This was a year when speccy games were being converted to C64, just a year later and it was C64 games being converted to speccy. The die was cast and the C64 went onto become the biggest selling computer in the world - and still is.
I had a C64 but i was never very keen on this verson of the game.Having played a lot of the spectrum version, i came away quite disapointed with this as a lot of what was cool in that version, was not in this one - as well it felt so cold in comparison once you went into the caves
The controls aren't very precise and it's only possible to move in four directions. One easily hits the wall of the cave since many passages are so narrow. It's nearly impossible for me to analyze this objectively. This is just something that defines nostalgia for me.
The specturm version almost looked like a different game. This c64 version has a gray background and the speccy version has a black background. I wonder why the developers didn't use different shades of black for deeper waters.
I like the sound effect for the violent player death. Also perhaps the Palace Software guys have taken some influence from this game for the crab dragging the player's body out of the screen? (Soul of course can only travel vertically after physical death.)

ZX Spectrum version wins hands down, C64 has no atmosphere! Just dead compared to spectrum which was like a real adventure at the time.

Yeah nostalgia plays a very big part in why iike a lot of these and of course it's how it should be
Regarding the colour choice, yes that's certainly interesting thinking why they chose just the gray

Who knows though it might even be playable enough
