@KabuKabuForex YES , indeed. the hyuga can operate the f-35.But it can carry a few of them since the hyuga is in fact not designed to be an ac carrier.
Stealth design is highly compromised by networks and passive sensors. It is zero advantage against modern defenses. But people here still thinking it is the ultimate weapon. Seriously people are blind because of governement propagande. The F35 simply will cost around 180M $ and will have zero advantage against jets sharing informations of all sensors by network. Was better to build 3 upgraded 4.5 jets for price of 1 of this.
@santanderino91 The USAF may as well just equip themselves with Super Hornets and compliment the squadrons with additional EA-18 Growlers for stealth. Australia and the US will be the only ones to use these.
F-35 is very similar to the Yak-141 design It also used the combined power plant, cut off from the lift fan is also available in the cockpit and up-and-nozzle propulsion engine also covered by the tail boom, while their length is less. As it happens, because in the mid-1990s, developer of the F-35, Lockheed Martin, briefly worked with the Yakovlev Design Bureau. in 1995, the Russian government sold the Americans all the documentation on the Yak-38 & Yak-141
@max444yellow You can say that about any military technology to date. Most of the technology used during the design process is out of date by the time the end product hits IOC (initial operation capability). But the thing that sets us apart is the fact that the Chinese and Russians are only just now putting out their first stealth fighters using our old technology. So presently we still have the upper hand... now if only congress doesn't dick it up....
@harris3693 I definitely dont doubt that. We have had really smart foreign nationals defect to us since we became a country...I know the German scientist were legendary for their brilliance in WWII. As long as they dont defect back we are good lol.....
@harris3693 wrong how would someone from the ussr get into skunkworks as a job? Why do you outsiders never want to give credit to the US, and always want to give it to some OTHER, no matter the OTHER
Aesa radar and aesa jamming 360 degrees around the rafale. It is better equiped than the F35 including the long range meteor. Now with f117 shootdown, B2 spirit detected by many radars, USAF still trust in this expensive craps ? It is a waste of money. It was much better for USAF to have high agility jets with outstanding autoprotection and heavy payload in mass production. I hope your jets will never fight highly manoeuvrable russian jets in a dogfight. Tthis suppository looking is not a match.
I just say F22 and F35 are total craps. The F35 is trying to do exactly what the rafale has : advanced autoprotection system and battle manager. But you spended to much in passive stealth that can be quickly outdated and gives the plane poor aerodynamics capabilities for dog fight and manoeuvers. You don't have long range ir and cam to shoot without radar emissions. The planes are too much expensive and will be more. Rafale invested in low RCS with outstanding active stealth.
But you have forgoten quickly thatthe french helped you for your independance. Here in france we still remember kicking british ass out of USA for you, meaning economical ruin for france with the war. And just after this, americans started trading with british again when frenchies were still searching some money after a war in most oceans of the world with royal navy and expeditionary corp in US.
You don't respect France man. But the first wings in the world in military were the frenchies in 1908. And if you are not informed, US wings have been made with french planes and instructors for the first time in world war one. So you have no respect for the country saving you of british queen and helping you to built your first attempt of air force. Here in france we don't forget us help in 44.
And look at lamborghini history, it is the first in the world for racing cups record in just 50 years. They don't compete anymore but they still have the record 40 years later. The most expensive car in the world is a collector lamborghini. It is like 20 million dollars. The first countries in history to produce cars has been germany and france ( panhard levassor / merces benz daimler ). And aviation fathers of aviation are france and USA.
In the french salon of automobile we were all laughing every 2years with american cars. The paint color looks like a california tunning, and the insinde is always yogurts plastic quality. This is the american handcraft ?
And to refresh your selective memory. Eurocopter is french and is leader in the world helicopter market. Ariane5 ( french) is the first satellite launcher in the world market ( where are space shuttles and US launchers ?). Airbus is world leader in jet liners ( french). Dassault aviation is world leader in luxury business planes ( french). And all this without forcing third world countries to sign up contracts against some us protection. So chrysler voyager superior to french bugatti veron ?
@FXWorldBeater no no, only the motor is from germany, all is made in france. Bugatti is the world record of competitions car before volkswagen invest in. Just before ferrari. So what about the space shuttle ? still exploding in the air or in the museum ?
@santanderino91 "So what about the space shuttle ? still exploding in the air or in the museum"
You do know the space shuttle was decommed to allow for the new cheaper SpaceX rockets don't you? You do know that spaceX will have the cheapest rate per kilo of any carrier in the world right, and that we are already using spaceX falcon9 rockets?
You really should research more. You are aware that Ariane 5 has had as many crashes as the Shuttle right?
anyway as boring as it has been talking to some kid with sub 90iq from some obscure third world country, I've got a few intelligent people I need to converse with who don't go around in circles.
Have fun next time your loudmouth president picks a fight with someone who actually has some weapons. I'm sure your little toy rafales will scatter the ground nicely.
@FXWorldBeater you intelligent ? i have so many doubts...
I wish you good luck for your hamburgers diner. Hope you take care of your medical insurance because here in america somebody can die of a grippe when he has no money. Here in france medical insurance is Free for everybody for 60years ...
Bye bye fat american boy, i wish you good luck to refund the credits to china ahahahah.
@santanderino91 Bullshit ,only the chasis is made in France and Tyres Michelin everything else comes from Germany and also from Sweden Engine,Gearbox, all the mechanical components, electronics ..Its not a French car its a German car assembled in France !
Parts are not made in france because they cant built 2 factories just for 300cars. The part of france where is assembled lamborghini is 100 kilometers of germany, this is the real reason. I hope you don't say that frenchies can't do cars, because we have 3 brands peugeot renault and citroen for sale in most countries in the world. Here at 5kilometers of my home is engeneered the formula 1 renault motors in viry chatillon city. world champions motors lot of times.
Do you think rich and connoisseur people dreams to drive a chrysler, to read the time in a Timex and to wear calvin klein made in china under wears ?You are really a clown. I'am sure when you will have money you will be the first to buy a BMW, a swiss watch and to buy french luxury products and food.
@santanderino91 hilarious that your are trying to claim the credit for other euro countries acheivements. Those other nations are on a whole different level to the french.
The only thing you actually came up with that was french was "luxury products and ummm food" .... YAY NICE WORK FRANCE!!!!
