It means that there is either a G amino acid or a T amino acid at that position(G and T aren't the proteins). Having a different amino acid can result in a different protein, but it is more common for single nucleotide substitution to result in the same protein. Cool video!
SNP (pronounced "snip") is a "Single Nucleotide Polymorphism" which means that it's not a huge chunk of DNA that's missing or inserted, but rather just one basepair (letter AGCT) is different than other people. The rs# refers to the specific mutation (SNP or otherwise) on a chromosome. rs#'s are handy because there are so many changes in the human genome that databases can track research on that specific spot in your DNA with that rs#.
Just so you know: Hemochromatosis is not anemia -it's rather the opposite "Iron Overload"... something to watch out for. Get Ferritin levels checked on a regular basis!
There is a gene for doing all the usual same stupid shit everybody else is doing to make yourself think you look different from everybody else, it is many of the traits that afflicts liberals, without even having to look at your profile, you have the rdr4 gene.
my sister has celiac, and the girlfriend of one of my oldest friend (ie) the girl next door, both have that. I had 75% chance of having that was well as i was showing symptoms at the time... well lets be honest i had been on the road for 24 hours to visit my sister eating road food....you can guess what the symptoms are :) my sister is also very convincing... after going through the incredibly horrible tests for that disease im good, can stil eat pizza :) i had a point to this cmnt bt no mr spc
I'd like to do that next year. Do you know if you can get a karyotype without all of that extra stuff as well? Last semester I took Anthropology, I loved it, but I found that my boyfriend might have Klinefelter's Syndrome. It would be funny if he did as I have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. I'd like to get him tested to make sure. Oh, genetics! You're so funny and interesting.
@Rabbitsketch Well you'd both have to get one done separately of course. You can get just the basic thing done but it's still cheaper to wait til DNA Day next year because I think the cheapest kit right now is around $200.
Klinefelter's Syndrome... Isn't that when you have either XXY or XYY instead of the usual two sex chromosomes?
Covering your name won't do you any good... when I reverse engineer a clone of you from the data you've provided! Mua ha ha ha!!!!
My wife and I had our DNA profiles done, and I converted the information into a bar code. We tattooed each other's bar codes around our ring fingers en lieu of traditional wedding bands. They turned out incredibly well :)
Please can you tell me where did you get the DNA testing for a 100.00 dollars great video .

come to think about it, they actually have a sample of your DNA in that company now; they could clone you if they wanted to;
do they take orders? and more importantly: do PandyFackleresque clones also come with funky haircuts?
