Hyenas are very misjudged. I keep singing this same tune because having a huge love for them, it boils me to see people calling them "scum" "rodents" "pests. Sure it's their right of opinion. But it's mainly down to ignorance, they have harsh opinions on hyenas because they don't get them and they're too proud to admit otherwise.
@ParalyzerEx nahh hyenas r not that dirty or scums theres 2 reasons people dont like um cuz there not the prettiest animals out there.... not sayin there ugly and that there not very intellegent. so when they go kill they never go for the neck to finish the prey, they eat them alive while there still struggling. now idk many creatures that do that but thats a dirty habit
@razatiger22 Whether a hyena is attractive or not is a matter of opinion, but its intelligence is not: it does better than chimps on certain tasks. Check Wikipedia.
As for their eating their prey alive, they aren't equipped to deliver a single killing bite. Strange but true, the teeth for crushing bone are the unimpressive, almost flat ones along the sides of their mouths. Dirty? Maybe. But the hyena is so disease-resistant and eats all the animal, it is antiseptic for the ecosystem. Very clean!