Because you still was a band of farmers incompetent to do a war with professionals like red tuniques. Another myth of your country is the minute man. Repeating lies and lies 100 times finish to make people believing you. Even mel gibson to pretend minutemen had won the independance war. What a comedy, if frenchies were not here you still be dancing with Navajo dress, to do boston tea parties.
To finish this sterile discussion, in my opinion f22 is a failed concept. Planes in price range under 100m dollars can do the same or better. Even the cheap gripen equiped with meteor can shoot f22 with netwoerked infos at more than 100 kilometers...
@santanderino91 sorry, you can plug your little 4th generation pretender aircraft all you want. The proof of how good it is lies in how many foreign sales it has made ....... 0 ..... out of at least 10 bids where it had to compete with other fighters.
Nobody buys it, even though you say it's soooo cheap. The reason they don't bother is because it's nothing special. Any 4th generation aircraft flying today can defeat it.
There is nothing special about the rafale .... at all.
And pierre sprey is right, f22 need to activate his radar to identify a target. You cant shoot anything flying there is rules. Activatibg radar can make thef22 detected, it lack of passive long range cam to identify ennemy targets with 0 radiation. The same for f35.
@santanderino91 you talk a lot about visual detection using cameras .... you do realise that IRST's can only spot an aircraft from a maximum of 40km if the fighter is coming head-on right? The F-22's superior supercruise speed and altitude allows it to engage headon targets from 130km+.
Trust me when I say that visual/IR detaction is not an issue for the F-22.
Are you giving up ... oh wait, you're french .... you guys are the kings of surrender, right?
@FXWorldBeater False, first generation OSF was given to 100kilometers +. And they are being replaced this year by an upgraded model. Again you are a liar. IR and Cam detection not a problem ? Rafale THermal signature is proven to be much better than F22.You can check it on some rafale videos, landing on the carrier deck and filmed by thermal cam. The Thermal signature of the F22 has not been treated correctly, it is like firework for rafale sensors. Shooted 80km with mica & 120/130km with meteor
@santanderino91 "False, first generation OSF was given to 100kilometers"
Learn the subject matter dummy .... this is vs an afterburning aircraft flying away from the sensor.
"The Thermal signature of the F22 has not been treated correctly"
Ahahaha the F-22 can supercruise at m1.8. To even do mach 1 with a weapons load, the rafale needs to use afterburner. The heat signature of an afterburning aircraft is 50 times more than an aicraft on mil thrust.
@FXWorldBeater The rafale as super cruise too, with standard motors it just need some seconds to brake the sound barrier and then can stop after burners. And with the new snecma motor developed for emirates it can do it without any afterburner. The supercruise is also useless. This is only usefull for a country like yours, russia or china. Because they are vast. The time when you needed super high speed to stop soviet bombers is finished in the 70's...
nope, no its not. Only when its carrying NO weapons which does not = a supersruising fighter. Also in the US its not considered supercruise unless it can do m1.5 with no afterburner. Rafale can barely break that speed WITOUT weapons loaded and at full afterburner.
Supercruise useless AHAHAHA. Supercruise is the most important IR signature reduction method there is for air dominance fighters. Learn the subject matter dummy.
@FXWorldBeater So you are saying to me that the rafale 10 000kilos 140KN trust with new motors is slower than 15000kilos JSF with 150Kn ? Damn what a pathetic liar you are....
Please, just stimulate your intellect and try to compare the Trust/weight ratio....
@santanderino91 "Please, just stimulate your intellect and try to compare the Trust/weight ratio"
Thrust to weight has nothing to do with it. Parasitic drag has everything to do with it. Looking the superhornet flight manual, for every 2 external missiles attached to the aircraft, top speed is reduced by m0.2. So a rafale with external tanks (required to equal the F-35's range) + 2 bombs + 2 missiles would barely be able to fly supersonic AT ALL. A loaded F-35 flies at M1.6
LOL watching you fumble around aircraft specs and getting them completely wrong is like watching a baby with hand gun. Stay away from talking aircraft .... you have no idea what you're talking about junior.
No, the most important thing for air to air fighter is to have the best missile range, and this is the case of the meteor that you dream to copy or buy. And in this case that the combat becomes a dogfight, to have the more manoeuvrable plane and pilot skills. The rafale is more agile and manoeuvrable than both F22 and F35 because theire stealth design downgrade the capabilities compared to previous gen of fighters. And the meteor has 2times the range of your amraam, being also faster with ramjet
@FXWorldBeater Yes, i'am sure all american systems are the best because boeing says. JUst like F14/phoenix quickly retired and space shuttle, just like F117 "invisible and invincible bomber" ect...I am pretty sure you are also better than russians at ir + cam long range detection and helmet target designation. When they do this for 30years, isn't it ? Hey man some respect for french army. Our royal regiments&navy kicked the ass of superior british expeditionnary at cheasapeake bay and yorktown
@FXWorldBeater What i can say is that i have never heard of an american good product. ONly apple can do good things and it is made in china, not USA. All fine and luxury products comes from europe man. I have never heard of a great dress designer in the US, or a fine watchmaker, or luxurious cars etc...etc...
Man here in france we have Bugatti veron factory, not chrysler voyager. And i could stay here all night saying names of famous french products and from rest of europe too.
@santanderino91 "All fine and luxury products comes from europe man" You're mistaking France for Germany, Italy and Switzerland. France is just the poor, ugly cousin who everyone has to be nice to just because they're in the EU.
Nobody knows what france has invented other than frogs legs. Lol, irrelavent little backwater country.
Lol, keep trying to justify your worth, its hilarious watching you grasp for straws. :)
And i don't comment about agility of F18 compared to rafale. The rafale outmanoeuvres F18 easily. Even the good old mirage 2000 WAs better than F16 and F18 for dog fighting and air to air. So imagine a newer rafale...
@santanderino91 Rafale ... agile .... AHAHAHAHA. Have you actually seen it at an airshow, its a snail. It almost falls out of the sky every time it tries to do a sustained turn.
@FXWorldBeater Yes this is why you can see videos on you tube with F16 and F18 kills inside rafale HUD but nothing with a rafale being killed by an american HUD : watch?v=lKOl-ASZMjs & watch?v=miUJZpBqFqE.
Please american fanboy, stop with your lies about rafales...
All people looking this message, please check the videos. The rafales are kicking Superhornets and F16 asses, maybe the pilot can do this eating pop corns because of super maoeuvrability of THe rafale....
