Guitars are mixed waaaaaay too loud, so its just a wall of distortion. Second off, this doesnt sound very original like every other Samael album sounds. The feeling I got from this album was they wanted to get something out of their systems, went a more "old school" route but it still had that "new school" black metal sound to it. Im having a tough time really getting into this album, basically because of its lack of originality.

The version they had posted in myspace as Above had a much more underground feel to it and also allowed the great guitar riff come to the front, but still it's a killer!

I dunno where people get that this is a "return" for Samael. They have never used doublebass like that or played at those speeds. Their trademark was slow, plodding, even beats. The lyrics are also a continuation of the ideas on reign of light, solar soul, etc. from what I've seen. So how exactly is this a "return to roots"?

If anyone ever gets a chance to see them in concert, I highly recommend it. I saw them on tour with Dimmu Borgir when "Eternal" came out. fuckin' awsome! Best Metal show I've ever been to! .....besides moonspell.
