  • yeah dude your music made it feel like i was there more lol

  • The music on the origional is much more subtle and atmospheric , far better suited to this film.

That said you obviously have talent.

  • is 1:19 or 1:20 a wire???? looks like it

  • I agree with sortilegus. The original short was meant to make the audience "ooh ahh" at the quality of the visuals. For this purpose, the original score fit better. If the intent had been to depict the quality of the direction and presentation of the suggested plot, your score would be ideal. Then again, that's just my opinion. Either way, very well done.

  • I think your score is great, well executed and a nice piece of score music.

It's an experiment and I like that - I love the original and I love the footage, but I quite liked hearing your score over this image.

    Good work... keep scoring!

  • Fantastic...but crap music to this...

    Topscore from me.

  • On the other hand, the composer of the original avoids the trap of action by using very low beat almost inexistent so as to represent the interior anguish/anxiety (like heart beat) of the viewer. ONLY THE VIEWER CAN MOVE IN THE SPACE.

  • No matter what I have said about your composition, this doesnt mean that you should stop composing music. Of course not.

    Good luck

  • Let me for a minute explain something obvious but neglected.

This is almost a time-slice shot.

    What we can call time-sculpture.

In other words what musically signifies time like the beat you ve got or rhythmic violins IS WRONG.

  • It is out of concept.

Although there are some good moods in your music, the main function of beats desynchronizes the idea of the film in itself.

    A graph:

    ------------------------------------>SPACE I I I I

    V TIME

  • For everyone who feels my score is too 'dramatic'. This is a short developed to showcase new technology designed by Philips. If this was shown at a trade show, with the original music, I feel it is completely lackluster considering the grand scale of the visuals, not to mention plain boring. I feel my score brings the short to life. Again, thanks for all the feedback.

  • The original score is better, its not supposed to be an action scene. Its a mystery scene, where they reveal that the cop it begins/ends with is actually one of the clowns. THe original music had much more of a mysterious, ominous sound

  • this score is good, but it's overstated. the beauty about the original score, as others have said, is that it emphasizes the visuals, whereas this score makes itself too blatant and is a little over the top. still, it's great music, but in terms of cinema, the original works better for the material.

  • saw ur comment and came to see if it was better. i like the clown music in the first one :D. mad props though this is still amazing

  • Cool,

still like the original better though

  • the original score puts emphasis on the visuals - it's also far more subtly tense.

i do love this redub though. much more action-centric.

  • Sorry, I liked the original better... :)

    This is why:

    1. Love the music in the original, your's to "upbeat" and not "moody" enough.

    2. Seperation, speration, seperation. You have to much sound/music competing in the same frequency-spectrum. Try to EQ more, or use sound that complement eachother.

    3. The low-quality of some of the music/sounds put me off sometimes.

    4. Sometimes the foley or the music gets to strong compared to the other.

But, this is just my opinion... :)

  • thanks for all the feedback so far everyone, I really appreciate it!

    derelic7-

I agree with you on the fire. If you are a music producer then you should understand what I am about to say. I use Cubase Se3, and with the newest Quicktime update, it refuses to sync my video, so I literally produced it outside of Cubase, and manually synced the foley sounds to the video, but you are correct, it does come in too soon. Thank you for taking the time to listen, and your criticism is appreciated!

  • The introduction was very good, but you raised the levels of the crackling fire too quickly

melody was way too generic in the first indoors scene

    the breakbeat was too upfront,

ending strings were annoyingly generic as well

The strength of the original score is that It's original, recurring, which binds the entire segment together, yet subdued enough to leave room for the visuals and their actual stillness

  • I like both versions, good job man.

  • the original score is 100 times better. Leaves a more eerie feel.

  • niiiice work dude! 10 times better than the original!!!

  • Really, a great job.

  • Nice job. Totally different feel to the visuals with this sound piece. Changes the pacing entirely.

  • excellent job but i think i prefer the original score since it gave a more eerie feeling

  • I agree with ninja... although i Love the direction you went once you got up to the 2nd level. Great!

  • ya i agree. good job on making it seem more epic...