@santanderino91 WAAAAHAHAHAHA .... in those videos the US jets are out-turning the rafale. You should really learn the subject matter and know what you're looking at.
I'am really having fun with your comments. NOstradamus transhorizon radar station in france detect all B2 "stealth " bombers at more than 2000kilometers in UK everytime. And THe only thing justdowned by a 40 years old sam was a F117 "stealth" fighter. The main designer of F16 pierre sprey says this planes are pieces of shit, but you still dream with it...
So the guy who has developped best us air force jet ever don't know about concepts ?
@santanderino91 "So the guy who has developped best us air force jet ever don't know about concepts?"
Ah yes, the Pierre Sprey "stealth aircraft are pointless because they need to get into visual range to ID the enemy anyway" argument ..... Everyone who has shot an enemy aicraft in BVR combat (ie. pretty much every pilot with a shoot down in the last 20 years) laughed for days over that one.
To finish. I hope you are not saying you have aesa first because you are more clever ? Do you know the cost of a program like rafale compared to F22 ? It is infitnitly cheaper for an excellent result. We have no problems with rafales, just with money to upgrade this planes. So it is longer to have an aesa inside ( 2012 ). And man your comment about 40 years old radars make me laugh. If this is true, why when F22 encountered rafales in exercices they refused to connect the spectra And OSF ?
@santanderino91 " they refused to connect the spectra And OSF"
Why? because its a kiddie story made just for plebs like yourself. The USAF has no problems sending aircraft to exercises with their radars on because they just put them into "training" mode. Radars in training mode send out completely different signals and signal patterns to their combat modes. Every military radar features a training mode. Anyone with basic knowledge knows that.
@santanderino91 "So if this is true, why they don't connect the radar when rafales are here ?You can't answer ?"
Because what you "heard" or what you think you heard is just a little kiddie fanboy story. The real story (which you maybe did not understand) is that USAF do not engage in BVR exercises using the F-22 with anyone but the British.
With other countries they only train WVR and its always while wearing a luneburg lense to increase the raptor's RCS. tinyu rl . com/d8gzq96
This is why i said the F22 and F35 are a waste of money. Because is high cost stealth was developped in the eighties and can't be upgraded. And they don't have electronic defense systems in datalink like spectra. Propaganda videos about f35 are big fakes. It has a poor payload, poor manoeuvrability, and is not a real multirolme fighter. Rafale can carry different type of weapons in hard points. It can be a air défense and stricker in the same flight. This is a real force multiplier.
You do realise that spectra is merely designed to defeat 40 year old Russian missile systems, right? Because it is an emmitting system, against any HOJ based missile built in the last 10 years, it turns the Rafale into a big "shoot me" target.
Rafale against anything but Sa-2's and 3's is as good as dead .... it doesn't have the OPTION of being stealthy like the F-35.
In fact, spectra works like submarines data banks, it upgrades with experience. Us air force never activated aesa f22 radars when rafale was in exercices, because spectra system can record the signal and jam it. So if only one time a F22 or F35 try to connect radar to detect rafale, all the rafales fleet in france will detect f22 aesa radar easily next times. New radar signals are immediatly recorded and transfered by datalink or backup in the base to entire fleet of rafales.
@santanderino91 "In fact, spectra works like submarines data banks, it upgrades with experience"
and this is something unique? All RWR and EW receivers do the same thing and sending the information to allied aircraft in the theatre is done through basic networking. The Rafale only has a few receivers onboard though ... it just a toy compared to the ALR-94 on the raptor with its array of 30 receivers.
What the Rafale doesn't have is a 0 probability of intercept datalink like the F series
but most important is the spectra electronic warfare system. It can detect and jam ennemy radars. Repdroducing original signal of ennemy radar, it gives to ennemy jet a no target eccho in his radar. It can also give way points to be more stealth and do analysis on air battle. Giving better solutions to the pilot. Can also choose the better way to counter ennemy attacks and transmit informations to the rest of the fleet. The f35 and F22 don't have this kind of technology.
@santanderino91 "The f35 and F22 don't have this kind of technology"
this is basic jamming, and the F-35 has the best ECM jamming capabilities ever built into a fighter radar. The F-22 also has high power + smart jamming modes such as suter which allow it control enemy radar networks to literally "turn away" from the aircraft.
The high agility inherant in AESA radars makes them MUCH more effective than the simple single channel systems built into the rafale. Hundreds of times better.
@FXWorldBeater False, rafale is equiped with aesa radar .spectra is basically upgraded everytime. Usa failed to install electronic stealth signal in B2 bomber, at the same time rafale prototype succeded to do . What usa have is basic jamming on board of his jets. Everybody knows USA uses jets dedicated to jamming. When france Never used this type of planes and has always integretaded a less powerfull ECM in all jets. Spectra make disapper rafale in ennemy radar, not giving 2000targets.
@santanderino91 "Everybody knows USA uses jets dedicated to jamming"
We use those as well. Our fighter mount AESA's (now up to our 4th or 5th generation) and no other operational fighter IN THE WORLD is using AESA radars, including the Rafale (which will not be fitted with AESA until 2012, but even then, it will be a 1st generation set).
You need to get it out of your head that spectra is something special, its not. The initial SEAD operation in Libya was lead by USA for a reason.
@FXWorldBeater . Aesa radar is nothing new man. It is a technology onboard of navy vessels for years, it is just reduced size for jet fighters. You autoproclam best radar in the world excatly like the plane. I hope it was a joke ?Because last time usa pretended to have a fantastique BVr radar and missile capability was F14/phoenix. Ah total failure unable to shoot down anything at long range and retired of the arsenal sooner as possible. Sead missions for usa because UE has no longer antiradars.
@santanderino91 Simple fact ... spectra is an emitting system. Emissions = death which is why the F-22 and the F-35 are designed around 0 probability of intercept datalink emissions (rafale does not have), combined with emissionless stealth and passive sensors.
The rafale may do ok vs a single 40yo SAM or aircraft with a low agility radar, but in a dense EW environment with modern Home on Jam weapons (they home into jamming signals), the rafale would last 2 seconds.
@FXWorldBeater False, how can you say the best ECM ? USA is specialised in dedicated jamming jets not in individual jamming. The F35 is still a project but you know that he is better than anything ? ridiculous...
