@JBBlitz A major difference between Paul and Obama is clearly a lack of corporate sponsorship for Paul. The unreserved commitment of volunteers (like me) underpinning Ron Paul's campaign seems to be a result, not of the man, but of his message. It attracts to him so much support that other politicians are jealous. Candidates like Obama, and Mitt Romney must always keep their hands out hoping for that cooperate money to help them along. No Messiah's here, just a message of freedom and liberty.

@MsOMyGosh Ron Paul believes that education is a family responsibility. The one who knows the child the best is the parent. What benefit have the American people gained as a result of sending our tax dollars off to Washington, D.C., to be fought over by the statisticians, lobbyists, and special interests, before being given back the money in the form of grants (which come with mandates)? It's an inefficient system. He wants to abolish the Federal Dept. of Education and restore local control.

That was back when the tea party was a philosophical movement based on ideas of what the role of governments should be. The tea party is struggling not to be co-opted and utilized for more of the left-vs-right purely-political bickering that has distracted/divided Americans while the big-bankers run off with the treasure. We need a revolution of ideas.

@MsOMyGosh Not exactly. During the campaign his supporters threw a nation-wide tea party for Ron Paul. I was at the Santa Monica tea party featured @ 0:20 in this video. An truly historic event. The tea party you are referring too came along later, after Obama was elected. Some in the tea party support Ron Paul, but it's not HIS organization or anything. Ron Paul founded the Campaign for Liberty.

In 2009 their was many protests nationwide against big government interventions, but many of these people would not agree with Ron Paul on several issues, most notably that we do not need perpetual war to achieve strong national security. Many rank and file GOP voters believe in a strong foreign presence of the U.S. military in many locations around the world.

@MsOMyGosh Ron Paul believes that bureaucrats in Washington D.C. absolutely ruin the education process, evidenced by decades of declining academic performance of students in the U.S. The U.S. Constitution does not allow the federal government to dictate much to the 50 states. As with most all programs except for military, Ron Paul believes it is far better to leave education to the states, counties, and municipalities. And the parents and teachers. This is why he wants to end the Dept. of Ed.

Prior to 1913, the people had direct veto power to the spending policies of the Federal Government. Because if the government wanted to borrow money, it had to go to the people for it. There was no central bank.

It had to sell bonds.That gave direct veto power to the people on economic policy and by extension ALL policies. That's how come government managed to stay small. Because it didn't have an unlimited credit line to go on a shopping spree. For 97 years. And make you pay for it.
