Personally I don't blame Bettman for any of the crap that happened in Quebec, Winnipeg and Hartford. As much as it sucked beyond belief that these teams had to move, they did so for a Reason. It wasn't like Bettman intentionally sabotaged these teams, they just were no longer viable in such an inhospitable situation that these smaller market teams were in before the lockout. The southern experiment only somewhat failed, but it's time for the teams like Florida, ATL and PHO to head up north.
I am from Winnipeg and I would love to see a team come back here...but I'm also a huge fan of hockey and the NHL in general but it is depressing to see the NHL fall apart under Bettman(who I see running the league into another lockout in the next 4 years)
So aside from Winnipeg getting a team, I wanna see Quebec get a team back, saskatchewan, Halifax, or Hamilton could even do way better than the struggling franchises down south.
@brentos96 I hate having the teams down south also. I want Florida, Atlanta, and Phoenix to relocate. But i do understand what Bettman was trying to do. He was trying to make hockey more popular in US by putting teams in big US southern markets. Thing he didn't anticipate was that it wasn't going to make a difference. They just don't care about hockey.
@brentos96 Idk man Halifax is not really a city that can have professional league teams it's gonna be tough if the NHL to were to have a team for Halifax.
Why wouldn't you plant teams in places that are proven to be a hockey market? Instead you plant In places where hockey isn't popular and hope to MAYBE grow a fan base.
One of the few smart moves Bettman made was give Minnesota a team back. Because they are a proven hockey city/state and will sellout games regardless if it's a bad or good season.
"Winnipeg's not the place where you'll get 10,000 individual season ticket holders." Boy did we prove him wrong!

If Bettman is interested in NHL teams making money, then now is the time to take hockey out of the desert and put it back up north where it belongs.