The rafalme over lybia has demonstrated that he is invisible to ennemy radars and has never been in a SAM target designation system. When a F15 eagle as been shoot down. Please go back to earth,F117 was "invisible" and has been detected by french radars in gulf war. Shoot downed by serb
@santanderino91 "The rafalme over lybia has demonstrated that he is invisible to ennemy radars"
What a joke, the rafale was only able to enter libya with the help from our growlers. After all of the air defences were destroyed (mainly due to US elint in the first few days), it was able to do what it wanted unmolested.
@FXWorldBeater False, first strikes and air patrols were made by rafales, tomahawks were fired few hours later.
Rafales just saved benghazi of total collapse. What growlers are you speaking about ? The rafales in the first days of no flying zone were totaly alone and taking off from france after refueling with tankers.
For a hunting pack of 3 F-22's to find and shoot a similar group of rafales, the pack would fly with one F-22 using its radar from long range. The 2 up front would fly passively, wait for the rafales to start emitting their jamming signal then fire missiles at the signal. They would feed their midcourse guidance data to the emitting F-22 at the back (a transmission that cannot be intercepted), then the rear F-22 would broadcast mid-course updates to all missiles over link-16. 3 Dead Rafales.
@FXWorldBeater Rafales are all in passive mode, spectra say to the pilots they are being designated by a f22 radar from long range. SPectra jams the f22 radar that now don't see anything. Then rafale group launch 2 missiles meteor and shoot down easyly the long range F22. After this The rafales are still in passive mode and tracking the two other F22. They detect the 2 F22 with long range passive cam and infrared sensor, fire 4 mica missiles and go back home without any losses.
@santanderino91 "SPectra jams the f22 radar that now don't see anything"
You obviously dont understand the subject do you. Jamming = emitting = RWR's can see you. The F-22 has world's most advanced fighter RWR in the ALR-94. It can scan and match more frequencies per second than any other fighter.
Gonna shoot down an F-22 from 250miles ... that I would like to see. Give it up, you're just a little fanboy kid. You know nothing about the subject matter.
@FXWorldBeater You don't understand that the source ( f22 radar) is emiting, so rafale spectra system sent back to this source the same signal with a faster time than normal reflection. So in F22 radar, nothing appears. But at The same time, raptor is saying to everyboyd "hello guys i'am here". Rafale just need to launch a meteor missile that has 3times the range of your amraam, without activating anything. In my opinion you are a clown.
F-22's APG-77 can operate 1500 separate frequencies at a time and performs frequency hops thousands of times per second on each of the 1500 channels. Spectra has less than 10 receivers only able to match 1 frequency at a time each. Basically spectra will only prevent 1/150th of the signal getting back to an F-22.
@FXWorldBeater The spectra is being upgraded for aesa threats. IT is not a definitive system. Even if The F22 aesa radar can't be jammed by spectra. IT gives immediatly his position. So With OSF cam and ir tracking, it can follow the F22 And shoot a meteor at more than 100Kilometers. Emmiting 0 radiations.
@santanderino91 the concept of using emissions from your aircraft if it is not stealth is a thing of the past. This is why our superhornets (again a FAR better aircraft than the rafale) carry a towed decoy which performs all jamming for the aircraft. The decoys are fed information from the superhornet's EW systems (which again are better than spectra) We do this because we know that emissions (even jamming emissions) = death.
@FXWorldBeater Sorry you are wrong, rafale can jam ennemy radar with one degree of précision, so it don't spray everywere indicating his position like you say. And They plan to install a jamming pod just like F18 growler for intensive jamming , intelligence etc...
The spectra is the best autoprotective system in the world. F18 better plane ? Rafale can do all kind of missions in the same flight with different weapons, has spectra to protect, is networked, stealthy and have long range ir and cam
@dilligafone Vtol is useless and abandoned for f35 program, we have this technology since the sixties with mirage balzac and we gived to Uk. It is a fashion of the sixties abandonned because poor fuel and payload for vtol. This is why USN and french navy uses catapults. (usn dont want f35 because of this). And yes the rafal is stealthy like f35. uses composite materials 70% to avoid radar reflection and has absorbing paints and low frontal rcs just like f35.
I have never said USA was a POS. US military has by far the beter logistics in the world. And you are right, the campaign in libye has been successful with the help of us tankers and drones. But what i say, is that the F35 and F22 are the biggest fails in USA history. Here we are laughing of propaganda videos of F35. PRetending to be the only multirole fighter ever. When rafale is doing this like 5years ago. Superhornet your only real good jet, but not the best in his category.
@santanderino91, Think about it. Your complaining about us even though you have a wimpy, pathetic air force. America dominates the aviation industry, no doubt about it.
Actually the pathetic french jet industry has kicked out all american jets of the biggest market of the last 4decades : india 160jets. Pathetic ? i'am sorry but french air force is not a joke. The mirage2000 Has been the best jet in the air, with F15 eagle and F16. Mica missiles are better than your amraam, and meteor missile is developped from this last one. If it is a joke, why the USa want to buy the meteor ? You are confused, france is master in missiles and jets.
And france has made the best jetliner in history : Supersonic concorde. Airbus is the leader in jetliners, boeing has been placed in 2nd position by this pathetic french company. France still have a satellite launcher, ARIane5, 1st place in satellites launching. So this is not bad for a pathetic industry.
By the way, USA superior industry still have space shuttles ? ( this things that explodes everytimes).
Seen some Books By William Nickels on Finance, but no Thomas Jefferson $2 with No Double Jeopardy Charges! Dropped the cost efficiency of The aging F-22 Raptor with Radar Absorbing Coating than Armor;) But can it depreciate the cost efficientcy of The Euro Typhoon Value by the nickel to avoid Daily Double Charges! Get those Miserchordia Veins Popping out tell the Martins, they seem to have the Monroe twins Matrox Ghosting Mode with the F-22/F-35, One is real to radar the other is a Mir Side FX
Seen some Books By William Nickels on Finance, but no Thomas Jefferson $2 with No Double Jeopardy Charges! @luckyday333 Such is better if madewith their own gdgd referred to the United States. It is buying a product from the seller in bulk anyway. W I go by the board the names of the major economic power, to make it like a stealth fighter country's economic revival followed the ship for a month
JSF costs $388Billion USD. Flying gas stations from boeing cost $350Billion. That's 1.2 Trillion for the total package. Your personal cost for this is $3000. When can we expect your check? If everybody in the country coughs up $3000, then you can afford it. And you were wondering where all that government DEBT was coming from?
