Back in the day, Golden Axe wasn't about the beasts; it was about fighting alongside your friends and family to see who could kick the most ass and steal the most magic potions from the elves.
This game is so "improved" from the previous ones that it loses that nostalgic feeling. Why only one character to choose from instead of 3 (or more)? Why use beasts as a GIMMICK? Who's that woman supposed to be? I don't recognize her.
If they removed "Golden Axe" from the title, would it even matter?

but oh well... The whole fact of being able to help eachother (Co-op) Or actualy being able to Hit ur Co-op friend in Golden axe was cool to. Having that freedom made the Orignal Golden axe the best.. And there missing that in this : ( :(

Back in the SNES and N64 days (What I grew up with) games didn't have to have a special little something to make them AWESOME. They had ALOT of special little somethings....one of those somethings being SMART developers xP. Ugh I hope games will get better.
Yeah...but I've been thinking that maybe...just maybe we don't like these newer generation games as much because when we're young....they leave more of an impression on us, and leave more memoriies, whereas now that we're older, we realize more things (flaws, strengths etc.) to an extent that's FAR less simplistic than when we were young...what a mouthful I know lol. So basically I think that the kids of THIS generation are going to look back at these games and treasure them like we did.
You have a point. I remember a number of occasions where I revisited video games, cartoons, etc. that I liked as a kid that I no longer cared for as an adult. Even if they were still cool, a lot of the times I couldn't keep myself interested in them for hours at a time like I used to.
I look forward to hearing today's youth talk about what's out now the way I talked about the games from the 80's and 90's. They'll probably look at me the way I looked at Pong lovers. :-)

i have not played lair so i cannot say that, i would recomend this game to anyone who liked the god of war, or connan games, though i am sure g.a.: beast rider can't hold a candle to gow, but it could be a good time waster...

the game looks pretty good, screw the bad reviews also I kinda like the difficulty with combat system where you need to press the right coloured button when a enemy's weapon flashes.
I hate it when gamers bitch about games changing or becoming to hard like ninja gaiden if you hate games changing then go play your halo or W.O.W. games or get a life.
overall this game seems worth checking out minus some flaws in this video.

Just bought a 360 today with this game and fable 2 and damn I love it! There's so many hours of gameplay for this it's really surprising. So much fun with all the beasts. Absolutely love it. It's like a cross between soul reaver, prince of persia and something else....lol but tis very kool I recommend it 2 anyone who might be thinking of buying it.
The thing about this game is tht it gets quite difficult later on in the game, making it quite challenging.

You dont have to base your opinion around GAmeinformer, but some people who dont know what game to buy and which kind of games are good or not read gameinformer's magazines to get a taste of what they like or dislike. Considering now that all new games are like 60 dollars, you dont want to waste your money on a crappy game.
i know i donlt have to base my view on a game off any reveiwing site, i use videos to get a taste of the game, but will probally have to rent it in the end, to see if i will like this game or not, i cannot simply go out and blindly spend 60 on a game that has not impressed me...
Just think it would be kooler if u actually see wot happens after, like the resi evil games at least they put some effort in the deaths 2 make u not want 2 die cuz it's so gruesome what happens to your character(resi evil 2/3).
i have seen whats happens in the older re games when you guys, and in 4 too, it makes no diff, to me what happens to the character when he/she died in a game i just try my hardest not to see that happen, but we all die sooner or later in a game...
what happens when Tyris dies? Does she get hacked to bits too or is it like one of those tacky game over screens where it just fades to black and big words say: GAME OVER.???
whats it matter if you get the game over screen anyways, and wats it matter IF the main character gets chopped up, you just reload the game and boom shes all good again
i dunno, it might be rated M, i cannot remember, as long as you have a parent with you qwhwn you get the game, i think you can get a M rated game from a gamestore, and sadly mosr store employees don't really enforce the ratings...
As far as hack'n slash games go, I love it! With the exception of a little tearing as you turn the camera sometimes it's a fun game. Remember, this is my opinion. I get tired of hearing how it's repetitive...uhhh...it's Golden Axe, the whole idea is to slash up monsters.
i love the beat em ups too, but 3-d beat em ups have always been a problem to pull off, i am unsure why but they never had the same feel as the 2-d ones...
Did you like Conan and Viking? Or do you feel the same about them as well? I also really enjoyed those games. The 3-d does not bother me at all. I loved the Arcade Golden Axe and Revenge of Death Adder, but after playing the New Golden axe and other two I just mentioned, I enjoy being able to move around more freely.

