@voodoovibes007 you have it backwards; His 4yo son fell out of a window and died, this song is about him seeing his son again when he looks into his father's eyes
@SydsPop Clapton did not have a relationship with his father...he was a Canadian Airforceman... the rest read the books or look online this is about his song along with three other songs 2 from the unpluged dvd (even though the other two were payed on it) and two from pilgrim AND August was dedicated to him for its the month he was born (Connor)
Thanks for posting this. "My Father's Eyes" is the most poetic of Clapton's work. His own father, who Clapton never met--the son he lost so tragically, and the heavenly Father, who will bring the three of them together someday. Wow--true poetry.
You guys should listen to the acoustic version during the Unplugged concert. I feel like that version is also very good and softer for a little more emotional "punch" in it. sorry about the bad word choice. lol
slowhand rules....

Well, you obviously don't know what this Song is about.
Well I tell you shortly.
He never met his father. He tried to search for him but his search was without success.
But when he looked into his son's eyes he felt like looking into his fathe's eyes.
So he finally met his father.
He thanks his dead son for this.
Because his search for his father has come to an end through him.

this may be in bad taste but if he were your father you would have already fallen out of a window.

It's in very bad taste, especially singe Connor was in his mother's "care" when that happened.

@N1095A This song is not really about his son its about Clapton's own father who died before Eric ever met him. Tears in Heaven is about his son.