We can't afford healthcare for our citizens, though. That would be too expensive and bankrupt the country. LOL!!
@jib48 That's why it does everything from air supremacy operations to strategic bombing to close air suport anything you wont a military air craft to do
OK, put 6 AAMs on an F-16 (to match 4 & 5 block F-35s) and enough external fuel tanks to match F-35's fuel. F-35 now turns, climbs and is substantially faster than F-16 with no compromise of stealth. Now try Su-30. With 6 AAMs and enough fuel, F-35 becomes faster (but still prob can't beat TV nozzles) and no compromise stealth. See my point?
I honestly dont believe that the F35 Radar cross section is less then the F22, but the F35 utilizes a bit more advanced technology. Another thing is that there are 3-5 versions of the F35, only one of them (the F35B) can vertically take off and land, the other varieties take off like any other airplane and the F35C has the ability to takeoff/land from carriers, much like the F/A18, which is one of the planes it will be replacing.
@edwardwilliams91 "I honestly dont believe that the F35 Radar cross section is less then the F22"
Correct, same RAM, radar type and comms technology, but the F-22 is a lot more optimised for all aspect stealth. Flatter surfaces and larger surface angles relative to enemy radars.
The F-35's new DSI intakes are more stealthy though, no corner reflectors.
Trouble with the F-35 is the original concept was a low cost mass producible fighter that overcomes its shortcomings with greater numbers, now that its almost as expensive as the F-22 and won't enter service until 2015+ at the earliest all you are left with is an expensive fighter that can't do very much.
@dagnemrth "now that its almost as expensive as the F-22" not even the LRIP test aircraft which are double the price of a FRP aircraft are anywhere near the price of the F-22.
F-22 URF cost $140m, F-35 2010 purchase for LRIP 4, $120m URF. Once production ramps up, its expected to be as low as $70m URF, half the price of the F-22.
Also IOC for the F-35B is 2014, and given how well flight tests have been going this year (ready for shipboard testing 2 months early), I'd say its in the bag
@FXWorldBeater you are wrong. the F-22 costs around 100m whereas the F-35 is pushing 150m. the F-35 is a F-22 that can hover and is even less visible on radar. get your facts strain before you talk.
@cmon424 "the F-35 is a F-22 that can hover and is even less visible on radar"
LOL, go away little kiddie, you have no idea what you're talking about. Considering you dont know the differences between the F-22 and the F-35, you are not worthy.
@TheSwekebab f-22 is 300 million when all said and done not production cost. but f-35 is expensive and more than 100 million dollars and in reality this plane is not worth it (waste of money) in a collapsing economy
@IDCbitchass f-22 is the worlds most expensive combat plane, f-35 is built to be cheep. I allso think that its a waste of money. F-35 will have a top speed of mach 1,6 and a really bad thrust to weight.
@FXWorldBeater Dude wtf are you talking abaut? EF 125million dollars f-22 361million dollars... the 2nd most expensive plane is Dassault Rafele. And no f-16 can reach above mack 2 with weapons and f-18 can reach mack 1,8...
@TheSwekebab "Dude wtf are you talking abaut? EF 125million dollars f-22 361million dollars"
tinyu r l. com/EFcostsmore
Typhoon is an utter failure. what's more, it has been chewing up so many spare parts (due to unreliability) in libya, that UK is now stripping down working typhoons to get spares.
F-22 are not better which is why the plane was canceld only 70% of F- 22 can fly at anyon time due to its high maintence and the canopies of all of them already need replacing. They also need atmosphere controled hangers so they can only operate from the USA. They now cost over 240 millon to make theirs so few of them that they would run out of AA missiles before they could take down an attack from a super power.
@NielsShoe "so they can only operate from the USA"
Hmm, might wanna tell that to the F-22 squadron based at Kadena AFB in Japan.
"They now cost over 240 millon"
140 according to the most recent GAO reports. F-22's wouldn't fight by themselves, they have a combined 4000 fighter force of F-18, F-15, and F-16's backing them up.
this plane has cost sooo many budget problems it should be cancelled. screw all the NATO countries, let them build their own 5th gen fighters and we should take that money and just build a ton of f-22's which are a hell of a lot better
@konischev The F-22 is an air-superiority fighter. The F-35 is multirole - big difference! Those NATO countries, including Australia, Israel and Singapore invested in the F-35 project. It would serve as the backbone of the USAF and a handful of Western countries and probably Singapore at some point in the future. But that'll take some time. Its a great machine though ;)
@Zartan1357 its a waste of money and an experiment gone wrong hence why the production launch dates keeps getting pushed back, nothing happens on time and costs keep going up
@legocitygold "What is the second flap opening at the top behind the lift fan??"
That's just the dual lift fan doors of the old X-35 (prototype). Its been replaced by a much larger single door in the new F-35's. The rear opening door helps with airflow to the fan.
Like it or not, F-35 is becoming a failure, it flys slower than the F-22, has worse maneuverability than the F-22, carry less weapons than the F-22, but more expensive and won't be in full production until 2018. At the same time all its adversaries have developed fighters to specifically kill the F-22 and will field them sooner. When going against them the F-35 might as well be a flying coffin. And to make things worse, its the option for almost every western country for the next 30 years.
@dagnemrth "it flys slower than the F-22, has worse maneuverability than the F-22, carry less weapons than the F-22, but more expensive and won't be in full production until 2018"
Firstly, its a multirole fighter and not an air superiority fighter like the f-22, so was never meant to be as fast or as maneuverable.
Second, the f-22 can't fire on targets behind it in a dogfight like the f-35 can ... so the maneuverability advantage is smaller.
1. Multi-role fighters in air-to-air scenario relies on numbers, and the cost overruns have already made that very difficult to achieve
2. Air performance is more than lining up missile sights, faster planes flying away from you after unloading their missiles can outrun your missiles at long ranges, for example, and F-35 can't fire on its targets from behind either, there's more to this than having a camera on your back.
1. the usaf already enjoys a massive numbers advantage for fighter aircraft over all other countries. Also the price of the F-35 once in FRP will be the same as existing 4th gen aircraft.
2. if an enemy is within visual range, then an AIM-120 fired in loal mode will have no problem at all catching ANY target.
3. depends on who you believe, 3rd party auditors using the F-16 cost structure as a template, or the manufacturer.
