@HigherPlanes - The word "consequently" requires some context. You must have a sentence or clause before it. In the above clause, "his wife divorced him," it would be better to keep that as the second part of a compound sentence. However, if you want it to stand alone, that's okay.
@learnamericanenglish Thank you for the explanation. I enjoy your videos. English is my second language. I think that sometimes a sentence sounds wrong in my head even though it's grammatically correct. Annoying habit.
