that's right, if you hold the left and right on the d-pad down at the same time you can do that. but you have to have a really worn out one... or you can surgically remove the fulcrum underneath the d-pad that is designed prevent the ability to send out multiple direction signals.

1) Face left.

2) Jump.

3) Push the joystick to the right. (The control pad on Nintendo DS)

How do you moonwalk? I'm guessing it's something like hold forward for a few frames, then press back for one frame so that mario moves forward but doesn't face that way. Just a guess, but I'm sure it's not just a modded SMB1.
