Def Leppard needs to do what Bon Jovi did. Release a box set of rarites, and demos. Have this song and other songs they may have recorded demos for but not included on an album. its interesting that you would mention that he sounds similar to bolan because ever since i first discovered t-rex through the rocket video way back when i was way younger he always looked "bolanish" to me. I think he looks bite like him in the face and they both had that kind of bushy curly hair style. he even moves like bolan when he plays his bass.
