The music of this song came from an Persian old and famous music which name is kocholo and an Iranian singer his name is Aref sang the song, You can hear this song here in this link in youtube:
Really catchy melody. And what can one say about Steve and Edie--they are incomparable intertainers. Edie, by the way, is fluent in Spanish and Turkish.
Sounds great! I haven't thought about this wonderful couple in ages! We sing this at my synagogue (I'm in the choir), but it's not as fun and bouncy as this.
@MyDragonfable - I see you live in Egypt, one of the poorest third-world countries in the world, where hatred, filth, ignorance and intolerance thrives like maggots. Your command of the King's English is pathetic. You may not know how to write in the language, but you sure know how to hate. You probably envy Israel for their ability to take sand and desert and turn it into a land of oranges, honey, and productivity. You must envy them for their education as well as their bravery. Pandejo!!
FANTABULOUS! Love your channel...ISRAEL! My heart, my love, my family, my home!...FOREVER!! Music you share is so WONDERFUL! I WISH YOU TONS OF LOVE, HUGS and A MILLION SUNSHINES...Luv, LaBelleLa

Happy and healthy new year, may peace come to all nations and to all of our earth. May my prayers for steve and Eydie bring abundant health and life. May my prayers be to all families to have strong healthy families and friends for peace in all nations of the earth. My new year's wish in 5770! Shalom!
The English lyrics aren't even close to the translation of the Hebrew. But it's good in spirit. This was a medium hit for Lawrence & Gormé ... and a HUGE hit for the original by Nurit Hirsh. People just think of it as a "traditional folk song." The music was written in the 70s.
haha! exactly what i was saying!! we have like stupid sheet music and i thought it was a boring forgien song, and it is when we sing it, but here its happy and i love it!
Well when you're in the kind of situations that Judaism has gone through you need all the hope you can get. Jewish songs split mostly between raw self-deprecation (many Yiddish ballads) and hope for the future (songs like B'shana Haba'a)
I can't believe I found this. Thank you so much. This was hands-down my favorite hebrew song as a kid. And its been about 25-30 years since I thought of hebrew music...and to find this here is really something. I can't thank you enough.
i think this song is part of my life sinc my convertion of spiritual jewish, Jesus said: Certainly i say unto you i thou believe what i said thou salt be saved and rivers of living water shall run in your being.
This is a song about hope. It expresses the belief that "You'll see how good life will be next year". A good life cannot come from harming other people, and I don't think the song has anything hateful in it. I pray that qasemful has a change of heart, as the hateful thoughts that you expressed can only destroy you. Martin Luther King said that only love can drive out hate, as only light can drive out darkness.
Love it, love it, love it!. I saw Steve & Eydie at the Valley Forge Music Fair years ago (before it became a shopping center) and it was one of the most enjoyable and memorable shows I've ever seen. Todah rabbah!
i keep coming back to Al Diner's videos. In 1971, I was in Las Vegas on New Years Eve and saw Steve and Eydie and then the midnight show of Barbra Streisand with Robert Klein as the first act. Amazingly enough, Steve and Eydie put on a better show.
It might have been one of the last concerts that Babs did for years as she had stage fright and had threats against her.
I never knew this song existed! I was able to purchase LP; wish I could download on a CD so I could put it on my IPOD! Just love this song and LOVE the pure musical joy of STEVE & EYDIE! Happiness, Health, and Peace for the New Year to ALL!
Thanks for putting this video together of Steve and Eydie through the years in picture. I've not heard this song before but it is wonderful. Thanks again, Andrea