AMERICA'S REPUTATION IS IN JEOPARDY, Canada’s Office of the Parliamentary Budget Officer estimates that total program costs for the country’s 65 aircraft will be U.S. $29 billion which means a total program (through-life) unit price tag of about $450 million per aircraft in Fiscal 2009 dollars. Lockheed-Martin’s YOU MUST FIND AWAY TO MAKE THIS WORK EVEN IF AT A NEG PROFIT, NOT ONLY YOUR OWN REPS ARE ON THE LINE, BUT THE WHOLE COUNTRIES

F-22 Raptor = 5th generation stealth AIR SUPERIORITY fighter
F-35 Lightning II = 5th generation stealth MULTIROLE fighter.
They fit different roles, and will fight along side together as a duo, replacing the F-16 and F-15 in airforce and F-35 will replace the F/A-18 in navy.

I think the Canadian order should be canceled and we should go with Rafale F3 and/or F-15SE. For the money we are spend we could go with F-15SE for arctic intercepts and have Rafale or F/A-18E/F for multirole like use in Libya etc. We'd save a good 20% and end up with two BETTER and CHEAPER aircraft.
@hyhamahyha YAK-141 was just a dream that never came true. Never entered service, never destroyed an actual military target. This will shatter anything the YAK-141 did. A copy of something is an exact duplicate. This aircraft is far superior to anything the YAK ever did or will do.
That's a good lookin piece of machinery right there.

Was better to build 3 upgraded 4.5 jets for price of 1 of this.
santanderino91 1 month ago
@santanderino91 The USAF may as well just equip themselves with Super Hornets and compliment the squadrons with additional EA-18 Growlers for stealth. Australia and the US will be the only ones to use these.

F-35 real good fighter, but obsolete
F-35 is very similar to the Yak-141 design It also used the combined power plant, cut off from the lift fan is also available in the cockpit and up-and-nozzle propulsion engine also covered by the tail boom, while their length is less. As it happens, because in the mid-1990s, developer of the F-35, Lockheed Martin, briefly worked with the Yakovlev Design Bureau. in 1995, the Russian government sold the Americans all the documentation on the Yak-38 & Yak-141
max444yellow 1 month ago
@max444yellow You can say that about any military technology to date. Most of the technology used during the design process is out of date by the time the end product hits IOC (initial operation capability). But the thing that sets us apart is the fact that the Chinese and Russians are only just now putting out their first stealth fighters using our old technology. So presently we still have the upper hand... now if only congress doesn't dick it up....

Tthis suppository looking is not a match.
santanderino91 2 months ago
I just say F22 and F35 are total craps. The F35 is trying to do exactly what the rafale has : advanced autoprotection system and battle manager. But you spended to much in passive stealth that can be quickly outdated and gives the plane poor aerodynamics capabilities for dog fight and manoeuvers. You don't have long range ir and cam to shoot without radar emissions. The planes are too much expensive and will be more. Rafale invested in low RCS with outstanding active stealth.

To finish this sterile discussion, in my opinion f22 is a failed concept. Planes in price range under 100m dollars can do the same or better. Even the cheap gripen equiped with meteor can shoot f22 with netwoerked infos at more than 100 kilometers...
santanderino91 2 months ago
@santanderino91 sorry, you can plug your little 4th generation pretender aircraft all you want. The proof of how good it is lies in how many foreign sales it has made ....... 0 ..... out of at least 10 bids where it had to compete with other fighters.
Nobody buys it, even though you say it's soooo cheap. The reason they don't bother is because it's nothing special. Any 4th generation aircraft flying today can defeat it.
There is nothing special about the rafale .... at all.
FXWorldBeater 2 months ago
And pierre sprey is right, f22 need to activate his radar to identify a target. You cant shoot anything flying there is rules. Activatibg radar can make thef22 detected, it lack of passive long range cam to identify ennemy targets with 0 radiation. The same for f35.
santanderino91 2 months ago
@santanderino91 you talk a lot about visual detection using cameras .... you do realise that IRST's can only spot an aircraft from a maximum of 40km if the fighter is coming head-on right? The F-22's superior supercruise speed and altitude allows it to engage headon targets from 130km+.
Trust me when I say that visual/IR detaction is not an issue for the F-22.
Are you giving up ... oh wait, you're french .... you guys are the kings of surrender, right?
FXWorldBeater 2 months ago
@FXWorldBeater False, first generation OSF was given to 100kilometers +. And they are being replaced this year by an upgraded model. Again you are a liar. IR and Cam detection not a problem ? Rafale THermal signature is proven to be much better than F22.You can check it on some rafale videos, landing on the carrier deck and filmed by thermal cam. The Thermal signature of the F22 has not been treated correctly, it is like firework for rafale sensors. Shooted 80km with mica & 120/130km with meteor
santanderino91 2 months ago
@santanderino91 "False, first generation OSF was given to 100kilometers"
Learn the subject matter dummy .... this is vs an afterburning aircraft flying away from the sensor.
"The Thermal signature of the F22 has not been treated correctly"
Ahahaha the F-22 can supercruise at m1.8. To even do mach 1 with a weapons load, the rafale needs to use afterburner. The heat signature of an afterburning aircraft is 50 times more than an aicraft on mil thrust.
You are really bad at this.
FXWorldBeater 2 months ago
@FXWorldBeater The rafale as super cruise too, with standard motors it just need some seconds to brake the sound barrier and then can stop after burners. And with the new snecma motor developed for emirates it can do it without any afterburner. The supercruise is also useless. This is only usefull for a country like yours, russia or china. Because they are vast. The time when you needed super high speed to stop soviet bombers is finished in the 70's...
santanderino91 2 months ago
@santanderino91 "e rafale as super cruise too"
nope, no its not.
FXWorldBeater 2 months ago
@FXWorldBeater So you are saying to me that the rafale 10 000kilos 140KN trust with new motors is slower than 15000kilos JSF with 150Kn ? Damn what a pathetic liar you are....
Please, just stimulate your intellect and try to compare the Trust/weight ratio....
santanderino91 2 months ago
@santanderino91 "Please, just stimulate your intellect and try to compare the Trust/weight ratio"
Thrust to weight has nothing to do with it. Parasitic drag has everything to do with it. Looking the superhornet flight manual, for every 2 external missiles attached to the aircraft, top speed is reduced by m0.2. So a rafale with external tanks (required to equal the F-35's range) + 2 bombs + 2 missiles would barely be able to fly supersonic AT ALL. A loaded F-35 flies at M1.6
FXWorldBeater 2 months ago
LOL watching you fumble around aircraft specs and getting them completely wrong is like watching a baby with hand gun. Stay away from talking aircraft .... you have no idea what you're talking about junior.
