometimes have a hard time with the events that took place that day. It is His grace that helps me carry on! And though heartache surrounds me, I know his love is around me! And NOTHING can seperate me from Him not even ignorant terrorsits! So yeah I think this song fits just fine. That is all.
@firefighter0144 - You can call me by my middle name since it is what you've called me all your life. I don't mind. :)
I am glad that the song comforts you. That's why I used it. It has always brought me comfort when I'm hurt or upset. Vengeance is hard not to take but by His grace alone we can leave it in His hands. He'll take care of that. That would scare me if I were them. Being in the hands of an angry God.
I finally understand. I glory in my weakness so that your His strength can be seen in me. I have suffering so that I and all of us are drawn to Christ
i knew of this song b4 i saw this video this is the cry of my heart but I am torn between a God that allows things like this and a love that is so great he will send his Son to die. How can they both be true?
@bjacobs4347 - "But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. Matthew 5:44-45
As long as sin is in the world these things will happen. Our blessed hope is for the day when sin no longer exists as we spend eternity with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is our Blessed Hope!
What a precious song that has helped me , when I felt I failed God, and couldn't possibly ever be forgiven again! But this song would lead me back to the truth of Abba Father's grace and forgiveness in Christ! In Christ's Love, BobbyK
Thanks for sharing this.So many wonderful old contemporary (talk about an oxymoron) christian songs have been lost to all but the memory of a few.Steve Camp was one that truly had music with a message.Btw religion is manmade thus fallible. But the word of God isn't. Technically Judaism is the only God ordained religion & man managed to mess that up too.Jesus came to fulfill the law not change it.Old Muhammed came much later & originally believed in the Bible.
This song saw me through so much when I was a child. I grew up in an extremely abusive household. I would listen to this song over and over, and it was my anthem. I am 31 now, and this song still brings me to my knees. Thank YOU Lord for covering me all those horrible years. I know you never left me. You promised me that one day I would be free, and because of your son Jesus, I am free indeed. I love you Abba............ and NOTHING can separate us. Thank you!!
I am sorry for your loss of your brother, but I know your heart is comforted by knowing that his inheritance through Christ is his reward. And this song by Steve has blessed me for years. I continue to listen to it whenever I find myself struggling with any type of sin in my life. For all those opposing, we as Christians are not haters of people, but only of sin, and its effects on mankind and the world. Haters of people, are not true followers of Christ. Just a clarification there.
thanks Karen for the post what a blessing this song was this am, a momenof renewal I needed thanks and God Bless ...saw your reformed page ..tell me a little about your self and your group...Give Thanks
@lornstar6 - Apology accepted. :) No worries. I don't hate Muslims, just their religion. It is a religion of hate. I know that not all Muslims hate as the terrorist do, but they are worshiping a false god, following a religion that is nothing but hatred. I think that is what was meant here. And I do pray about it, about them, for them, and I pray about my own feelings of anger each time I see destruction brought on others by them.
@KarensFaith I just read your post and yes I am a christian as well who feels just as strongly about Hate, Muslim Religion, and such. I did not catch everything about your brother however you are in my thoughts and prayers this day and others. Speaking from the side of the Oklahoma City Bombing as a student teacher and having to live through that and 7 of my students lose a parent I know the struggle of hate. take care and please feel free to contact if you wish tedlamb@hotmail.com God Bless
@KarensFaith thank you for posting this I love Steves music as for the topic hate is so much easier to maintain that love for everyone I always pray that Jesus will show me not to hate since hate and anger is all around God bless and have a great evening
...and i don't mean that previous comment as a disrespect for Christianity. I just have no patience for that brand of Christianity which celebrates its hatred for others, and which urges violence and killing in the name of Jesus.
Frankly, KarensFaith, I think if Jesus were to show up again today, a pretty good chunk of the American Right would crucify him all over again, because they wouldn't recognize him. Who were the Pharisees but the religious conservatives of their day?
A: Nothing, except that a bunch of misguided Christians like cmdesign01 use their faith to justify their hatred. Jesus said "Love your enemies, pray for those who hate you", while cmdesign01 says "I hate Muslims".
