athere is a not suttle issue here with the men; they seem to disaprove ( ever so politely) of the women doing the " strong man's dance. I agree. this must be a Western influence. The strong man's dance is suppose to be a warrior dance in which the men show off their muscles ( probably to impress the ladies and intimidate the enemy. Your thoughts?

From what I see, whenever a lady comes out, a man will come out too. When a man comes into the middle of the circle, his girlfriend or wife comes out to dance too, or does anybody just go out to dance?

There is a point during the dance solo when others come to join the dancer - the échauffement, or doubling. There is usually an emcee who keeps things rolling, passing around a scarf to determine who solos next.
