@chavedappelle I see your point - but this is a far stranger, sexier song- albeit in the Marc Bolan sexual vein. Which was not a little different than 70s Robert Plant's take on eros.
JTerrible: i couldnt agree more with you than with all that you said! People didnt realize and what a control freak ms. jones really was. if he hadnt had met her he might be still alive...
Tho' I hate speculating on private lives given the unjust, anti-Erotic, puritan-patho-biases of people & the press: Ms.Gloria displaced June (J's fault in being SO intolerant) because she likely a Sex-Goddess; G's work in Africa shows a conscience; for all that, I intuit Marc wd've lived longer w/more great work; Greco-Roman culture recognized that artists/poets are a delicate species, need taking care of;G failed him in this, overbear'd his stage on Midnight Special, sabotaged by yelling, etc
bullshit, he died in an accident, he died simple as, theres no other way the rest is bullshit, blame whereever whoever doesnt change the choices the guy made with his life and doesnt cjange the fact he died
Drugs are an effect not a cause; Marc Bolan used drugs most of the time responsibly, including SCAG, claiming it magnified creativity; he'd some trouble in 74 & gained weight---but he cleaned HIMSELF up, no blob-psychology, shallow, American-style rehab; 1st wife & soulmate JUNE truly protected him & overjoyed him; new wife: ego-mania, hamming on stage, killed Marc steering their Rolls into a tree; his LAST material was superb: Dreamy Lady =romantic genius. USA broke his heart in rejecting him.
Oh for sure. Nothing rocks like The Slider and Electric Warrior. Having been a big Hendrix fan for years, I see his influence on Marc and I think Marc did a great, unqiue thing with Rock after Jimi died, to carry the torch. T. Rex is still very under-appreciated here in the USA.
The Slider was my first TRex album ´cause I wanted to learn english. I lived in Peru and I was 14 y.o. All lyrics were included in a red background. After this, I became to T.Rex fan forever. This vid sounds very good.
I saw Marc Bolan in 1974 and I've never been the same since. He said "hi" to me and I've never washed my brain since. Gloria Jones kissed me. Wow what a day..what a life.
@Garrison2 hi garrison, i also met marc and gloria in the robin hood hotel in newark nottingham but it was on the futureristic dragon tour in 1976 they were very polite and i got both their autographs, i took a photograph of marc and my then girlfriend carol together but never thought to have my own photo taken with him, shit was i thinking i must have just been that overwhelmed with meeting him lol
when recording the solo marc played it ford and then it was played backwards on the record and the funny thing is it sounds the same if u play it forwards
FUCK ME!!!! im 28 and i've seen this mother fucker live only on old footage with RINGO STARR!! and this dude fucking had it all!!! thrust of the hips and a OOOOOHHHH!!! and he had young girls the days of my mother, cuming in their briefs!! i swear this man made more women flick the switch! than all those modern day artists thats a fact!!
My fav from the The Slider. Was not released as a single because 'chorus was not in the title or vice versa'. That's how competetive the scene was back then.
In summer 1972, as an eleven year old T Rex fan, but too poor to afford albums, I recall a dj on Radio 1 saying that this was going to be the next single. It wasn't, Children of the Revolution was. But it is a brilliant song. Only heard it once in them days, and it still stuck in the mind!
I've always considered this to be my "stripper song" i.e. what I would strip to if that was my profession. Such a fun, energetic song!
