ranger has been made into long range / close range (if needs be ) type character pure long range would have to be theif i do warn thief is new hard caracter to play very complicated.

yes and no. yes the ranger can either play as a long or short ranged character depending on the choice of weapons. and no the thief is NOT a "pure" long range character as it is like the ranger and can play either at range or in melee range. actually if you look at all of the released professions (Elementalist, necromancer, warrior, guardian (limited ranged skills), thief and ranger) they are have effective skills that they can use at range or in melee distance

i think they have base classes which can lead on to other classes for example in aion you can be a scout as the base class and when you hit level 10 scout allows you to either be an assassin or a ranger.

@BloodShott22 They are showing off the skills, while killing low level mobs. That's why they die so fast. No idea how much skill it would take in PvE, though. However, the idea is that whether you succeed or not will depend on how you play(skill) and not on what gear you have/how much time you spent grinding for that uber epic piece of armor. Anet have stated that there will be events that differ in difficulty. Also the explorable mode of the dungeons is supposed to be hard.

I had to remove my previous post, it was worded badly. I think this game is going to bring some new, or at least more refined elements into MMORPGs that will prevent this from being a standard point-and-click. Whether old, new, or original ideas, I hope this game is everything I expect it to be. After anticipating FFXIV (and many many other games), and seeing all of it's flaws firsthand, I'm a bit tired of being let down by game companies who build hype and fail at what they do.

Of course every game will have it's flaws but I truly believe GW2 is one of the few games willing to learn and advance from it. @StrellitaCG Reading the Guild Wars 2 Website will help alot. But as a lowdown, here goes: GW (original) Was good at delivering a new style of PvP but was dwarfed by other games in other respects. As for a good char in PvP - Its all up to you. People play differently - While one might be best as a ranger, another plays well at warrior. PvP in GW2 (from what I have read) Seems to be restricted to specific arenas, much like the first game, although it looks take players from different realms.

@fonstw Devs didn't want a game which there would be specific classes needed and leaving out others with builds that didn't work for groups. They wanted everyone to be equally good as their own hero. So instead they gave everyone a good self-heal. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean that there won't be a class for ex-monks. As they've said to have made a class specifically catered for them.

Also, the classes CAN wield multiple weps, even those that are not related to the class to have new skills.

But you should still just get the first one, since it's just $10-$20 dollars, and if you get Eye of the North with it, you get a room where you can add your heroes, pets, and other things so your characters in Guild Wars 2 can get them.