FXWorldBeater 2 months ago
No, the most important thing for air to air fighter is to have the best missile range, and this is the case of the meteor that you dream to copy or buy. And in this case that the combat becomes a dogfight, to have the more manoeuvrable plane and pilot skills. The rafale is more agile and manoeuvrable than both F22 and F35 because theire stealth design downgrade the capabilities compared to previous gen of fighters. And the meteor has 2times the range of your amraam, being also faster with ramjet
santanderino91 2 months ago
@FXWorldBeater Yes, i'am sure all american systems are the best because boeing says. JUst like F14/phoenix quickly retired and space shuttle, just like F117 "invisible and invincible bomber" ect...I am pretty sure you are also better than russians at ir + cam long range detection and helmet target designation. When they do this for 30years, isn't it ? FXWorldBeater 2 months ago
If this is true, why when F22 encountered rafales in exercices they refused to connect the spectra And OSF ?
santanderino91 2 months ago
@santanderino91 " they refused to connect the spectra And OSF"
Why? because its a kiddie story made just for plebs like yourself. The USAF has no problems sending aircraft to exercises with their radars on because they just put them into "training" mode. Radars in training mode send out completely different signals and signal patterns to their combat modes. Every military radar features a training mode. Anyone with basic knowledge knows that.
FXWorldBeater 2 months ago
@FXWorldBeater So if this is true, why they don't connect the radar when rafales are here ?You can't answer ?
santanderino91 2 months ago
@santanderino91 "So if this is true, why they don't connect the radar when rafales are here ?You can't answer ?"
Because what you "heard" or what you think you heard is just a little kiddie fanboy story. The real story (which you maybe did not understand) is that USAF do not engage in BVR exercises using the F-22 with anyone but the British.
With other countries they only train WVR and its always while wearing a luneburg lense to increase the raptor's RCS. tinyu rl . com/d8gzq96
FXWorldBeater 2 months ago
And this is just impossible to detect a rafale at long range, because RCS of the rafale is too small to be detected from long range.
santanderino91 2 months ago
Just remember, whatever is publicly known about defense is always at least one step behind what really exists. That goes for any major world power.
TheSdlabs 2 months ago
This is why i said the F22 and F35 are a waste of money. Because is high cost stealth was developped in the eighties and can't be upgraded. And they don't have electronic defense systems in datalink like spectra. Propaganda videos about f35 are big fakes. It has a poor payload, poor manoeuvrability, and is not a real multirolme fighter. Rafale can carry different type of weapons in hard points. It can be a air défense and stricker in the same flight. This is a real force multiplier.
santanderino91 2 months ago
@santanderino91 "spectra"
FXWorldBeater 2 months ago
In fact, spectra works like submarines data banks, it upgrades with experience. Us air force never activated aesa f22 radars when rafale was in exercices, because spectra system can record the signal and jam it. So if only one time a F22 or F35 try to connect radar to detect rafale, all the rafales fleet in france will detect f22 aesa radar easily next times. New radar signals are immediatly recorded and transfered by datalink or backup in the base to entire fleet of rafales.
santanderino91 2 months ago
@santanderino91 "In fact, spectra works like submarines data banks, it upgrades with experience"
and this is something unique? All RWR and EW receivers do the same thing and sending the information to allied aircraft in the theatre is done through basic networking. The Rafale only has a few receivers onboard though ... it just a toy compared to the ALR-94 on the raptor with its array of 30 receivers.
What the Rafale doesn't have is a 0 probability of intercept datalink like the F series
FXWorldBeater 2 months ago
but most important is the spectra electronic warfare system. The f35 and F22 don't have this kind of technology.
santanderino91 2 months ago
@santanderino91 "The f35 and F22 don't have this kind of technology"
this is basic jamming, and the F-35 has the best ECM jamming capabilities ever built into a fighter radar. The F-22 also has high power + smart jamming modes such as suter which allow it control enemy radar networks to literally "turn away" from the aircraft.
The high agility inherant in AESA radars makes them MUCH more effective than the simple single channel systems built into the rafale. Hundreds of times better.
FXWorldBeater 2 months ago
@FXWorldBeater False, rafale is equiped with aesa radar .spectra is basically upgraded everytime. Usa failed to install electronic stealth signal in B2 bomber, at the same time rafale prototype succeded to do . What usa have is basic jamming on board of his jets. Everybody knows USA uses jets dedicated to jamming. When france Never used this type of planes and has always integretaded a less powerfull ECM in all jets. Spectra make disapper rafale in ennemy radar, not giving 2000targets.
santanderino91 2 months ago
@santanderino91 "Everybody knows USA uses jets dedicated to jamming"
We use those as well. Our fighter mount AESA's (now up to our 4th or 5th generation) and no other operational fighter IN THE WORLD is using AESA radars, including the Rafale (which will not be fitted with AESA until 2012, but even then, it will be a 1st generation set).
You need to get it out of your head that spectra is something special, its not. The initial SEAD operation in Libya was lead by USA for a reason.
FXWorldBeater 2 months ago
@FXWorldBeater . Aesa radar is nothing new man. It is a technology onboard of navy vessels for years, it is just reduced size for jet fighters. You autoproclam best radar in the world excatly like the plane. I hope it was a joke ?Because last time usa pretended to have a fantastique BVr radar and missile capability was F14/phoenix. Ah total failure unable to shoot down anything at long range and retired of the arsenal sooner as possible. Sead missions for usa because UE has no longer antiradars.
santanderino91 2 months ago
@santanderino91 Simple fact ... spectra is an emitting system. Emissions = death which is why the F-22 and the F-35 are designed around 0 probability of intercept datalink emissions (rafale does not have), combined with emissionless stealth and passive sensors.
The rafale may do ok vs a single 40yo SAM or aircraft with a low agility radar, but in a dense EW environment with modern Home on Jam weapons (they home into jamming signals), the rafale would last 2 seconds.
FXWorldBeater 2 months ago
@FXWorldBeater False, how can you say the best ECM ? USA is specialised in dedicated jamming jets not in individual jamming. The F35 is still a project but you know that he is better than anything ? ridiculous...
