I would have enforced it a long time ago. For murders, rapist, child molesters, drug dealers/ lords and for treason. Public hangings would be suitable, so that the rest wont step out of line .The death penalty for kidnappers seems to harsh(unless they murdered or raped their victims), but a long sentencing would be fair. Plus, tougher sentencing for anyone who is involved in the drug trade.

@twiligth003 .. caballero; te hice un par de preguntas: si ves el diagnóstico penitenciario, hay más de 200,000 reos... si analizas la estadística, la inmensa mayoría son jóvenes, que están ahi por robos por sumas ridículas (debido a que se trata de delitos calificados)... son delitos directamente relacionados con la pobreza y la marginación... la cárcel, no readapta a nadie, pero si fabrica resentimiento y criminales... pero es más, los grandes criminales, pagan para no pisar la cárcel...

Think realistically, you have to know that sometimes talking will not get through to many if not all criminals. Fear sometimes is the only deterrent. Sadly, even in that case most criminals don't fear death. Although turning the other cheek is not always the wisest idea.

I think lengthy incarceration would be as good if not better as a deterrent, which would not resort the good of society to killing. I respect your argument, but there has never been conclusive evidence to show that the death penalty is effective as a deterrent. So, why chance executing innocents to protect other innocents. Which means that we have the possibility of innocent people rotting in jail and/or the criminals getting bailed out or bribed out.
