The English lyrics aren't even close to the translation of the Hebrew. But it's good in spirit. This was a medium hit for Lawrence & Gormé ... and a HUGE hit for the original by Nurit Hirsh. People just think of it as a "traditional folk song." The music was written in the 70s.

i keep coming back to Al Diner's videos. In 1971, I was in Las Vegas on New Years Eve and saw Steve and Eydie and then the midnight show of Barbra Streisand with Robert Klein as the first act. Amazingly enough, Steve and Eydie put on a better show.

It might have been one of the last concerts that Babs did for years as she had stage fright and had threats against her.