The rafalme over lybia has demonstrated that he is invisible to ennemy radars and has never been in a SAM target designation system. When a F15 eagle as been shoot down. Please go back to earth,F117 was "invisible" and has been detected by french radars in gulf war. Shoot downed by serb
santanderino91 2 months ago
@santanderino91 "The rafalme over lybia has demonstrated that he is invisible to ennemy radars"
What a joke, the rafale was only able to enter libya with the help from our growlers. After all of the air defences were destroyed (mainly due to US elint in the first few days), it was able to do what it wanted unmolested.
FXWorldBeater 2 months ago
@FXWorldBeater False, first strikes and air patrols were made by rafales, tomahawks were fired few hours later.
Rafales just saved benghazi of total collapse. What growlers are you speaking about ? The rafales in the first days of no flying zone were totaly alone and taking off from france after refueling with tankers.
This is very bad to lie, man.
santanderino91 2 months ago
For a hunting pack of 3 F-22's to find and shoot a similar group of rafales, the pack would fly with one F-22 using its radar from long range. The 2 up front would fly passively, wait for the rafales to start emitting their jamming signal then fire missiles at the signal. They would feed their midcourse guidance data to the emitting F-22 at the back (a transmission that cannot be intercepted), then the rear F-22 would broadcast mid-course updates to all missiles over link-16. 3 Dead Rafales.
FXWorldBeater 2 months ago
@FXWorldBeater Rafales are all in passive mode, spectra say to the pilots they are being designated by a f22 radar from long range. SPectra jams the f22 radar that now don't see anything. Then rafale group launch 2 missiles meteor and shoot down easyly the long range F22. After this The rafales are still in passive mode and tracking the two other F22. They detect the 2 F22 with long range passive cam and infrared sensor, fire 4 mica missiles and go back home without any losses.
santanderino91 2 months ago
@santanderino91 "SPectra jams the f22 radar that now don't see anything"
You obviously dont understand the subject do you. Jamming = emitting = RWR's can see you. The F-22 has world's most advanced fighter RWR in the ALR-94. It can scan and match more frequencies per second than any other fighter.
Gonna shoot down an F-22 from 250miles ... that I would like to see. Give it up, you're just a little fanboy kid. You know nothing about the subject matter.
FXWorldBeater 2 months ago
@FXWorldBeater You don't understand that the source ( f22 radar) is emiting, so rafale spectra system sent back to this source the same signal with a faster time than normal reflection. So in F22 radar, nothing appears. But at The same time, raptor is saying to everyboyd "hello guys i'am here". Rafale just need to launch a meteor missile that has 3times the range of your amraam, without activating anything. In my opinion you are a clown.
santanderino91 2 months ago
@santanderino91 "So in F22 radar, nothing appear"
F-22's APG-77 can operate 1500 separate frequencies at a time and performs frequency hops thousands of times per second on each of the 1500 channels. Spectra has less than 10 receivers only able to match 1 frequency at a time each. Basically spectra will only prevent 1/150th of the signal getting back to an F-22.
FXWorldBeater 2 months ago
@FXWorldBeater The spectra is being upgraded for aesa threats. IT is not a definitive system. Even if The F22 aesa radar can't be jammed by spectra. IT gives immediatly his position. So With OSF cam and ir tracking, it can follow the F22 And shoot a meteor at more than 100Kilometers. Emmiting 0 radiations.
santanderino91 2 months ago
@santanderino91 the concept of using emissions from your aircraft if it is not stealth is a thing of the past. This is why our superhornets (again a FAR better aircraft than the rafale) carry a towed decoy which performs all jamming for the aircraft. The decoys are fed information from the superhornet's EW systems (which again are better than spectra) We do this because we know that emissions (even jamming emissions) = death.
FXWorldBeater 2 months ago

Another thing is that there are 3-5 versions of the F35, only one of them (the F35B) can vertically take off and land, the other varieties take off like any other airplane and the F35C has the ability to takeoff/land from carriers, much like the F/A18, which is one of the planes it will be replacing.
edwardwilliams91 7 months ago
@edwardwilliams91 "I honestly dont believe that the F35 Radar cross section is less then the F22"
Correct, same RAM, radar type and comms technology, but the F-22 is a lot more optimised for all aspect stealth. Flatter surfaces and larger surface angles relative to enemy radars.
The F-35's new DSI intakes are more stealthy though, no corner reflectors.
FXWorldBeater 7 months ago
Trouble with the F-35 is the original concept was a low cost mass producible fighter that overcomes its shortcomings with greater numbers, now that its almost as expensive as the F-22 and won't enter service until 2015+ at the earliest all you are left with is an expensive fighter that can't do very much.
dagnemrth 7 months ago
@dagnemrth "now that its almost as expensive as the F-22" not even the LRIP test aircraft which are double the price of a FRP aircraft are anywhere near the price of the F-22.
F-22 URF cost $140m, F-35 2010 purchase for LRIP 4, $120m URF. Once production ramps up, its expected to be as low as $70m URF, half the price of the F-22.
Also IOC for the F-35B is 2014, and given how well flight tests have been going this year (ready for shipboard testing 2 months early), I'd say its in the bag
FXWorldBeater 7 months ago
@FXWorldBeater you are wrong. the F-22 costs around 100m whereas the F-35 is pushing 150m. the F-35 is a F-22 that can hover and is even less visible on radar. get your facts strain before you talk.

@konischev The F-22 is an air-superiority fighter. The F-35 is multirole - big difference! Those NATO countries, including Australia, Israel and Singapore invested in the F-35 project. And to make things worse, its the option for almost every western country for the next 30 years.
dagnemrth 8 months ago
@dagnemrth "it flys slower than the F-22, has worse maneuverability than the F-22, carry less weapons than the F-22, but more expensive and won't be in full production until 2018"
Firstly, its a multirole fighter and not an air superiority fighter like the f-22, so was never meant to be as fast or as maneuverable.
Second, the f-22 can't fire on targets behind it in a dogfight like the f-35 can ... so the maneuverability advantage is smaller.
3rd, its nowhere near as expensive.
FXWorldBeater 8 months ago
@FXWorldBeater "won't be in full production until 2018"
Production aircraft are already coming off the line ... maybe you mean it won't be in "initial operational capability" which is 2014 for the F-35b.
FXWorldBeater 8 months ago
@FXWorldBeater
3. Its very expensive
dagnemrth 7 months ago
@dagnemrth
1. the usaf already enjoys a massive numbers advantage for fighter aircraft over all other countries.