that'd be your opinion, there are some changes in this new game from the old one, that's going to happen when a game goes 3-d, remember this is not GA4, this is a separate storyline that tells only one characters story, i myself kinda wish they wouldn't' have focused so much on the beasts so much and make it more about the main character, but oh well, we can't always get what we want when games are updated

sega did not make this game, sega either hired an outside company, in this case secret level, or secret level approach sega about doing a new golden axe game, either way i do have to agree with you, i am not terribly impressed, but that is not segas fault it's secret levels...
sega is not reponsable, as far as i am concerened secret level responsable is for the content of this game, sega might take a beating from fans for lending the GA name to this game, but we'll see, we'll see...

Look ok, I actually liked the trailer but I have mixed feelings as I used to play the original game on a friend's Genesis and coop play was the thing that made the series unique.
The style is sort of a mix between the old "conan" fantasy style and some new one, I mean the woman is wearing like jeans or something looks retarded.
I want to check this game out but I dont have my hopes up, the other characters are apscent and so is the multiplayer :' (

I hate it when gamers bitch about games changing or becoming to hard like ninja gaiden if you hate games changing then go play your halo or W.O.W. games or get a life.
overall this game seems worth checking out minus some flaws in this video.

Just bought a 360 today with this game and fable 2 and damn I love it! There's so many hours of gameplay for this it's really surprising. So much fun with all the beasts. Absolutely love it. It's like a cross between soul reaver, prince of persia and something else....lol but tis very kool I recommend it 2 anyone who might be thinking of buying it.
The thing about this game is tht it gets quite difficult later on in the game, making it quite challenging.

You dont have to base your opinion around GAmeinformer, but some people who dont know what game to buy and which kind of games are good or not read gameinformer's magazines to get a taste of what they like or dislike. Considering now that all new games are like 60 dollars, you dont want to waste your money on a crappy game.

i have seen whats happens in the older re games when you guys, and in 4 too, it makes no diff, to me what happens to the character when he/she died in a game i just try my hardest not to see that happen, but we all die sooner or later in a game...

i dunno, it might be rated M, i cannot remember, as long as you have a parent with you qwhwn you get the game, i think you can get a M rated game from a gamestore, and sadly mosr store employees don't really enforce the ratings...

As far as hack'n slash games go, I love it! With the exception of a little tearing as you turn the camera sometimes it's a fun game. Remember, this is my opinion. I get tired of hearing how it's repetitive...uhhh...it's Golden Axe, the whole idea is to slash up monsters.

Did you like Conan and Viking? Or do you feel the same about them as well? I also really enjoyed those games. The 3-d does not bother me at all. I loved the Arcade Golden Axe and Revenge of Death Adder, but after playing the New Golden axe and other two I just mentioned, I enjoy being able to move around more freely.

The real golden axe must have the 3 characters. and not only one...the gameplay is very fast too...

the game features cameos by both axe battler and gilius thunderhead, this story focuses around tyris flare, and her alone, and serves as kind of a prequel, to tell how she got her fore based magic, simple as that...

that'd be your opinion, there are some changes in this new game from the old one, that's going to happen when a game goes 3-d, remember this is not GA4, this is a separate storyline that tells only one characters story, i myself kinda wish they wouldn't' have focused so much on the beasts so much and make it more about the main character, but oh well, we can't always get what we want when games are updated

Look ok, I actually liked the trailer but I have mixed feelings as I used to play the original game on a friend's Genesis and coop play was the thing that made the series unique.
The style is sort of a mix between the old "conan" fantasy style and some new one, I mean the woman is wearing like jeans or something looks retarded.
I want to check this game out but I dont have my hopes up, the other characters are apscent and so is the multiplayer :' (