This is virtually as close as a hymn can be to me. What does 9/11 have to do with it. Especially in light of the fact that it was written and recorded long before 9/11. This wrecks the song.
@stevenhedda - I am sorry you don't like that I used this song by Steve Camp. No matter what life gives us, when our hopes and dreams have been destroyed, Jesus will ALWAYS cover us.
By the way, Steve Camp knows I used his song for this and he doesn't have a problem with it. :)
I agree... this song has absolutely nothing in common with 9/11. It is a shame that it has been posted as such. It is wrong and irresponsible to portray America as a whole as all being born again Christians 'covered' by Christs blood. It is simply not true. It degrades the songs meaning... badly as far as I am concerned!
@laughing4younce - Sorry I don't agree. The song is to bring comfort and peace. I know very well that most of America is not Christian. This video was intended for Christians and anyone who was involved in 9/11 for comfort, hope and faith. You totally misunderstood the video. So sorry that you didn't "get it."
Thank you Karen, God bless you. I wasn't sure why people were picking on you ... I suppose there will always be those that don't like whatever you have to say in the world. Whether it's relegious or not. However "finatics" of any faith ....especially those combined with their culture will always be on the fringe and insecure in their faith making them very hard to reason with. Still though... it's God's Truth that the world needs not lies and hate.
I'm sorry but I can't stand to listen to lies and I can't stand Islam. it's both a culture and a relegion. And one filled with hate and anger against christians and christianity. I just can't stand Muslims. Allah is a demon and so was muhammad. I welcome anyone who wants to contend with me on this. So far reading both the Bible and the Koran..it's very clear and evident which is one of love and a message of truth and one that is full of lies and deceit.
@cmdesign01 In my humble opinion we have to look as Jesus would look - with compassion and pity, and knowledge that eventually, just as Christendom emerged from the Dark ages of brutality & terrorism (cruades), so too will Islam.
@cmdesign01 God doesn't hate those that hate him, He loves them. You once were a hater of God, we all were until we accepted Christ and became a Christain. Aren't you glad God didn't hate you to the point of not allowing Christ to die for you. God doesn't hate people he hates sin. He doesn't return hate for hate, he returns love for hate because he overcomes the evil of hate with the good of love. You should attempt to be more like God, that is your goal in life as a Christain, right?
I'm sorry but I can't stand to listen to lies and I can't stand Islam. it's both a culture and a relegion. And one filled with hate and anger against christians and christianity. I just can't stand Muslims. Allah is a demon and so was muhammad
Thank you, Christ. Thank you for men like Steve Camp. Willing to sing about things dear to them in a world that proclaims it's foolish to sing about these very same things. thank you for men like Steve Camp. Thank you for your Son and if it's possible...Oh Father ...help me just have this song in my heart when I go to sleep tonight. No more nightmares or bad dreams. Let me just rest in assurance ofy our love and faithfullness to me Oh Lord.
I love this song! It helped me through out my youth with my walk with Jesus. Today as I veiw it from a 9/11 point of veiw it has a new meaning to me. Yesterday I left my husband in Mississippi. You see, he's in the Army national guard. He'll be leaving for Iraq
@THESOULbornold If you are this site and listening to Steve and being moved by his music, I believe you are being drawn to the Holy Spirit though you might not yet recognize that it is He that is wooing you. Sometimes music does what nothing else can.
My parents used to have a Steve Camp tape when I was a child back in the eighties, which included this song. I've never forgotten this wonderful song since then! Thankyou so much for sharing it Karen! I liked the video too. God bless you!
What is interesting is that the perpetrators of this hate the cross and yet the very destruction they caused created one of the best crucifixes I have ever seen! Praise the Lord!
Amen to that! Such a beautiful cross amidst the horrible carnage. God's glory apparent to all those who come to the cross of Jesus and believe. Even it the midst of such horror, there is hope.

...oh crap. I just see now that your brother volunteered in NYC as a firefighter. Oops.
Well, accept my apologies (and respect). My parents are Christians, and though we disagree passionately, I still love 'em.
Again, my problem was (and is) with a kind of faith that celebrates war and hatred. Whether Islam or Christian, hate is hate, and war is war.
