  • whats the NZ link here ? Hopefully none !

  • im only 18 but dad always fed chisel into me sense i was born and we went to see them on friday and it was the best concert ive every been to

  • does anyone know where I can find this original trac, not live?

  • It does have a little combination sound of ACDC and Jimmy Barnes. Sounds GOOD!!!

  • So glad these live concerts are preserved for us all to share. Can't wait to see them in October on their tour!

  • Nobody knows the way I feel. Is there a more poignant lyric in rock music? Love chisel, hate barnsey unfornunately.

  • I was a U.S. expat living in Australia from 1979-1982 and fell in love with Chisel. Unfortunately very few Americans have ever heard of Cold Chisel, which is a damn shame because I think these guys are a rockin band that deserve classic rock status. In the 80s when shitty disco has made it's way onto the music scene in the US, the Aussies were rockin'. Cold Chisel was an honest, straight-forward band with no hype or pretense. I still rock out to Chisel when I have friends over. Fantastic band!

  • @demonman444 so true...

  • COLD CHISEL HAS REUNITED....... 21 July 2011

  • As usual Jimmy forgot/changed the lyrics in the early part of the song, he did this frequently in the late 70s... effing classic guitar song

  • Cold Chisel will rock on forever. Great Aussie band.

  • great song from Cold Chisel

  • What a band! "They have that ACDC sound" you say? Huh??

  • @MrJMontrose Yeah, they are obviously listening to something different to us lol

  • shippin steel oh yeah im a 40 odd year old trucker and this is the best truckin song !!

  • this is the only chisel song I like when I was a kid..

now as an adult I see they reflected Australia well in the 70's

...Flame trees, forever now, breakfast at sweethearts...Don Walker was a good songwriter...as was the late Paul Hewson of Dragon also a keyboard player

  • Wish the studio tracks were like this.

  • Cold chisel wrote the social commentry of OZ, bloody legends........ they took thier rock to evry little nook and cranny of Oz, the peoples music, the working folks heros of the day. keeping it real. ......... If that gave em the passport to sex, drugs & rock n roll, well it goes with the territory back then,..... well so be it. lucky bastards!!

  • im quittin my job & becoming a truckie and jacking the volume on this song way up

  • Have just uploaded a classic AUSTRALIA TRIBUTE involving Michael Jackson.....Cheers AUSSIE fellas and sheilas

  • Better to be shippin' steel, than shittin' steel, I say.

  • bon scott grew up in perth

  • bon scott grew up ion perth

  • rip steve ipswich one of Australias best drummers if you haven,t heard the news he passed away the other day

  • Mossy looks stoned when he is playing the solo

  • @CarbonSXMonkey I found Jimmy Barnes to be graceful, when I briefly met him in person... his brother John Swan is even more friendly... full of hugs and face-touching, I thought he was coming on to me...

Yeah, its all caught up with him now... oh well...

  • @nzoz1979 the old saying... with age comes wisdom. I have nothing against him personally, but he sure caused a lot of misery. When a person uses a woman as one does a piece of toilet paper, don't expect respect from the silent majority.

  • @nzoz1979 Soooooo True I met "Swanee" he's awesome ..very nice guy....

  • @nzoz1979 Jimmy donated money to support Autism in Australia after I met him once. He has a very big heart for the people of this country

  • @shadowzone69 I'm sure he does... seems to care about people and what they think of him... no arrogance there!

  • @CarbonSXMonkey Sounds like someone who has been rejected to me..... get your facts right before you sling mud, he was a young guy, with probably a lot of women throwing themselves at him - emphasis on "probably". If in fact your exaggerated claims were true, the other parties have responsibilities as well.... don't put it all on the bloke. From what I know of the guy, seducing women was not a priority.... costing the taxpayer money? What a joke, the guy has paid more tax than you - doubtless

  • @CarbonSXMonkey shut up wanker, if you don't like it don't watch

  • @CarbonSXMonkey .. When did Shannon Noll prove he could sing? He distroyed "What About Me" .

  • @CarbonSXMonkey LMAO.I'm laughin' at you!!

  • @CarbonSXMonkey LMAO.I'm laughin' at you!!Stop bein' such a friggin 'CARE BEAR'.

  • @CarbonSXMonkey you goose

  • @CarbonSXMonkey the girls could have said... no.....?

  • @CarbonSXMonkey who the fuck are you moralizing, and besides that not any git can sing

  • @CarbonSXMonkey

    Are you Tony Abbott?

Conservative morons should stay the fuck away from rock'n'roll.

Barnsey is a dead set legend.

