Paul has said he frequently goes on the "Underground", but not usually with a camera crew ;-). He says he likes to just talk to people and listen to the buskers (musicians playing for donations).
oh c'mon people. I liked that song. Of course is not one of his best, but it's nice to hear it. It's a very 80's song. LOVE YOU PAUL, i don't know what i would do if i find you in the subway station. I think i would be hysterical. I would cry. And scream. And kiss him in the cheek (too!), and then faint...
Linda was one of the most luckiest women on this planet, to bad she had to die, Paul and Linda was one of the cutest couples ever, R.I.P. Linda McCartney
just putting it out there but you shouldn't call the lyrics lazy if you aren't sure what the song is about (i mean honestly i have no idea either...). i'm not saying they're ingenious but they aren't terrible either. i really don't want to start a fight im just sayin.
on a lighter note: I LOVE YOU PAULIE!!!! XD <3 <3 <3
I love Paul mega amounts, but even I have to admit his creativity was not at its best in the 80s. He's gorgeous eye candy in this vid though, the only reason I listened to the song!
Set in Oklahoma Territory outside the town of Claremore in 1906, it tells the story of cowboy Curly McLain and his romance with farm girl Laurey Williams.
The original Broadway production opened on March 31, 1943. It was a box-office smash and ran for an unprecedented 2,212 performances, later enjoying award-winning revivals, national tours, foreign productions and an Academy Award-winning 1955 film adaptation. It has long been a popular choice for school and community productions.
This video was put together spontaneously by Paul and one cameraman with a hand held video camcorder. Paul said he just started riding and when he felt comfortable or say people who wouldn't mind being filmed and made a video. Total cost- 200 pounds. I love it!
The thing i like about the video is that it all looks so spontaneous. Macca truly looked like he was having a good time making the video, and the people obviously enjoyed seeing him. Times as they are, i'm certain he would never do that today...pity.
Paul was asked in 1986 about the lyric Oklahoma was never like this and he said that it was another way of saying "it was never like this". The interview was by Rona Elliot I think her name was. I do like the song, though, as eighties as it is...
I think this is one of Paul's worst albums. I feel his need to use Hugh Padgham lowered his quality to that of other people. All the Beatles albums and solo have always been a bit non-dated and sound fresh no matter when you hear them. But when I hear this song I can't help but to think 80's. Whereas even an album like Band on the Run sounds like it was recorded 3-4 years ago.
imagine running into Paul on a busy subway.....I should be so lucky!!!......love his graying hair here........he looks yummy!!! thanks so much for posting this
Hey all, FWIW, I understand that Paul had all fifty US states in a hat, then picked one at random for the centerpiece line of the song "Press". Being born and raised in Oklahoma, I took particular glee at its inclusion during my high school years.
Further I understand the whole idea of the song is based on code he an Linda used to share about getting frisky. Or maybe getting high. Who knows?
@panhandleman2 i agree and even though i love the song Press, the lyrics are to me just thrown together with any real meaning behind the song,i always wondered what the hell "Oklahoma was never like this"was all about.
@TheBeatlesYears2 Story I heard was that Paul was thinking of the line in Wizard Of Oz "I have a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore". But "Kansas" didn't scan well in this song, so he picked another state.
@TheBeatlesYears2 I love his talent for melodies, but I think he cared less about lyrics with every record. (with the exception of Chaos and creation")
@panhandleman2 You think THIS has lazy lyrics? Have you heard his song "Feet in the Clouds"? There is a part where he sings "but I find it, very very very very very very hard"... talk about creativity.. but hey, it's a great song, by a great artist.
How... How was he not, like, ambushed. I would have had to been paid a lot of money not to go psycho on him and ask for an autograph and a hug and to bear his child... That or I would have gone into a blubbering mess. How could I not with that hunk of a man wriggling around on my train?
@DaveWollenberg Though hitting the Top 30 in both the U.S. (#21)[1] and the UK (#25), "Press" marked the beginning of a downturn of McCartney's fortunes on the singles charts, as it was the first time since Back to the Egg in 1979 that a lead single from a McCartney album failed to hit the Top 20. This may have been because "Press" did not fit neatly into album-oriented rock or adult-contemporary radio formats popular at the time.
I believe that is Paul's step-daughter, Heather, at 2:43 on the right. (linda's daughter from first marriage) I wonder what happened to her...I never hear anything about her. Anyone know?
@2079423644 Heather McCartney is a potter and designer,In 1999, Heather unveiled a line of houseware products in Atlanta, Georgia called the Heather McCartney Houseware Collection accompanied by Paul.

@2079423644 too bad its hard to find Heathr's stuff. its sure easy to find Stella fashion clothes and hear about Mary taking photos at Stella's shows, and James recently went on tour and played live for the 1st time last year after he'd been keeping a quiet private life as a waiter rather than relying on his dad (Paul)'s money. Yeah, its sad Linda is gone- she stuck with Paul for 30 years through some of the worst times in his lif and gave him wonderful kids
Yes - I almost bought a pair of sandals called the "Linda" from Stella's line, but at $400/pr. I changed my mind! What an interesting family all in all-can't believe James is a waiter! What! I would find it awkward for a McCartney to serve me, ut then, they were reared to be "normal" kids-a true gift from their parents. I must confess, in earlier days I didn't care for Linda...not sure why...guess she was in the way of my getting to Paul! Poor thing, she was a good person.
Definitely so! I almost bought her sandals...had them on the website ready to buy but finally decided they were just too much $. Not sure why Stella's line is so high end - her parents weren't into expensive labels, I don't think. At least she is anti-fur, I'm all for that.
Ive got all of pauls solo albums and this album is the only one i honestly never even listened to it, but i discovered this one and i really like it ...im going to listen to the entire album when i have chance :)
I would love to meet Paul.. I saw this guy 2 times and have been listening since I was 5 years old.. I will be 38 next year and would love to see and maybe meet him.. He is sweet and very funny.....

lazy lyrics on this one...
"very very very much" "Really"
--you're in trouble when you get four adverbs in the first couple lines
"Oklahoma was never like this" ???
-- that just sounds like a line that he used to use to fill in space till he found something better.
