I just don't get why people liked the spectrum or why it was popular for so long. It looks so basic and rudimentary in every way. The C64 and Amstrad were way better and just about any post 1982 console blew it away.
WOW!! i had this back in the day on my Speccy 128K (disc drive of which i still have boxed away!) and abserloutly played the hell out if!! Brilliant game! The title music was so catchy, still find myself whistling it to myself on occasion. Having no music during the game, just sound fx made it really creepy and atmospheric. Great memories!!
Love g n g on any machine, tho these days i play it on mame, in the day i first got this on c64, then st and then amiga. I also had this on the capcom generations on the ps1. Great game.
Hah! I love ZX Spectrum. This is my favourite 8-bit machine (by me considered to be the most fun and educative). And I love this machine has similar sound chip to my beloved ST ;-)
This takes me back ! I did the loading screen you see at the start. Mike Follin coded the game at Software Creations (over the Spar Minimart opposite the BBC on Oxford Road in Manchester).
sorry but the late, too late answer but all i can say that the loading screen is one of the best i've senn on speccy and if u're still in touch with Mike Follin, tell him that he's a great spectrum programmer!!
Not spoke with Mike or Tim for years but I know he left the industry to become a priest. I remember his first nice car was an Astra GTE with a digital dashboard. He liked to drive through snow with lights on full beam. He said it was like going through hyperspace! My name is Peter Gough and I worked with Mike and others on a handful of titles. Never the dizzy heights of Mike but I did get a Crash 'Smash' for Rookie, one of two light gun games I wrote for the Magnum lightgun (remember it?)
thanks to emulation i've seen several games with gun. I think here in Spain had not much success. I remember several games Bestial Warrior(spanish). I've just download Rookie from worldospectrum, i'll take a look. The screen i've seen looks good!
I contacted Mike maybe 10 years ago I guess. In the hope to see if Tim had any c64 tunes that were never used. Mike was a very nice bloke and helpful. I miss the older times of games, you'd meet the people behind the games at shows and they would be polite and talk to you. Now it seems like a faceless industry with lots of take overs and 8479574 staff working on one game.

The speccyversion seems faster and more playable as the C64-version.

One of my favourite games on the Spectrum. Great conversion. The fire was crap. Daggers were best!