  • @CarbonSXMonkey foad

  • @CarbonSXMonkey shannol noll is a fogot who is a shit singer

  • @CarbonSXMonkey You dont have a fucking clue about Jimmy or his love life. How dare you say that? He was no more irresponsible than any other young man back then. Mind your fucking business and go preach to the converted. And not loved??? Are you fucking kidding me????? He is adored!!!!

  • @CarbonSXMonkey

I can't agree more!! What an animal! Having a whole 3 kids! Bloody animal. No one in Australia deserves to have 3 kids! Useless waste of an Australian right there, turning his life from drug and alcohol abuse into something a little better. Bloody "ape".

  • @CarbonSXMonkey Seemed there were no shortage of willing, slack, groupies to choose from either. A lady just doesn't behave that way. it's alright to pin it all on Jim, but they should take at least half the blame. In fact, if your gunna sleep around like a whore, you probable should take your own precautions.

  • while i dont think they sound anything like ACDC

they are both bands a product of the same time and exact same environment.

They were playing the same gigs in the same town at the same time.

I think Chisel are far more melodic and well, musical, than ACDC. And lets face it, their lyrics are on another plane of existence.

  • shittin steel

  • rage....

  • they have that "ACDC" sound.

  • @cj382 Try, if you have the time, to listen to some of their other tracks ('Choir Girl', 'Cheap Wine'). They were more a songwriting based band than AC/DC. Given that singer Jimmy Barnes, like Bon Scott, is Scottish-born, and like Bon, grew up in Adelaide, I am quick to say that they weren't attempting to bring on the AC/DC sound. In fact, the AC/DC sound is a product of the Australian pub-rock sound, which pre-dates AC/DC. AC/DC did have a sound of their own, but like Chisel, its pub roots

  • @nzoz1979 your right, I'm only judging from this one song, but they do sound awesome. Thanks, I will check out the others as well.

  • @nzoz1979 Bon grew up in Melbourne and Perth not Adelaide.

  • The beat, the tune, the lyrics all meant so much back then. They blitz the assembly line music crap of today's music. Cold Chisel is a true legendary band.

  • They are the real deal first heard them when i was 8 year old there music is what being a aussie is all about .

  • no its a trucking song

  • Man why wasnt I alive 30 years ago when they toured the states? I woulda bought tickets to their show in a heartbeat. When it comes to good music, us americans are as blind as bats sometimes. Seeing the Cold Chisel videos on the Nzoz channels made me discover them and now I own a bunch of their cd's. I also bought some Jimmy Barnes solo stuff too. Fuckin awesome!

  • @offspringfan41588

i knew that more people would pick up on Cold Chisel if the right uploads and tagging took place. Why some other precious bands want to take my uploads down, God only knows... cheers

  • @offspringfan41588 this dude and his band would prob be like your springsteen

    or john cougar

  • Is shipping steel a gay euphemism or a term for when you're taking a crap while constipated?

  • @ZacTheImpailer please don't try to be funny... it just doesn't suit you.

  • @nzoz1979 But I think we can all agree that it's an effective way of transporting steel.

  • @nzoz1979 I'm going to start using this as a euphemism and let people make up their own meanings for it... boss tells me to do some work... "sorry boss, I'm shipping steel if you know what I mean"...

  • i found this song on jetstar classic rock lol

  • DocHoliday, I'm not one of the three, but I did discover them when I lived in NSW 2007-2009. What a great band!

I was around in the years they toured the States, just wasn't in the loop for them...my loss.

  • cold chisel forever. definitly the greatest Aussie band of all time, there will not be many bands that can be as great as them. i listen to the everytime i play my CDs this includes their Ringside DVD.

  • saw chisel at the Bondi Livesaver as an underager in the late 70's. Jimmy in a pair of overalls and a bottle of vodka which he swigged from between songs...oven hot and the sweat dripped from the ceiling...everyone there for the band, looking after each other. no aggro, no racism, no bullshit..just great, great music...Thanks nzoz, you post great memories for us old(er) ones..

  • @aussiebloke62 No worries... thanks for watching!

  • @aussiebloke62 Gee Bloke, ya really bringing back the great times there dude... Also saw them round the beginning of the 80's as an underager! Being a shire dude, we had to travel to see em :( but east sydney and just out of the city rocked, every week!

You are totally right mate, everyone went out then for the music, the fun and as you put it - NO BULLSHIT!

    good work.

NZOZ, thanks for another classic. good work.

  • @truespyfan Thanks truespyfan! Probably rubbed shoulders with you at the Sylvania Hotel or maybe at The Civic? Saw tons of bands during those days, and now feel pretty priviliged when I look at the fairly dire state of the music scene now...No wonder the kids are bored!!! Lived in Canberra as a young bloke, but had relos in Cronulla, so whatever we missed at the Uni Bar we would try and catch in Sydney.

  • @aussiebloke62 you are on the money champ

  • why argue, this is all about peace!

everyone get along and just be happy! no matter what you believe in

or any other b.s that you are all arguing about, just shut up and listen to the music man, and just be happy! 1 week ago

  • No one puts their heart in it like Jimmy. He still does. He's a LEDGEND.

  • chisel at their peak - used to see them regularly around this time, they were just breaking through, There is a live recording from 3xy Live floating around, would love to know if this concert is on dvd. They changed after 79, even though East broke them, I still prefer the earlier stuff.

  • Great stuff, Chisel rock! Got One Long Day?

  • I love how he claps his hands in the beginning of the song haha.

  • work at a trucking yard - sing this song to myself whenever I'm moving steel

  • chisel rock truckies carry the country what more is there to be said

  • acdc rocked harder when they were only known localy they were raw now its more comercial. chisel started of raw and finished raw so its probably best that they didnt go international for the fans anyway. better to die young then fade away. they just rocked and every time i put their stuff on i sit and listen to them for hours great aussi band

  • It's possible that Chisel may have headed to where Jimmy Barnes went if they gotten international... I'm glad they stuck to their guns and didn't let time intimidate them...

  • hence the song "you got nothing i want"

  • Baaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrnnnnnnnnnnseeeeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!

  • Is that a joke c921234. Hahaha. Who cares bout the lyrics sung on those boozy nights. Barnsy and Moss always forgot lines.

  • fuck off u vial cunt

  • Small mistake 1.26: should be *"gods salvation guaranteed", thats the only thing i need, .. im shipping steele...ect.

i think he said somethin like "we'll the friend the truck they play" ........wtf, scratch head.

i love that part of his performances although rare considering the amounts of vodka consumed :)

    he's a great aussie!

  • This may not have been a mistake though... see it just as an... alternative version?

  • Jimmy Barnes has the most amazing voice...naturally brilliant! such a gift~

  • Half that voice is Ian Moss even on this live performance.

  • this clip and song is always amazing, and how different it is to the pub agro now, the punters were fighting for the pub not each other or some random victim, what can you say...random victims fillup intensive care units now for no good reason except they got in the wrong place at the wrong time, (need icu etc)

  • They sholuld have been much bigger,I caught them in Iowa of all places at a Ted Nugent concert, they wailed right with Unkie Ted!!!

  • I think I've only come across three Americans on YT who saw Cold Chisel when they toured the US... we all wished they did better than Men At Work and INXS.

  • I left the concert impressed, why some bands hit it big and some do not I don't know.

    They were damn good.

  • great song

  • I Love this song..the lyrics..the beat..is rocky..

  • How tight were this band?

  • This is a bloody superb outfit in action here. Great work by Mossy on the axe.

  • Legends of rock

  • This song is from a live ABC broadcast done in Sydney about 1978 or 79, I have seen a copy . the whole concert is fantastic. Barnsey is so powerful throughout and Mossy is on fire with his guitar playing for the whole concert - its arguably the best i have seen him play. His rendition of Georgia and Dresden Blues and many others are fantastic.I wish they would release the whole concert . i made enquiries of ABC and they said its not for commercial release,......maybe one day they will .

  • I'm cool with techno but i LOVE Cold Chisel!

  • Best truckie song ever. Is it bad that I'm a 13 year old girl who thinks that?

    Mossy's solo was awsum!

  • Yes it is. Only boys who are going to be truck drivers should like this song. Now go and find yourself a Kitchen song!

    Ha, ha...I'm joking.

Nothing wrong with the way you're thinking. You're on the right track in life if you like this band!

  • yes its wrong

  • lmao

  • Cool, not many people in our age group like Chisel mostly into that techno shit, but if you like that and Chisel at the same time its all good.

  • @ColdChiselRox no it isn't bad. it is great Cold chisel was also before my time to but the main difference is that i am a guy and a little bit older. so it doesn't matter if you are a guy or a girl you can listen to them as much as you want reguardless of age

  • Listen how strong Jimmys voice is!!!Fuck they are kick ass man!!!

  • I've been an aussie rock fan for 20+ years - but not a Chisel fan before I heard this - from subliminal memory - on U-tube. This song is now one of my anthems.

  • True OZ Legend. Haven't heard this song in years. Thanks for sharing.

  • Is the audience that off their face they can't cheer??

  • it sounds like a soundboard recording ot me, which explains the silent audience :P they're not actually silent. hard to imagine they would be.

  • They were all stoned...pissed

  • Well I was 14 and my Mum did not know I was there so I was keeping quiet....

  • I used to be part of that audience and yes we tripped andgot pissed and stoned and cheered great memories
